  1. Let's all take a breath and look at the bigger picture here. After years and years of ridicule and belittling towards British Speedway and it's structure, this week we've seen one of the best two legged fixtures in recent times in the second tier, culminating in a breath taking conclusion last night. Where do you start? First of all, massive credit and thank you to all the riders involved last night. They were a credit to their sport. That was fully committed, no fear speedway from everybody. I'd like to think I speak for everyone in sending our best wishes to Lasse Fredriksen who it sounds like will now miss the rest of the season. I was on commentary on Gladiators TV last night and that Heat 3 crash was perhaps the worst I've seen at Plymouth. To the crowd, what a night for Plymouth sport and British Speedway. They were crammed into the track and what an atmosphere. This goes for both set of supporters and it was a knowledgeable and respectful crowd. Everybody could see and appreciate the efforts the riders were going too for our entertainment. The noise at the end of the meeting with Plymouth getting on top was incredible. Plymouth is very quickly becoming a very difficult place for opposition teams with the atmosphere that's being created. Finally, to Mark Phillips and the whole Plymouth track staff. I take my hat off to them all. Not only was the race surface in great shape last night but their hard work to get the fences fixed not once but twice was astounding. They were rewarded with a fitting finale and I was glad that the stadium announcer got a warm round of applause going for them at the end of the night. Congratulations to the Pirates who take the bonus point and all the best for the rest of the season but haven't they been pushed all the way by a battered and bruised Plymouth?! I do think it's a shame the direction this forum is heading in these days with a lot of the unnecessary jibing that goes on from all angles. Speedway is a sport that is in desperate need of some help and assistance in this country and is facing some bleak times. Everyone, regardless of your personal allegiances or differences should always be supporting those putting on the show and doing what they can to boost the sport. Plymouth as a club is changing before our very eyes. The city is really getting behind the Gladiators and the club are doing all they can to provide a fantastic night out for all the family. It was great to see the fancy dress last night and the kids race being so popular. Heart warming to see the amount of Plymouth Argyle shirts on show, with people taking advantage of the season ticket offer. I've already had one message on Argyle's forum from someone who attended for the first time with his family last night and despite the long night, they loved every moment of it and will be back. We shouldn't be sat on this thread today attacking one another, we should be grateful and proud of the effort and character we saw from 14 riders last night who put on a terrific advert for British Speedway and showed if you do things right in promoting the event, if you have all the necessary safety precautions in place it can be a heck of a spectacle. Thank you Gladiators, Thank you Pirates - What a night!

  2. Who cares though. Its the nights entertainment that matters.

  3. One benefit of getting newbies in is after such an entertaining meeting which both sides contributed to a middle aged couple in the hospitality suite actually asked if they could leave a tip anywhere. Nice gesture Plymouth must be doing something right! You don't have to be top of the league to provide a great night out.

  4. Richard Lawson doubles up and has been a brilliant leader. Doesn’t seem to privatise either league. Just excellent all round professional.

  5. Firstly, put him/her on "ignore" then, plus you don't have to reply to anything he/she might say. Secondly (where you say) "offering up your opinions on anything and everything", that is what the Forum should be about, not the endless bickering and name calling which it now, nearly always, descends into.

  6. Everything that is wrong with this forum is on this thread. Plymouth win and beat a very good Poole side and all people can do is moan about the number one not being there or something else. you could argue that Lewis Kerr could have easily got up off the track when Plymouth on a 5-1, could argue then in the reruns that cairns didn’t allow any room for Spencer. Nicholls was on a 5-1 and bike gave up, Bowtell was trying just a bit to hard was on a 5-1 and slide off in heat 8. Lawson was his usual great self around the arena and set the track record in heat 1 apart from that it was pretty much nothingness from the rest of the pirates. To be fair i thought Tobias tried hard but the rest were poor which is unlike them normally but seems the norm of late, they will need to improve lots to win the play offs. I don’t think they can make any changes but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did. Plymouth are currently on a roll and the feel good factor around the place is evident with the crowd that are coming and the buzz that is on social media on Facebook etc. Think people just like sniping at Plymouth for the sake off it and it seems to have the opposite effect on what these people want.

  7. Apparently Zack overtook a Poole fan at Dorchester, on the way home, the only pass he made all night 😂

  8. Good to see Poole fans aren’t going into meltdown about losing an away meeting. I’d love them to spend a year in Plymouth or Berwick fans shoes.

  9. I agree with the post above, I'd estimate at the very lowest figure around 900, it looked, felt and sounded to me to be a crowd size of four figures last night. One of the best nights I've had at Plymouth Speedway and I've been going since 2009

  13. Rowe has been poor recently … why you think he did ok with 6 from 4 yet Kerr is a scapegoat with 5 from 2 rides …. Why does Rowe get a free pass … Kerr is riding better In July at home Kerr has scored 7,10,11,10,11 Rowe in the same meetings scored 5,6,6,9,8 Kerr is clearly not the issue

  16. How many riders have borrowed Hooky's engine this season, is it like the R/R tyre that gets passed around the team?

  17. People always say that especially saddlebow road, maybe its because his team hasnt won anything for such a long time. Expectations are always high at Poole and when we lose in the way we did it hurts.

  18. Entitled to what exactly? Used to winning? - definitely, and disappointed when Poole lose in the way they have? Absolutely.

  20. Yep, you are right and all the riders are over extending themselves because of the demands to make a living out of a sport that does not compete in financial reward terms with many other two wheeled sports. League racing in numerous countries and the GPs plus other individual meets and flying around Europe must take its toll on riders. The sports authorities need to take a step back in terms of expectations and need re evaluate the product in order to sell it to the highest bidder which in turn rewards the riders. As it stands the racing and entertainment value declines and that loses its appeal as the season drags on. For the UK it cannot compete because of the restrictions brought about by Brexit so the way the sports runs in this country has to be a different business model to the rest of Europe. Whether anyone is listening or cares is open for debate

  21. It’s about 50cm behind the start line so works when the front tyre just crosses the line

  22. Big win for Kings Lynn Young Stars and that wraps up the title. A lot of talent in that team.

  24. I'm not so forgiving, he was well enough to take 6 rides in his first meeting back, it's just the same as the rest, this is the new normal now, when riders came back from injury before, they came back everywhere, not just Poland... I'm idioting sick of it!

  25. Could you discuss this on the Poole thread, this is the thread to discuss another epic night of speedway in Plymouth, thank you

  28. Were they the 3 to go out and practice? I was just saying during the meeting that Batch could return to a top heat leader if only he got out and practiced more. Good on him. I know he's not everyone's cuppa tea but I like him and want him to do well this season

  29. Well I bought the stream which I must was excellent no issues at all, very good production and unbiased commentary although got a bit understandably excited towards the end. They even said Kerr was not at fault in their eyes in heat 3 or heat 12 from their angle but obviously the ref had a different view.

  30. While I agree with that, I would have said the same about Ben Cook & look what happened with him. Rider missing matches while racing abroad happens more & more these last few seasons, it's gotten to the point fans may wonder if their Polish club will "allow" them to race over here.

  31. People will pay 20 quid for that each week , hope Plymouth had a great turnstile night . Fair play to barker too after smashing himself to bits weds.

  32. Well done to Plymouth last night and especially Ben Barker, fantastic meeting. The inconsistency continues for Poole time and time again and that will be our downfall. Building next years team based on last nights performance we really need to have a clear out, some riders have got stale and need to move on.

  33. Great to see Sam riding so well in his last two races - after he'd spotted Cammi Brown sitting in the stand with a contract for next year.

  34. Apparently Batch blew an engine before heat 15 at Glasgow friday night. I heard his second engine wasn't as strong so he was using an engine borrowed from Hooky against the Cheetahs. He seemed to find a better setup for heat 13 after which I half expected to see him with Antti in 15. Jye was deserving of 15 though after a strong performance.

  37. Well Well Well little ole Plymouth turning over the mighty pirates, the biggest difference for me is Plymouth got what money can't buy togetherness throughout the clubfrom the riders, track staff, management promotion and supporters we got each others backs. Poole brought quite a few fans down and after ht 15 the Poole riders didn't even have the decency to acknowledge them straight back into the pits. I could say more but I won't..........for now.

  38. With no Tarasenko this season, I'm interested to know what injustice you will use when Glasgow walk the final. Can you let us all know now, so we can mentally prepare?

  43. lot of poole fans just look at final score and riders total they have no real idea of a good speedway meeting there are some who do get the sport mind and all tracks have there own idiots who cant see the effort put in by a rider without winning every heat big hats off to ben barker a true gladiator of the sport best performance off the season not just for himself but the whole of speedway riding injured to pull that off is fantastic and only few weeks ago he was scratching his head to try and score

  44. We lost by 8 there at the end of June with Cook and Kvech withdrawing. In the same meeting Tobi and Rew scored 25 between them. If they both have average meetings id like to think we have a chance.

  45. Just to be picky, Plymouth didn't lose a heat leader, they lost a second string riding at number 3. ps Get well soon Lasse

  47. Nice to see, presumably the club must've requested a quick detour for a mini-flypast as the smoke was switched on for the short time over the stadium.

  48. How did we throw that away. Zach was rubbish all night and got passed by Joe T in heat 14.
