Some Berwick fans astound me, the guy gave us nothing but loyal service and yes he may have had a disappointing year by his standards last year but can you not just wish him well for the future. Berwicks loss is most certainly Workingtons gain.3 points
-
Agreed. The irony is he made mention of this mistake in the BSN interview before the superheat, but then compounded it by putting Masters off 1 in that race, when finishing second and third was more important than the heat win! Surely give Heeps the best chance to get a decent start, then have your fastest rider (Masters) coming through to join him?3 points

You could tell Jack Thomas was done from his interview from his hospital bed shortly after the crash. Pretty much admitted the crash had affected him more than just the injuries and there’s no shame in that whatsoever.2 points

As with any sport, especially this one, you'll see a big drop off in supporting numbers through continuous bad performances. It's in Andrews best interests to get a solid, winning team. For me, I'm not bothered. I enjoy speedway no matter if we win or lose. Obviously I'd prefer to win but it's nice to just relax and enjoy a nice speedway meeting. Can't wait for this season. I went Redcar on three occasions, berwick, Glasgow and Edinburgh last season. This season I want to go to the same but make the trip further south as well. UTC!2 points

Not getting involved in how good or bad the comets team is, I've been following the comets since 1970, through good 2018 and very bad 1980 +81 , I'm just going to enjoy the speedway home and away to support the team, and hope the fans turn up to support Andrew Bain and the rest of the backroom team. Hope all have a successful season UTC 😉2 points

Its only natural for fans to want changes early doors if results are off. It must be a huge worry for Worky with Tate Z being so off it. That crash last season has hit him for six by the looks of it. He was superb last season before it, had the style and speed but it just proves that one big knock can reck your confidence. Hopefully after a few meetings he gets his confidence back as Worky need him hitting potential to be challenging.2 points

I’m sure over the course of the season the fact it rains every other day in Manchester will ensure belle vue reach the cut off around a similar time 🤣2 points

Correct. Doyle WAS out as we all know, and Nicholls was the regular guest. Every eligible rider was asked to guest but none of them fancied it. Bewley took one booking, but apparently needed some persuading. You’ll find the middle order riders much more willing to earn a little extra cash.2 points

Agree with this score if Witches number 5 isn't watching his average again like at Birmingham.... In my opinion!2 points

Oxford are going to struggle in heat 13 and 15 against the better teams with no Scott Nicholls. I wouldn't class Heeps or Jenkins as heat leaders2 points

Guest replacement's are another issue in signing a "strength in depth" team... By signing the No1 rider in the league you have the whole league as possible replacements... Signing riders much further down the averages reduces the quality of any possible replacements... Cook was at No4 last year for the Aces... A massive jump to No1 considering only his position in the team has changed, not his average...2 points

Aries makes a fair point here. There seems to be stick heading Ipswich’ way from all angles including posters making up complete lies about Ipswich fans claiming the title is already won which just didn’t happen. It’s all a bit weird to be honest.2 points

Could be an Easter spectacular weekend against the Bandits with part one tomorrow night at Ashfield . This is the strongest looking Berwick side for many seasons with two ex GP riders spearheading them , assuming Kildemand is fit of course . They are backed up by a strong middle order and a promising reserve in Sam Hagon . We will have to improve a lot from last Friday to get the better of Berwick tomorrow night , should be a cracker of a meeting though1 point

£25 for 30 heats, I don’t think that’s outrageous and it’s not ‘juniors’ it’s NDL some of which have been riding for several years and a few are even championship riders !1 point

I was thinking during the meeting about the only positive for Hagon is that he does tend to complete 4 laps so can pick up any scraps that are on offer. Other than that if he does make any kind of half decent start he's soon passed. "Rising Star" was just about okay immediately post Covid but the league is a lot stronger than that these days and even if these kids are sat next to their heroes in the pits barely scoring any points every match can't be good for their confidence or bank balance.1 point

I think so, haven’t heard his name mentioned anywhere for a couple of years1 point

Personally I'd have kept the 3-2-1-0-1-2-3-4 scoring system which awarded the away team two points for a draw anyway. One of the best ideas British Speedway has come up with in recent years and they scrapped it!1 point

The purpose of it is to bring a victory for one team. Normally the home side so the fans can go home happy.1 point

I know Oxford's team manager gets a lot of stick but surely he talks to his riders about gate positions in heat 15 and a Super Heat if there is one!1 point

As far as I'm aware it's An extra a £5 for a double header so £25 for an adult rather then £20 for a stand alone Championship Fixture1 point

Yeah, teams have either built with strong heat leaders/ weaker reserves or gone for more strength in depth. Winning all your home fixtures is vital and if you can pick up the odd away win with aggregate bonus points here and there it should be enough to make the playoffs ?. I agree about a fascinating season. I really don't know how Worky will perform until we get out on track as a 7, we have potential but there are unknowns and our sub par performance in the Pairs didn't help answer any of these . We will need to be strong at home because our track holds no real advantage.1 point
-
Either get rid of it for single meetings and have it for aggregate points or give the winning team 3 points. There should be the same amount of points available in every match. The extra point could determine who qualifies for the semi finals.1 point

Perhaps Birmingham fans will confirm but I believe this is the last season the club can run at the stadium anyway?1 point

Yeah, why did he not slow the race down. Not that I'm complaining! Richard and Zach much better at team riding.1 point

This team isn't far off what we were running end of last season. Would have hoped we'd have got a bit more momentum now. BV and Sheffield away were always going to be difficult away but didn't expect us to be that poor. We absolutely have to beat Leicester on Monday to turn this around. If we can get a bit of confidence this team can get to the play offs. It's all very well talking about changes but who can you realistically bring in that's better than what we have....?1 point

I don’t understand what they’d be hoping to achieve by this though? If they would have just said every team needs a rising star and compiled a list for them all to choose from, nobody would have batted an eyelid. Doesn’t make any sense.1 point
