  1. Riders dictate the sport in GB.We let it happen, so we just have to sit and bare it.

  2. I thought the track held up well. I can't remember the last time I saw a meeting and the track maintenance didn't happen until after heat 7. The speed the meeting played out at was the best I've been to in a long time. Racing was good and if it's all better than that in the evening then I'll come all season. I was going to be a regular at Lynn as I'm about an hour from each of you. Great value for money with a basic race card. You have a new fan.

  4. Just don’t get how people think? Lewi’s first meeting got to the pairs final and unlucky to not win it, bad luck with an EF at Oxford so should have been 8 points and it’s not a great start to his pirates career and a worrying signing. At least let them all get some meetings under there belt first. He deserves an injury free season and he will be scoring some big points.

  5. Well in the two cup matches against Birmingham he scored 1+1 in each match, beating his fellow co worker at Hagon Shocks! Jason Edwards. In his three league matches. Against Belle Vue He scored 4, but after a third in heat two. His other two races there were only three finishers. Against Kings Lynn he had four rides scoring 3+3, but he was gifted every point he scored. Boughen pulled up in heat 2, he retired in heat 4, he fell in heat 8. As we know he failed to score tonight. It's been a tough start to the season for Sam. Not being nasty, but I think he is out of his depth in this league. He's not the only one. Hume, Killeen, Mulford. Possible Boughen. They have all struggled to score points. I did suggest Gilkes, but he didn't exactly set the world on fire yesterday at Oxford. In all reality the top league should not be having rising stars. Thompson, Brennan are the two successes. To a lesser extent Flint, but how long have him and Jenkins been rising stars? If your good enough that should be the only criteria needed.

  6. Very enjoyable first trip Scunthorpe. Great racing, 100x better than what I've been watching at Leicester and the meeting was run superbly well. I will be back. 👍

  10. £25 for 30 heats, I don’t think that’s outrageous and it’s not ‘juniors’ it’s NDL some of which have been riding for several years and a few are even championship riders !

  11. I did go in the end as the BSN meeting was called off and I'm pretty glad I did tbh. Like @Mr Bee said the meeting was run at decent pace, which was refreshing. Can't help but think that Redcar threw this away with all their mechanical shenanigans. What on earth Mulford was doing changing his bike for a 2nd time with the clock at about 10 seconds was a bit of a head scratcher. The junior match was pretty decent too, certainly better than some of the crap I've seen at Leicester! Although there was quite a disparity in the quality of riders. Correct me if I'm wrong but are Ablitt and McGurk not riding CL at the moment? Ideal candidates for a CL rising star berth... if it existed. Cooper Rushen was impressive, especially considering it was his 2nd meeting of the day... he certainly has the name to be a top star in Speedway!

  12. In most sports you have to be good enough, irrespective of age... except in British Speedway where it doesn't matter how good you are as long as you meet the Rising Star age criteria. These "protected" age/performance related team spots should be in the CL and not the PL imo. The whole progression system in British Speedway needs a re-write. There are a lot of decent kids out there but they just seem to get put through the meat grinder.

  16. Of course it’s a challenge and can go either way but there is hope. Rugby BC are backing the return of motorsports. There is a consortium with the relevant funds and expertise to manage the project And we have Cecil up the bees

  17. If you are going to have a deciding heat to determine a win, then one nominated rider from each side, one wins, one loses would suffice, the stupid 4-3-2-1 points fiasco where one side can win the meeting by finishing 2nd/3rd is a daft idea, even if you put 4 riders out on track, then the winning side should be the side whose rider wins the decider .

  18. Don’t forget Anders Rowe was a RS. Struggled for a long time then came to Lynn got his mojo back, and now looks very comfortable at no.2 for Sheffield

  21. What a fantastic ride from Dan Thompson in heat 12. Passed by Douglas and lost ground but then battled back superbly to re-pass for a 5-1 that killed the meeting off. Superb.

  22. Not getting involved in how good or bad the comets team is, I've been following the comets since 1970, through good 2018 and very bad 1980 +81 , I'm just going to enjoy the speedway home and away to support the team, and hope the fans turn up to support Andrew Bain and the rest of the backroom team. Hope all have a successful season UTC 😉

  23. Personally I'd have kept the 3-2-1-0-1-2-3-4 scoring system which awarded the away team two points for a draw anyway. One of the best ideas British Speedway has come up with in recent years and they scrapped it!

  24. Blödorn had the wild card at Landshut last year. Riss, Wölbert and Grobauer all ride for the Landshut Devils. By the way, Grobauer only had bad luck in last year's German Final, otherwise he would never have finished below Celina in the results. Grobauer had to retire from the meeting after his fourth outing, having blown an engine in his second ride (when he was leading Riss for nearly three laps) and shedding a chain in his fourth ride. Grobauer scored five points from only two completed rides, and was in the class of Riss and Wolbert, while Celina scored seven points from five rides and was never in the hunt for a top position.

  27. Decent meeting and some good racing. From a Bears point of view they threw it away, couple of engine issues and points dropped from scoring positions. 12 heat winners and still losing is quite something. Mulford and Edwards have to contribute more if the Bears want to do anything away from home. Scorpions were pretty solid and Declan Kennedy looked good.

  28. Hume is not a Rising Star, although at 28 (29 in July) he would fit the Rising Journeyman category that has been suggested.

  29. And, as we know. Since I can remember, although every team starts "roughly equal", at least one, and usually more, end up, very early in the season, miles adrift of the team at the top... The make up of the teams impacts a result more than averages... Teams with "big hitters" in HT 13 and 15 are the ones who will always have an advantage v those with six or seven point riders up against them..

  39. In a sport that is seriously short on riders they should be running a "Rising Journeyman" scheme not a Rising Star scheme... cream will always rise to the top.

  41. When it's the reduced average rule can't use r/r only a guest. While it was a terrible injury Woffinden suffered & we all wish him the best, I'm not sure why Sheffield should get the facility extended. Rules are there for a reason & getting a longer facility won't help Tai heal any quicker. Ben Basso & Lewis Kerr would fit. Sheffield already have a strong top 3 without Woffy, certainly at home. Could allow them a stronger reserve pairing. Hopefully Tai will then be fit enough to return in 2026.

  47. In a non televised meeting the ref obviously only gets one look at it. Not an easy job, and it can look different from different angles. I was an incident recorder for a while and I'd say refs get most right

  48. I hope that supporters wanting to use public transport to get to Perry Barr Stadium, will find this information useful: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- All buses to the stadium from Birmingham City Centre start in ALBERT STREET which is a short walk from MOOR STREET rail station. From the station, cross the road and turn right. Albert Street is the third street down on the left, recognisable by the large carpark on the corner. Bus Number 33 (B'ham to Pheasey) stops outside the stadium entrance. and Bus number 51 (Not 51X) stops at the One Stop Shopping Precinct opposite the stadium. Both have a journey time of approximately 20 minutes. (bus number 51X passes the stadium but doesn't stop there!) Bus numbers 907 B'ham to Sutton-Coldfield), 934 (B'ham to Walsall via Pheasey) 935 B'ham to Walsall via Streetly), 936 (B'ham to Brownhills via Walsall Wood), 937 (B'ham to Brownhills via Boney Hay) and 997 (B'ham to Rushall via Aldridge) are all express services which each have only four stopping places before reaching the stadium, and all stop in Aldridge Road right outside the stadium. All of these routes run at ten minutes intervals and all have a journey time of approximately 8 minutes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Trains leave Birmingham New Street on the hour and on the half hour and have a journey time of 12 minutes. Perry Barr Station is a 5 minute walk from the stadium. Return trains (after speedway meetings) leave Perry Barr Station at 21 and 33 minutes past the hour. The last train from Perry Barr to New Street leaves at 22.21. Trains from Walsall also call at Perry Barr at 12 and 42 minutes past the hour with a journey time of 15 minutes. The last Perry Barr to Walsall train is at 23.12. I hope that
