Enjoyable competetive meeting tonight with some top racing. Heats 7 and 14 very influential for the Comets. The Tigers turned what looked like a 3-3 into a 5-1 in heat 7 and what looked like a certain 1-5 in heat 14 into a 2-4 with a great last turn from Leon Flint although we thought Jye still pipped him but the transponder didn't agree. Well done both teams for some excellent entertainment.6 points

Just got back home after a fantastic meeting at Glasgow the comets made the tiggers ride hard for the win š some brilliant racing by both sides, not many teams will take Glasgow to a last heat decider at ashfield. The bonus point is on a knife edge UTC4 points

As long as they aren't showing them how to prepare a speedway track! š3 points

Good result for Speedway fans, 2 Current GP Riders, 1 Former GP Rider who should've been in this year anyway plus Kacper Woryna. Now it's down to the organisers to bring back Emil and Artem. No more Huckenbeck and Kvech as they're nowhere near GP level riders.3 points

In your opinion, which will probably be shared by others, but the technology dragging the sport kicking and screaming into the 21st century says otherwise.3 points

Was great to see Tom Spencer escape injury after some nasty crashes. When he flew over the fence somehow he miraculously got up and ran back to the pits to come out for the rerun. He's got sum b*lls!2 points

Not so sure it'll be a walk as Glasgow have only scored over 50 against the 2 teams fighting for the wooden spoon this season, while so far we've done well away one rider having an off night could be the decider over 2 legs. Villads has been a great signing so far but he's never seen Poole or Edinburgh so he's a bit of an unkown.2 points

Despite the disappointment of throwing that away tonight, you have got to hand it to Ben Barker, that was an incredible performance tonight, which rubbed off on the rest of the team , well done Ben Barker2 points

Oh dear poor pilots pulled a defeat out of the jaws of victory š well done Plymouth, don't suppose @lbw will be having a celebratory flat white, but I can see @lewy running round the coliseum celebrating in his clown suit š2 points

Barker riding through the pain barrier wanted the win so badly, fair play to him, that was some effort2 points

What an embarrassment this Poole team are. Plymouth show more fight and deserved the win2 points

Hi Gavin, give it a rest mate. Your obsession with Poole is not only weird but the fact you think thst they always gain advantages from other teams. I don't understand why.2 points

They do,if you can find the link just go along the bar at the bottom to where you want to watch from, yes some good racing although the result was sorted before last 4 heats2 points

Good point, noticed Villads still listed as 5.00 in last nights programme, not sure how many meetings he needs to get a proper average but if we could go down the airport burger route and keep him as a 5.00 for 2026 that would be smashing.2 points

Straight 20 heats Edit there could well be a final for the top 4 just for the GP classification for the GP 2026. confirmed is a final and will be a run-off if tie for 4th after 20 heats2 points

While speedway does have a major enemy in planners and ultimately money it also is its own enemy, you canāt even get them to answer the phone or return emails when you need information to take to these planners2 points

Berwick had the opportunity to swap either rider for Trigger. I would've brought him in for Smith.2 points

I agree not getting that 3rd heat leader in the side was crucial, R/R does not work seen it in the last two home matches and only kept in it by the two superstars wright and king riding their nuts off.2 points

I agree but the point Ian made was that they don't even show you it during a race if they can avoid it, even a rider sliding off innocuously they immediately cut away. It's frustrating when the commentator is talking about it but you can't see it, I suppose it's just another example of the nanny state we live in these days. Like everyone else I don't want to see any rider injured but crashes and falls are part & parcel of the sport we love, yet they are removed from our view. edit; there's not many more violent sports than boxing, soon they'll be cutting away when someone gets decked.2 points

The legendary Polish former National speedway team coach, Marek Cieslak, commented in sportowefakty.pl results of Polandās sport Personality 2024 plebiscite announced yesterday. When mentioning fifth placed achieved by the 5-times world champion, Bartosz Zmarzlik, and problems with speedway, Marek Cieslak said this: It is a complex issue. We need the successes of our national teams, which we do not have. We have achieved the best league in the world, which has great viewership. The problem is that the Grand Prix series cannot keep up with this at all, and it is folding down. This is visible, for example, in the locations. There are no new ones, and in addition, large stadiums are slowly disappearing. The FIM and the promoter Discovery are responsible for this. In addition, the best riders in the world do not ride in the series. The recent nominations for wild cards and their translation into geographical terms are a joke. All this means that the Grand Prix arouses interest in fewer and fewer countries. I have the impression that even here (i.e. in Poland) it does not generate the same emotions as it used to. If it were, the successes and the phenomenon of Zmarzlik would have a much greater echo in the country. Do you think that it is time for Artiom Åaguta and Emil Sajfutdinov to return to the series? Initially I was against them, but now I think they should be in the series. Zmarzlik would also benefit from the presence of Artiom Åaguta or Emil Sayfutdinov. I have no doubt that he would still win, but then his successes, this rivalry with the Russians would arouse much more emotions. In this way, the audience would be larger. Please remember what rivals Tomasz Gollob had. He had to compete with Tony Rickardsson, Greg Hancock, Billy Hamill, Jason Crump, Mark Loram, Hans Nielsen, Leigh Adams, Ryan Sullivan and many other great stars. Each of them had papers for the title. Now the series lacks such figures.1 point

You should have had the flat white last night, as Glasgow beating Workington secured your play off place, NOT the bonus point against Plymouth.1 point

While I agree Hagon should have done better, perhaps the reason his average is so low, is that he's a reserve riding at number 2 & sometimes 3? Progress would've been keeping his average in a tougher position, but even that didn't happen. Of course this now means he's got a better chance of finding a team place next year.1 point

Great performance tonight, but the failure to make any team changes is going to cost the Bears, they are going to be in the mix for all the trophies, but trying to rely on getting decent quality guests or running with R/R is not going to work!!1 point

Track died off after heat 7, was almost as poor as Tobias which kept it closer as the Tigers riders looked faster just not getting out the gates as consistently. Another great heat 7 from Hodder and Flint made some good moves, he's been in some great form.1 point

Barry's involvement means he has peewee races before, at the interval and after the meeting, something which you don't see on the streams but he gets them well involved and makes the do a little victory lap and a wave to the crowd, I know how much this means to the little riders because my boy is one of them. all he talks about is when the next my first skid or meeting he can ride at and that's all down to Barry and his involvement. The crowds seem to be down to the move to Saturday night's and the social media team they have buzzing people up in the run up to every meeting, people are bringing people along now and we now see countless posts of people saying 'its my first time and I will be back for sure'. If this Saturday is anything like the last you actually have to get there early now if you want to get a seat in the grandstand. There was over 100 kids in the kids race too, excellent to see.1 point

āIt wasnāt our best performance of the year, far from it, and it felt a bit of a slog at times, but we were experimenting with track conditions and overall, it didnāt work. We were battling with that and Oxford came and fought hard, and they will be happy with the two young lads, Luke and Mitch, I thought they put in really creditable performances and that is pleasing for them. It was one of those nights where we had to battle but we got another three points on the board, and we move on and come back for a tougher test next week. āWe have had a few different conditions at Ipswich, and we are just trying to find out what is best for everyone and what everyone is happy with. It is a good time to do it but overall, it wasnāt brilliant and didnāt provide great racing and that is one thing we want to do. We will learn from it and have another crack at it next week and see if we can get the balance to get everything correct. Fair assessment from Hawkins there.1 point
