  1. But the season isn’t “Over” is it? 🙄 Couldn’t have said that better myself. This sport collectively attracts the most miserable buggers on earth unfortunately. Whinge after whinge after whinge. Speedway in Britain has always had a finishing date of October 31st. There’s plenty of time to fit in any remaining fixtures. We at Ipswich used to run fixtures right up until Halloween in the not too distant past, with people dressing up in Halloween costumes and prizes awarded to the best outfit!

  2. I do feel some people are going a bit overboard on the cancelations, especially in the PL. The season does not finish until the end of October, so there's still around 6 weeks to run 4 matches. The alternative is to finish up by the end of August... and people would be complaining about that. I think it's more imperative that clubs invest in track covers more than ever, with riders not wanting to ride at the slightest site of a wet track these days, track covers would certainly allow many of the fixtures to take place when there's been the 4 o'clock shower that leaves a track saturated and the sun is out at start time. The CL on the other hand, that does seem to be a bit more shambolic with all of their competitions still having a long way to run.

  4. It was the right decision at Poole too, just because as it turned out they could of raced doesnt make it a bad decision.

  5. you wouldnt believe we had the best summer in years and no week break for Speedway of Nations, this was the year that we could and should have finished earlier

  6. A simple rule !!! If riders are tied after 20 heats it goes to wins, 2nds and 3rd’s - if that cannot split them then the fastest time set by each rider is the determining factor. It shouldn’t be but it is. All because they couldn’t work out who beat who in the 4 rider tie in Cardiff in 2024.

  7. See it on facebook as well people moaning about having the play offs in September due to the weather . September can sometimes be the best month of the year and we still have 6 weeks tll the end of the season anyhow. Sometimes a speedway meeting can be rained off its just unlucky.

  8. Always best to wait for the official announcement of the dates, rather than making yourself look silly by ranting about something you have made up in your head. 😉

  10. I don't understand why you think it is farcical. For those finishing in the top 10, the heats are simply a qualifying process for the LCQs and the Final. These races then define the finishing positions and the points awarded to each rider. It may not be correct in your eyes, or anyone else who thinks the pre-2020 system should still be used, but it isn't farcical. It's no different to the playoff process that decides league champions, where the season long matches are 'qualifiers' and the winners could be any of the top 4. BriSCA F1 stock cars used to award the National Points Championship (and the right to wear the coveted silver roof for a year) to the driver scoring the most points over the whole season. But now, the title is awarded to the winner of a 12 round shootout in the last couple of months of the season, contested by the top 16 drivers at the cut off point. NASCAR in America also use an end of season shootout which means any of the top 16 at the cut off can be declared champion. These changes have been made to increase entertainment levels and public interest. They may seem incorrect to some, but farcical is just an opinion.

  14. Agree - It has just been an unlucky weather window this year It could happen in any month whenever the plays off were organised for

  15. Mike, you always talk a good game but I sometimes wonder why you come on this forum because most of your posts are full of negativity. If I had a quid for everytime you've used the phrase "mickey mouse sport" I certainly wouldn't be taking my holidays in Cleethorpes or Skeggy! I'm also having difficulty understanding your recent post. If the play offs are to remain, are you suggesting that the finals should be held in July or August when the weather has a better chance of behaving itself? The league matches themselves have to lead to a climax of some sorts so if the play offs are held in July, what the hell then happens in August and September? I've known past Julys that have been a complete washout and Septembers that have been akin to an indian summer so blaming the powers that be for this current weather situation with the subsequent cancellations etc is both unfair and pretty unreasonable.

  19. You could argue that having top notch machinery is part of being an excellent Speedway rider and not unlucky at all. It's no coincidence that you often see the same riders with mechanical issues

  20. absoultely ridiculous that some clubs havent finished there regular scheduled league meetings, and now scrambling to get the play offs arranged too. some fines should be coming for those clubs in my opinion.

  21. There's actually 11 individual shareholders, but with 34 shareholdings, as the shares are issued in five different voting classes.

  22. Premiership is governed by the TNT deal but the Championship has made an absolute horlicks of their fixtures this year with none of the competitions anywhere near being concluded. No doubt due to riders being unavailable at various times due to foreign commitments, not to mention all the guests used for uninjured riders. Its been a complete mess and will probably only get worse before the end of October. A massive rethink needed for next year.

  23. Mind you, back in the day, Freddie Mockford used to employ a member of staff specially to go out after Tom Farndon's races to pick up the bits that fallen off his bike during the race!

  24. However, Directors “run” the business on a day to day basis not shareholders irrespective of voting rights. Since Speedway Futures was only formed last year it seems like they have spent the time since then shaping something or other. As an aside the NFL have “NFL properties” doing a similar role albeit on a scale UK speedway couldn’t hold a candle too. That said, good luck to all concerned in their endeavours to bring about a strong future for our beloved sport.

  25. TNT production costs significantly higher than BSN maybe as much 10 times as much for play offs with additional cameras being used Not been in Leicestershire today but know when I left at 8pm last night it was very heavy rain with roads flooded

  29. A "summer sport" running (hopefully, fingers crossed), in October....!!☺️ Hopefully Scott has developed some innovative way of settling who wins the final if it doesn't get completed...😄 Sadly, it is very much rinse and repeat with UK Speedway., As has been suggested on here, maybe it's time for one point each if a meeting gets called off? I am sure that alone would get more meetings ran on time during the season, given no income would be forthcoming for either promoters or riders... Track covers have been shown to work so there really isn't any excuse to not invest in them.. And any bona fide professional sport, so impacted by weather, would make such defence against the vagaries of the UK weather top of its list of priorities.. Priority race nights should make the completion of the season something easy to deliver... Given seven teams, six matches per week were possible with only 84 needing to be ran.. Three and a half months of Speedway to be completed in six months.. There is a phrase that goes "Winners always find a way"... UK Speedway definitely needs some "Winners" in the leadership of it going forward....

  31. But then again, we could have an 'Indian summer' and have better track conditions in October than in August and September. A few years back I was on holiday in Suffolk in October and we had bright sunshine and daytime temperatures of 18 degrees. On the other hand, I remember an August one year when I went to stock car meetings with heavy rain that would have called off a speedway meeting on all 5 Saturday's in the month.

  32. Exactly and it’s not as if the points difference is vast for the non-finalists and the finalists. The more points scored in the 20 heats the better chance of scoring 12 rather than 11 in finishing 2nd in the LCQ’s and so on 10 to 9, and 8 to 7. I like it - easy to work out ( now WBD have stopped cocking up the scorechart for TV ).

  33. I don't think any of the changes were designed to stop BZ winning at all, you give him too much credit. They were designed to keep both fans and riders interested in the result to as late as possible, doesn't matter who those riders are.

  34. Also what’s logical about scoring 11 pts in the Heats and finishing with 7 pts because you were good enough to get in the LCQ.!!! Farcical. Interesting too see what they will come up with next year to stop Bartosz winning.( bonus points if you make the gate🤔)

  35. Thats too sensible for the authorities to comprehend. Just like the stupid scoring system. Which has proved on a few occasions farcical and as you have said the above rule is the most logical, but no they decide thats too easy. They have to go on fastest time!! Just like a rider can score 6 pts and still have the chance making the semi. Not to worry if some poor sod has scored 11 or 12 pts. " Oh no, what will do is give the rider who's been crap all night the same chance as a rider who's had a really good meeting to get to the final! Maybe to even it up even a little bit more. After the riders have had their five rides. Regardless of what they have scored. Have another 4 races Just put them all in a hat. The winner from each heat goes to the final. "Now you all cry thats not fair!!," but is it fair a rider scoring 6 pts should have an equal chance of a rider who has scored 12 pts in reaching the final?

  38. BSN should be completed by the end of June (early season competition). KOC should be completed by the end of August (top league KOC completed in July) If that was to be followed there would be loads of time to complete other fixtures.

  39. As you have no idea whats going on between the two clubs and the riders availability , or even if its Poole who cant fit it in, I think your comment is pathetic.
