It's a pity the numbers game didn't allow Monarchs to replace Max James with Jack Smith. Would've been really cool having Jack and Victor at reserve.8 points

I know exactly where you're coming from😉Since Jason Lyons retired(his words to me were "it's time to get out of British Speedway"),Tony Mole retired and sold to the next owner who didn't have the funds to take it forward and so on and so on and folk have just kind of given up🙄There are people I used to go all over the UK with watching the Brummies have just drifted away and just are sitting at home saying WTF(I am for sure). There has been a total lack of ambition by certain folk(apparently the Brummies would be completely knackered without him)who just want to be part of the speedway set up in the UK and have no aspirations in acheiving any kind of success going forward and are just happy with an existence/complete failure(surely try to attract lapsed speedway followers from the Midlands who have no team to follow anymore through no fault of their own). There are quite a few hardcore followers(as you well know)who'll put up with any crap so long as the team exist🙄I'd like to know the answers as I,along with many other folk(famous speedway teams in the Midlands who no longer exist)wonder where this is going to end up?Are there any administrators/involvement from the Brum set up trying to attract new followers, sponsors, businesses to come along and have a look at what goes on every couple of weeks at Perry Barr,or have they just given up too and accepted all is over at the end of this season? My apologies for being the Grim Reaper but it's no fun anymore being a speedway follower/lapsed at Brum when you know that nothing anytime soon is going to change.🙄5 points

Very true, but there are certain fundamental reasons for the continued success... The Poles ensure each rider, (whether good, bad or indifferent), belongs to one team only in each league, and doesnt get shared around on an adhoc basis and whim... Meaning each rider rides for "your team" which can then generate that ultra important sporting tribal following... When you attend a Polish meeting you are attending a proper, bona fide sporting contest, with consequence resulting from the outcome... The Poles will have seen what the UK did from the early 80's, when they ruled the roost, and won't make the same mistakes the promoters have done over here since... When you are sat in a 20,000 crowd in Poland a very high percentage of fans are under 40, never mind 60, with many "kids" in attendance... Keeping that atmosphere that gets created by a large crowd, is key to the continued growth of any sport... Hence the UK's downwords spiral in the last few decades, as many promoters allowed their crowds to drop by their actions....3 points

Seems like it only affects Steve! If anyone wants to watch both just go to speedway and watch the football on the phone in between the heats sorted! Definitely not worth moving a meeting for imo.3 points

4 riders in the British Final and 4 riders in the U21 Final, pretty good going for our riders2 points

I think you are underestimating the Bandits slightly, Kemp Is flying and is a top 15 guy in the league now imo Wood will pinch points off more than Marson if we aren’t gating sharp against him and Hume knows his way round Armadale. So if Kildemand gets to grip early and Hagon/Smith chip in with a few it won’t take much for Berwick to be right in it2 points

You've got to admit steve done a great job in getting forum members to post about some soccer competition in a far off land on the poole thread2 points

Kind of missing the point though. Apart from Ipswich, Sheffield & Belle Vue (all have 2 very good heatleaders) most other clubs can't afford these "Star" riders in the first place. These riders just walk away if clubs can't manage their pay grade, then all we'll be doing again is diluting the product. British Speedway needs to stop pandering to the weak, allow team to sign who they want.2 points

The idea is one of them joins another club. Won't be the first time a top rider has had to change teams due to the points limit, Rickardsson left Ipswich after the 98 treble, Hancock & Hamill split up after racing together at Cradley & Coventry, Poole chose Pedersen over Crump (can't remember if that was due to points limit or GP rider limit). I'm not saying it's ideal, but if the alternative is clubs closing down due to losing money let alone the clubs that may lose their stadium, won't do much good having a superstar team with only 2 or 3 teams to race against.2 points

If you want to some fantastic and crazy action watch the Red Bull Rookie cup series, these kids are crazier than the Moto3 riders2 points

Lewi Kerr finishes 5th in the semi final and qualifies for the British Final, which I believe Richard Lawson has pulled out of1 point

If they really want to develop the female side of the sport, they should provide a spot in each NDL team for a female rider... The top league gets hardly any coverage so whoever wins the NDL will get pretty much zero coverage... Might get some publicity week to week though...1 point

I think it’s time we stop trying to scrape together a few teams for a poor premier league and push to start a European speedway super league, could Lublin do it on a cold Monday night at Foxhall?1 point

Harrison is travelling to Slovakia to ride in the European U19s Championship qualifier1 point

Draw: 1 Drew Kemp, 2 Alfie Bowtell, 3 Craig Cook, 4 Lewis Kerr, 5 Vinnie Foord, 6 Dan Gilkes, 7 Jason Edwards, 8 Ashton Boughen, 9 Connor Mountain, 10 Leon Flint, 11 Simon Lambert, 12 Danyon Hume, 13 Nathan Ablitt, 14 Dan Thompson, 15 Joe Thompson, 16 Sam Hagon. Reserves: Freddy Hodder, Matt Marson. Hagon and Foord replace Barker and Jenkins from the last update. Foord seems to have jumped ahead of Harrison and Mulford from the standby list unless they're both unavailable.1 point

Yep in which case it’s qualifier 3 that has only 3 going forward to challenge final.Debrecen round is qualifier 31 point

I agree there are many that see both, I sat next to a Kings Lynn fan at a football match in London last week but it isnt Bournemouth playing next Wednesday and I wouldn't think too many Poole fans support Arsenal. It should be a good game to watch though, PSG play some amazing football and I fully expect them to win. I understand you think some may want to stay home and watch it on tv rather than see the Pirates live.1 point
-
Right, we get that. But you are expecting a fixture change because you want to watch football of a team you don't support 90% of the time. You will just have to choose which you would rather watch! It is May 1st and not April 1st right?? 🤷♀️👀1 point

Steve seems the only person who is bothered. Most speedway fans aren't bothered by football1 point

Where was the information posted about Charles being fit? Not everyone has the time and access to see that !!1 point

Certainly is down when Poole clash with Bournemouth. There are many fans that go to both. Champions league next Wednesday. A shame there’s a clash which could have been avoided.1 point

What is would say Lewy is,unless you are privy to any private conversations between myself and the Plymouth promotion, then you don't really know what you're talking about !!1 point

So Doyle rides for Ippo and Emil says goodbye to British Speedway That worked out well for the sport.....1 point

Let’s see, should be a good meeting either way, with a bumper crowd!1 point

Bang on. Stevebrum being a bit misleading with the 'facts' there (shock). MJJ is a transformed rider, even since last year, and I'm sure - if committed - he can be one of the Premiership's top riders.1 point

Looking forward to this and Redcar on Friday, as I've got withdrawal symptoms of having no live speedway to watch 😄1 point

Wait until it is gone - and then you'll reconsider that statement I'm sure. I watched Wimbledon from 1969 onwards, and very rarely did they have a chance of winning anything - but I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.1 point

That's total rubbish. Very few of my just over 5,000 posts have been "moaning" about Berwick or "Mr. Barrie". My "observations" are not all negative about Berwick. Re-read my previous post where I praise previous and the current promotions. The only thing you are correct about is I go to Redcar by choice. That's my personal choice. And when I get the chance, I will head across to the West Coast to go to a Workington meeting.1 point

IF I had the money I would try to revive the Diamonds. But it ain't that easy, even if I did have the cash to do so. Finding somewhere to race seems to be a no go anyway, so it probably won't happen. My opinion on the Berwick track is just that, an opinion. This is an open forum for discussion. As I've said in an earlier post, good on all the previous promotions and the current one for keeping it going. And, just to clarify, it was an observation, not a "moan" and was directed at the track, not Berwick as a whole.1 point

It’s always been the case. Never been a fan of bowing to the lowest common denominator and dumbing down the product just so there won’t be strugglers at the bottom. Poole always dominated in the top league and always had the best riders for years. We had the Kings Lynn fan the other day saying they battered everyone in the second tier every single week so it happens in a lower quality league as well. Some would rather drive out the likes of Sayfutdinov and Kurtz so the teams are more equal but that is bonkers. Imagine Poland saying the top boys aren’t riding there anymore because there’s a few struggling teams at the bottom. No he isn’t completely right. The teams at the top will still hammer those near the bottom because if it’s six man teams, they’ll still have the best six riders! If it’s 5 man teams, they’ll have the best 5 riders. It won’t make a jot of difference. You’re always going to have successful teams, and non successful teams. Unlike other sports we do have a points limit in place to try and keep things as even as possible, is there anything remotely similar in other sports that want to be taken seriously? We do have an issue with the top league at present and there seem to be reasons for that. Birmingham weren’t even sure to be running this year because of financial issues, so they’re obviously not at all equipped to be in the top tier. The race night issue was clearly a problem for them as well so that was a factor. Oxford might be struggling because they’ve spread themselves a bit thin running in three leagues. That’s their prerogative of course and they chose to do that. The other 5 teams are all competitive.1 point

Hawks 1975, thanks for the info. Really pleased and grateful to all those who have volunteered and hopefully it will be a success. I am just really disappointed that I will miss the first match, particularly with Will Cairns in attendance (interesting to see how he goes against Ablitt, Foord et al). Looking forward to attending as many of the other matches as I can as well as hopefully the youth championship.1 point

I used to think that way....but after 4/5 seasons of 'cr#p', personally, I wouldn't miss not having speedway at PB anymore!0 points

But Zagar rode in official competitions... KO Cup and the Premiership.... If not eligible then his points should be removed.. (Not that it would make much difference) 😁0 points
