  2. Lets be honest - they would have easily won the league this season if it wasn't for their injuries.

  3. Spanish Islands are pretty cheap in the winter months - quite possibly a saving on holding it in rip off Britain.....

  4. Indeed, the other option is effectively rider control but nobody bar the bottom 2 clubs possibly would ever vote for that. When the likes of Birmingham do finally pack it and the top clubs have nobody to race but themselves they can't say they weren't warned

  5. The ideas are there, but infighting, self interest and inertia stops them being implemented.

  6. Lost Stadiums: West Ham Speedway, nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 2024 ‪@motorfilmawards‬ tells the story of one of the best-kept secrets in London; the East End used to be home to a huge 120,000-capacity stadium, first built for greyhound racing, and subsequently dedicated to the motorcycle sport of Speedway. Demolished in 1972, the housing estate in Custom House that replaced it has streets named after some of the legends that rode there for the West Ham Hammers - internationally famous speedway team and 1965 British League Champions. This new documentary film - Lost Stadiums: West Ham Speedway - relies on the oral history from community members, historians and former riders to tell the story of this forgotten treasure, half a century since it closed its doors for the last time. The movie also includes a look at the history of ‪@yourroyaldocks‬ in Newham and the East End’s former community life and social history. The film was part of a heritage project supported by ‪@TheNationalLotteryHeritageFund‬

  7. Sounds very Cornish. Arrrgh me hearties, there be a good tale or two to be told of smuggling and other deeds that must be kept secret until the time old Bomber's palm be crossed with enough silver, arrrgh.

  8. Agreed. Solid but probably found wanting in those crucial heats 13 & 15

  10. Two from King, Rew and Ellis doesn't really matter imo. As long as Ipswich pounced on Brum's issues to snap up Tom Brennan then only injuries can stop Ipswich from a clean sweep of silverware next season. Wouldn't even need to know other teams 1-7 as Ipswich's side would be stronger than this years side that was dominating the league.

  15. Many riders don't peak until 30+ these days. Cook added a whole point to his PL average in 2024 ... and a whole point to his CL average in 2024 .. and in Poland averaged more than Lindgren, Doyle, Lidsey, Michelsen and Woffinden (and was a mere 0.01 below Jack Holder) => plenty of scope for further improvement in his British scoring.

  16. Think the trouble is the weakening of the Leagues mediocre riders are finishing with higher averages ,then they keep wanting to lower points limit.Standard of League diminishing rapidly now .Admissiom prices are going up though. There is only one outcome.

  17. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Ermolenko thats for the uneducated.. leagues top scorer multiple years as well as world titles , overseas titles , team titles.. the list is endless, Also at a time there was some very good riders Im not a Sam fan from a punditry or team manager perspective but you cant fault his excellent record as a rider

  19. As of yesterday I noticed lots of posts have disappeared, I was active in one about 2 or valve engines on speedway general discussions and it has gone, other posts have gone too ?

  20. Don’t think it matters a great deal and there’s been nothing between them this season. Ellis 19 meetings GSA 5.90 King 17 meetings GSA 6.15 When you factor in that King rode the last third of the season struggling with his broken hand which saw him reject guest bookings and saw his average drop, but still finished with a slightly higher season average, is keeping Ellis over King wise? Appreciate some feel it just needs a parting of the ways, but one has to go to make room for Brennan and I don’t think it makes a huge difference scoring wise. Both would provide very similar scoring over the season for me. I think both have scope to improve their current averages, King’s with the caveat though of sorting his problematic hand injury.

  21. Quite the opposite. Had been using new kit in UK most of the year, and couldn't get a satisfactory set-up. Went back to last year's kit towards the end of the season and immediately started going better.

  33. Not so sure. We were definitely the best team this year and comfortably so, but Ouch makes a valid point. We can’t ride the NSS for toffee so it would have been a close run thing I think. If we want to win it next year, we simply have to find more answers there.

  34. It's still a good side but doesn't offer any real excitement like the teams belle vue, Ipswich etc put together

  35. You never know, Stewart might go against his usual thought process when building a 1-7 (UK based riders) I think I've got 5 right as I don't see Masters leaving, Stewart will certainly want him back considering Sam is his rider of the season, I don't think anyone would opt to sign for Birmingham over a club that's financially stable as it's a case of playing with fire to a point where Birmingham could run out of money at any stage during the season. No.6 should be Sedgmen or Kerr though, I keep throwing Kerr into the mix because he's clearly a rider that Stewart likes considering he's signed Lewis for Berwick and Leicester over the last 2 seasons whilst putting faith in Lewis to guest for the Lions this year in the crunch play-off meetings.

  37. Will be no surprise if Lions 2025 feature two current GP riders at 1 & 5 and all riders being based in the UK.

  38. Lidsey was hot property during the Polish covid season, he seems in freefall since. And Cook finished with a higher Aces in 24. Cook looks on the way up, as evidenced by his startling form in Poland this season.

  40. With respect thats not the finest idea. Its been tried before when the pool of emerging riders was of a far higher standard than now. A coupe of teams will snap up the cream and the others will be left with NDL 2nd strings (t best) then following year once some of those have upped averages it will get even worse.

  46. Take this for what it is I.e. simple gossip, but it would appear that the move to track both Thompson twins has broken down as a result of the miscalculation of averages and the Tigers are having to revisit their plans.

  47. Not quite. Some riders can/will be signed in any eventuality of rules and points limit. Nobody though, will be signing the majority of their riders until the rules and points limit has been confirmed at the AGM. as I’ve said before, some things have been loosely agreed prior to the AGM in the past, only for them to change at the AGM itself. I still to this day, don’t understand why they leave the AGM so late. It should be done as soon as the last competitive fixture has been ridden IMO and I haven’t heard one decent argument why that isn’t the case.

  48. Sadly the crowds we got at Wembley in the 60’s and 70’s are no longer there. As someone who attended every Wembley WF 1965-1981 I find it very sad. I am not a fan of GP’s, particularly with the current scoring system. Give me a one-off WF every time.
