Unfortunately today’s clubs are made up of individual riders who have little concept of team representation but ride simply to make a living from whoever opens the wallet and squanders cash on some mercenary gate and go merchants. Speedway in the UK should stop pretending to be a team sport, it made up of individuals seeking a living and it will never go back to the halcyon days of a team sport. Birmingham played its part but alas it got swallowed up in the shambles that is today portrayed a league of teams which is a joke. Birmingham and its backers gave it the best they could but were never going to be a success in the contrived farce that is league racing in this country. Birmingham, hold your head up as a contributor, you did make a difference.6 points

Agree. Unfortunately not a winning night for the Brummies and a sad night for UK speedway. Where does it go from here, who knows but Birmingham, thank you for your contribution to speedway in the UK over the years and the memories with the likes of Arthur Browning etc and many a good meeting at Rayleigh pre 73. Let’s hope someone somewhere can revive the sport in the Midlands.6 points

Nobody's disagreeing, but everyone is getting bored with you constantly posting the same thing in every match thread. You do it to WUM, and its boring and adds nothing to the discussion.5 points

Great advert for speedway that today. Massive Crowd, great atmosphere great Home win, some fantastic racing, great weather. I thought the track prep and the work they did during in the meeting to keep the dust down was top class, they also managed the time between races really well. Even the queues for food and drink moved quickly today. The presentation of the meeting was first class, the big screen now with audio really adds to the show. Belle Vue would made some good well deserved money today and sent the crowd home very happy. A great day all round.5 points

Personally let the so call Premiership get on with it .The Championship will survive in it’s present form. Haven't a clue how the Premiership get out of their situation .3 points

A pleasure as in free points every year? They should never have been allowed into the PL, special dispensation to ride Monday in CL was the common sense solution for Brum3 points

How about Klindt writing "must turn up to ride for Plymouth at some point" in his log book? 😂😂3 points

If you didn't enjoy today's meeting id give up if I was you. Roadworks why even mention it, nothing to do with the Aces and they Tweeted about it ahead of the meeting. Yes you can't pay on back straight with cash but you can very quickly use the app to buy a ticket on your phone, which I know they consistently tell people. I got in after 11:30 and got a program, there was still a few left after start time as was announced. I also got hot food at 11:55 and they had everything left but pies. As for the track this is where you really are talking absolute nonsense, it was in superb nick and produced good racing on a very very hot day. As for the toilets yes it's not great there was no water but that was due to a burst pipe, these things happen. Stop moaning.3 points

I was feeling fed up that the nice long bank holiday weekend was coming to an end … and then I read this . Someone pass me a rope …..3 points

No.... Just running scared... The Ipswich "Devon Loch" Witches usually find a way to blow it.... I can see Hawkins doing a Kevin Keegan style meltdown when the pressure is on.. Not sure who I love to watch more when the TV zooms in when they are losing... Him or Stead....3 points

Decent meeting, great result. A result we would be very happy with in play offs. in front of a huge crowd to. Probably the biggest none play off/ craven crowd I’ve seen for a long time.3 points

Great team riding from Bewley to help Tate! I love how Belle Vue have all details, heat number and lap number and the 2 min countdown plus the riders live split. Just a couple heats early on they missed some action with not the correct camera angle but all in all this for me (BVTV) is better than BSN and TNT. I appreciate more info on screen whilst watching but just my preference.3 points

Delivering newspapers as a kid a sliding round pavement corners whilst braking and singing there was only one michael lee. My dad wasn't best pleased when I wore my tyre out! And those bank holidays double headers, 11am at Saddlebow Road then all pile down to foxhall for the return in the afternoon. Happy days...3 points

A huge shame that the Brummies have gone out with such a whimper. A complete disgrace from Musielak tonight who retired in three of his five rides. Also a disgrace from him & Zagar not to come out with the rest of the team to applaud and say goodbye to the fans. Wank3rs.2 points

Fully agree. What’s he supposed to do when he’s been moved by the start Marshall, not like he’s choose to move by himself he’s being forced. Crazy from the ref really.2 points
-
Can’t stand Tungate but that was farcical …. Was clearly asked to move over and did and gets excluded …. Wrong decision for me2 points
-
Harsh on Tungate that... what's to stop these, notoriously neutral, start marshal's timing riders out in the future?2 points

That makes absolutely no sense. If it was top team wins the title without the play offs, it would STILL be a meaningless fixture! In fact, there would have been several meaningless fixtures an awful lot sooner if it wasn’t for the play offs. There was a kings Lynn fan still not giving up hope of qualifying as soon as a fortnight ago. They would have had to have given up the dream literally months ago if it was simply top team wins the title.2 points

This will be our last meeting of the ways. I could write 10,000 words but may be just a few are far more relevant for me. Like many I have grown weary. I am sad of watching you exist. A DNR sticker is the best recourse. Like a parent, a relative, a loyal pet, a great friend, it breaks my heart to see you in pain, living a sad existance. Not alive but existing. I will shed a tear but i will be thankful that the pain is over and I can remember all the great days and not the bad days! Stay safe my friend . May be we meet one day again, at that perfect Oval up in heaven!2 points

Glasgow are not moving into the Premiership, there will only be one League next year. Birmingham gone, and rumours are Oxford as well, but which division.(Prem or Champ)2 points

I wouldn't think Oxford riders are owed money. If they were Janowski's Polish team would not let him travel.2 points

I think what I said was that I hoped to get to Workington at some point in the future. I certainly did NOT say I get my fix at Workington. But feel free to put up the post where I say I go to Workington. I doubt very much you will find it though 'cos I never said it. Tell you what, I'll save you the bother My actual quote That's total rubbish. Very few of my just over 5,000 posts have been "moaning" about Berwick or "Mr. Barrie". My "observations" are not all negative about Berwick. Re-read my previous post where I praise previous and the current promotions. The only thing you are correct about is I go to Redcar by choice. That's my personal choice. And when I get the chance, I will head across to the West Coast to go to a Workington meeting.2 points

I saw many meetings at Workington at Derwent Park, but it was my first meeting at Northside. How difficult is it to understand that???2 points

Should get these rules out of the rulebook then... or enforce them, rules shouldn't be optional from either side, that's a very big problem with Speedway and it's not getting any better.2 points

According to this forum, Tungate had walked from the club...and that Oxford riders were owed large sums of monies. Guess time will tell if there is any foundation to them.2 points

Lynn to win by 20, Tungate to drop his mechanic live on Eurosport.2 points

just watched a random meeting from back in the day. My favourite place to visit was always Brandon, and Poole was always the top team when I was growing up (now belle Vue 😜) how great would it be for Coventry to return to top league and Poole to return to the top flight to. speedway could be great again1 point
-
Personally I don't have a problem with it, as long as there is a club at a decent level and it's competitive, that'll do me. We had a pretty successful time in the CL under Mr Dickson and none of the fans were asking to move up to PL on a Thursday/Monday night as shown with the drop in crowds.1 point

i dont mind tac subs but home teams shouldnt use them imo if you are that far behind on your own track then tough luck1 point
-
I’d also go one further and say imagine watching Chelsea vs wolves and Chelsea go 2-0 up so the rules give wolves a goal to make it 2-1 and more interesting! The tactical sub for me is a joke. If you are behind in the meeting, it’s because you’re not good enough, you shouldn’t get another chance to get close.1 point

It still doesn’t sit well with me that the top team doesn’t win it. Imagine finishing top of the premier league and yet not winning the title, but instead having to enter a play off system with five other teams who made up the top 6. Yes you get play offs in lower divisions, but that’s for promotion. The top team are still champions! Ipswich will finish top, they’ve taken every single aggregate bonus point in both rounds of fixtures against every club (unless Sheffield manage to be the first next week) and yet could end up empty handed by having an off night in the semi’s or final. Yes, those are the “rules” and everyone knows them before a wheel is turned, but it’s a nonsense. They’re the best team in the league (not Leicester as some comically have been claiming in recent weeks), and deserve to be champions. Why not have the team that finished top are champions, but there’s still a top four race to prolong meaningful fixtures, by having the top four then enter the KOC, two semis and a final? That also does away with the farcical situation of having odd teams enter, and one club getting a “bye”.1 point

Exactly this. Lots of posters here and on social media passing on the latest Chinese Whisper doing the rounds. Unless the poster is prepared to name the source etc they may as well not bother, it's like doing your GCSE maths and not showing your working out.1 point

Not the best meeting I've seen at NSS in terms of racing but with a full crowd the atmosphere was very good. Bonus point might have been up for grabs had Mulford not hindered Blodorn for two laps in heat 8. Kept getting Morris & Pickering mixed up, which one scared Zischke out of a point in heat 6 or 7?1 point

I said a certain number of times, not an equal amount. So that stat is pointless. it might have changed a bit in the new tv deal as all Sunday matches are now being shown live.1 point

Ian Thomas was a top promoter of speedway. And presentation was a strong point of his. I'll always recall the 1970 season when packed crowds at Derwent Park saw and heard the Comets (and away 7) march from the pits to starting area with the track staff to the Radetzky March by Strauss...that tune is still my fave classical piece. The sometimes downside was when you only counted 6 Comets - Ian would explain Bob took a fall last night, at Sheffield, so R/R will operate (naff to hear this about Bob Valentine). Although sometimes riders had just arrived and missed the aforementioned march however made their heats. But most certainly great days to live on in the memory bank. UTC.1 point

If Tolley continues somewhere else he should do it at Championship level to stem losses, try and get Rosco in as team manager and ideally find an experienced co-promoter. His heart is clearly in the right place but he needs a competent team around him.1 point

With only 500 attending, even with a winning team, you would still not be hitting a huge 100% increase... And, even if you did, that would still be only 1000.. The bottom line is, the people of Birmingham, like so many other major cities in the UK, are just not that interested in Speedway...1 point

@Gavan always goes on that Jaimon Lidsey can't ride anywhere apart from NSS, yet he has a higher away average then Jason Doyle and only 0.08 below Emil.1 point
