  1. I would like to praise the Glasgow fans for being very welcoming and gracious in defeat. I sat in the grandstand and there wasn't any negative words spoken against their own riders or Poole's. Applause was there for all riders throughout the meeting and for the presentations. Many a Glasgow fan and official, even the referee, shook my hand in congratulations. The Glasgow set up take a bow. Congratulations Poole PIRATES โ˜ ๏ธ on winning the Championship League Title ๐Ÿ† 2025 u've done us all proud. Gonna enjoy my celebration flat white โ˜• ๐Ÿ˜€ C'mon the Boyzzz โ˜ ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ช yes yes yes!

  2. Not a bad imaginary trophy to have in fairness. What a night of racing that is just the complete norm at Ashfield now. Not one person in the stadium or on BSN left that meeting disappointed aside from tigers fans with the result. The tigers gave absolutely everything and once we were level on aggregate everything that went before became irrelevant because we had them where we wanted them and unfortunately it was just not to be. That heat 15 from bomber was phenomenal he was so far behind in last place and then about a bend behind in second place but put it on the line to keep the meeting alive. Howarth was the correct choice in both races also, sadly it was just not to be. The only frustrating thing for me was in the super heat he made the gate and instead of doing what he had done all night which was run everybody and anybody up to the fence he stuck to the inside and that was that. Disappointing to win the league overall and come away with 0 trophies but I will say what I seem to say most seasons now. I would rather be entertained like that every week and finish second than watch FTG processional tripe and win. Congratulations to the Facenas on another great season and thanks to everybody at Glasgow for all their hard work throughout.

  3. The problem the #2 always has with heat 15/16 is it's just so long since they were last out. Their last ride at home is heat 10. Two grading breaks and an interval. The track changes, the bike cools down, the rider cools down a bit too. I think it's the hardest rider position to throw in the last heat, regardless of how good they look. Also, he didn't always gate so good last night either! Looked incredible when he did though. I was happy with trusting Kyle again. 2,2,2,3 on his first four rides. I don't think Dan was obviously a better choice. Leon could've been worth a punt, but I always think unless your big riders have been obviously off the pace, you trust them in the big heats. Someone does have to come last though. Bomber got beaten by both anyway, so it seems daft to point at Kyle. Both were beaten fair and square.

  4. I would have gone with Nagel in the superheat because up until his engine failure he had been flying. I also feel that Howarth couldn't handle the pressure in those last two heats and a younger more fearless head might have been the better option. In the end Harris had given his all and had no more to give so it's all a moot point now.

  5. Lewis Kerr has really come good lately, I have been critical of him during the season and doubted if he had it in him but he has definitely come good when it mattered most. I think most would have put Flint in the superheat, it was obvious Howarth was not going to trouble the scorers after heat 15.

  6. Congratulations to Poole , both teams rode really well in a great spectacle of speedway Packed stadium , good atmosphere and cut and thrust racing . I attended hoping Glasgow would pull the deficit back and gradually they did but that superheat was one race to far Many comets fans there with a few monarchs fans too. Also a really good fireworks display at the end Well done Glasgow speedway

  7. We interviewed Chris Harris because he won, by quite some way the public vote as rider of the night. This was after the trophy presentation and while the Poole riders were at the other side of the stadium being interviewed. The rest of the Poole rider interviews are on Facebook and have been viewed 9000 times so far. We also interviewed Richard Lawson and Zach Cook on the main show as soon as they took their helmets off after the super heat.

  9. Lots of clubs have pretty good HD level streaming services so they could be used by the main broadcaster. Similar to how football "round up" programmes show goals from every match... It isn't always the main broadcaster covering all of them but local streamers linked to the clubs.. And of course you have BSN... Much cheaper for the main broadcaster, even if they pay a fee to the streaming companies for their content, (so they gain too)... Maybe a "match of the week" showing 20 mins or so from that match, and then well edited, snippet highlights showing the "best bits" from races around the country of all the other matches. ...? Get a couple or three riders in the studio to discuss their involvement in the meetings shown, and what their week looks like re flights to Poland, Sweden, France, Denmark etc etc... A window into the unique life of a Speedway rider, which I think would interest those non followers to take more of an interest, and raise the profiles of the riders.... Add in a five minute "young stars" segment and you would have a decent 60 mins magazine programme...

  10. Yes Nagel would have been a good choice too, either way definitely not Howarth. Harris absolutely gave his all, he was amazing.

  11. Great meeting to attend, the fans tried there best to get the Tigers over the line but it was heartbreak in the ill named Superheat. Should 30 heats of league title Speedway really be decided like that ?. You will be lucky to see a better individual performance than that from Bomber tonight. His hunting down and outrageous passes had to be witnessed live to really appreciate the skill and courage involved. He tried his best to get them over the line but ultimately failed. Like you say the Pirates gated better in both of heats 15 and 16 and it did slicken off enough to preclude him repeating his heroics of heat 15. Don't think Kyle Howarth was the man for the Superheat following his performance in 15. His gating also hadn't been great throughout the meeting. The Pirates found enough to do it again, you can only admire them for that but it would have been nice to see the Tigers lift the trophy.

  12. Wouldโ€™ve preferred for them to just show the celebrations, couldnโ€™t believe when they were interviewing Harris, it was geared up all evening for Glasgow tonight dethrone the pirates. It did feel like Poole vs the world this last week. And the Pirates won

  13. Great post... I watch most sports now on YouTube with around 15 to 20 mins highlights packages... Really got into Baseball this year, and now a massive Dodgers fan!!! Sitting through 2 hours worth of TV to watch less than 20 mins of racing doesn't really work for me nowadays... A highlights package could run 30 mins, and could even show every race, and get some detailed pre and post match nterviews with some of the key riders on view.. My lad is 22, and daughter is 27, and they rarely watch "live" TV programmes due to their busy lifestyles, so they use "catch up" to watch when they can, and binge watch series.. For me, the sport needs people involved from outside the "Speedway Bubble" as they seem almost brainwashed into doing the same old, same old, "there is no other way", often ludicrous, operating model... In house streaming only appeals to the converted so ideally the sport will get itself strongly on line DAILY on Tik Tok, Instagram, YT etc, and use the riders personalities, not just racing, to keep the sport in potential punters awareness and viewing algorithms... 30 mins to an hour a week on any of BBC, ITV, C4 or C5 can only move the sport forward quicker than 2 hours on TNT or SKY, or BSN... To bring great marketing people, and sponsors, in from "outside" requires the sport to have a huge amount of greater recognition and awareness than it has now... Get that fixed and, given the very low starting point fanbase wise, just an initial 10,000 extra punters a week interested by what they see online and/or on TV, would be "huge" for the sport, and provide great momentum to build it further. ...

  14. Congrats to Poole, especially as they won a superheat away from home to seal the deal, no mean feat. Well done to Glasgow for finishing top and for providing a great track for a wonderful night of speedway.

  15. Nothing to do with Bowes fall out with Workington. Just don't rate the guy. Bases himself in POL. Just about to turn 24 and has ridden in POL since 2021 also in the POL U24 which he would not qualify for next year anyway. By example in 2025 he was 38th of 59 riders who rode the league regular and thats after 4 years riding POL and 2nd Lge of Swe. He may possibly ride to his 5.63 GSA but to me even that is because he rode against plenty of inferior quality riders to those in POL U24. At Poole he got 13 from 6 rides for Worky then 2 from 4 rides as a guest in late August. Can have his moments but I do question if he would be more suitable if others with more scope are available. I could be wrong of course and its just my opinion. I think his participation in POL could be in doubt as without POL U24 even his av in POL 2nd Div was 55th out of 59 regular riders from his 18 matches. Remember he has been in POL riding for 4 years not 1/2 years.

  17. Fantastic meeting. Congratulations to Poole. For me, Kerr won it for Poole by his pass on Thompson in heat 12 scrubbing the possibility of a Glasgow win without the need for a super heat.

  18. Stayed at Shorefield Country Club this week {sounds posh} persuaded the wife to attend the Poole meeting with me on Wednesday night. Back in the day when we had southern tours, it was always a trip to Poole after Berwick had been at Weymouth the previous night. So my last visit to Poole was a 39-39 draw with Kings Lynn in 1980 when i was just a youngster. Arrived early on Wednesday as i reminded the wife, this is not Berwick where i can finish my pint at 6-50pm and flash my season ticket and walk straight in. Big queues already forming but we steadily moved further forward then shock horror we were in the cash only line, but i had bought tickets online looked at the queue for that line and well a few swear words under my breath lol. But a Poole fan then hearing our plight and we had came from Berwick let us into the queue so whoever you were sir a big thankyou. i have read the comments about the meeting not being the best you will ever see, with very little happening once riders came out the 2nd bend but the score kept it interesting till the end. But apart from that i found the meeting was run very slickly, excellent PA System ensured we did not miss any announcements or race results and the kingsize hotdog went down well. Met forum member @LisaColette as well. Meeting was done and dusted by around 9-15pm, so plenty time to get to station to get train back to New Milford. Just like to offer my congratulations following tonight's result at Glasgow on becoming 2025 Champions,

  20. Agree. It felt BSN were there to crown Glasgow. First thing they did instead of celebrating the victorious team was a dour interview of Harris being disappointed. What about showing the victorious team?

  21. A brilliant meeting for the neutral, a heart pounder for Tigers and Pirates fans. Glasgow did what I expected them to do and started to take control of the meeting until HT 15 when their momentum stopped. After seeing Howarth looking so rattled in the pits after finishing last in 15 I thought surely he would be replaced. A 2nd and 3rd repeat in the super heat would have been enough but Cook and Lawson finished in style. Much has been said about the first leg track conditions, but why on earth would Poole set up the track to suit Glasgow? First look at Ashfield tonight before the meeting was as predicted, outside chopped up and super grippy for Harris. Nobody would have expected anything less. I rarely post these days , but it is always a pleasure to look in every now and then and enjoy reading the displeasure of the Pirates continued success from the anti Poole brigade. Up the Pirates

  22. Success after success for Poole... You cannot even say they are happy to be a big fish in a small pond, because even the top tier is no more than a puddle in the grand scheme of things with regards to pro sport recognition in this country... A very astute leadership team, who run it like a business, not a hobby. Who consistently deliver what their punters want, which is the only thing that matters in business if you want to make money...

  25. It's absolutely possible. everything is possible. you're viewing it from a rider/machinery perspective. that approach has got us this far. it's time to start to think about selling the public a product they want not what the makers of the product want to provide. I can guarantee you riding or being a mechanic or a TM/Promoter at a speedway meeting is way more exciting than it is attending one as a supporter. these people probably sit there and scratch their heads as to why nobody turns up as they probably all have a great time. race finishes 2 minutes on next heat starts. have a 5 min grading break after heat 5 and 10 if there's been no natural stoppages. make the participants adapt to that. will it effect the quality of the on track action? I doubt it.

  26. Your time for meetings is not possible nor may I suggest accurate. As example, Why does a 33% increase in heats from 15 to 20 require 50% more time from 60 to 90 minutes? In all seriousness, the minimum that can be allowed for each heat is circa five minutes taking into account riders entering and exiting the track before and after races, preparing to start and of course track grading and that is without on track incidents. You are correct that more can and should be done to fill the time between races - Having a bloke on the centre green talking inane nonsense and laughing at his own jokes which nobody understands is just not good enough.

  28. Yes but Tobias' 2nd division Danish fixtures were mainly on weekends! Next season it's rumoured that he'll be racing in the Danish senior league on Wednesdays.

  29. When we signed Villads we never new his teams in Poland and Denmark would reach their playoffs finals plus a few of his missing meetings were only because his polish teams had a rain offs and they just put it on the following week and Poland seem to get priority

  30. It could also be said that a bike failure in heat 14 cost Poole the point that would have given them the aggregate!

  32. They should do a one off challenge match at Poole 29 Oct v Ipswich. Let Poole use a couple of PL riders to bolster the side. Shovvy and Gavan watching the meeting from the centre green or even team managers on the night! Live on BSN all proceeds going to the Ben Fund. Everyones a winner!

  34. Nice to see British speedway recognising how brilliant the Ipswich vs Leicester meeting was produced and fan turn out, to remove the British Final Race (which was the best race in years) from the official British speedway homepage and replace it with the Witches winning the title and making it look very professional is a nice touch and shows the sport moving in the right direction, I think all fans who attended that meeting can attest to how amazing the atmosphere was and how the celebrations on the centre green was the perfect finish to the season and also to show how it can/should be done.

  35. Yes but to pick Howarth who hadn't gated all night was clearly a poor decision.

  36. I'm pretty much gonna say the same. Congrats to Poole and Lewis Kerr was your matchwinner. I would also have put Flint out in the Super Heat, buts that hindsight for you. Last night was my first at Ashfield in a few years and it reminded me why i love he sport. Gutted we lost but i came away just happy that I'd seen an awesome meeting.

  39. Commiserations to Glasgow, what a fight they put up and took it the wire. Bomber was on another level tonight apart from heat 16. Well done to the Pirates. The meeting swung in a different direction during the night but Poole are the 2025 league champions. Fourth time in five years.

  40. Heartbraking to lose after clawing it back to equal but incredible effort from both teams. 2 equal teams fighting it out over 30 heats and it goes to a golden heat, either team deserved the win but well done to Poole for getting it over the line. Villads engine failure could have been the decider for us but Lawson's and Tobi's exclusions could have easily went the other way so cannot complain. Track took a few heats to warm up but really picked up towards the end, coincidentally coincided with Bomber starting to miss the gate ๐Ÿค” Both captains put in true captains displays tonight as well, great riding from both of them. Hard to say if it was a mistake keeping Kyle in the golden heat, Dan looked a bit slow in heat 12 and Villads had an engine failure in his final race. Could have used Leon but he rides the exact same line as bomber wants so they might have gotten in each others way. Hope some of the tension in the stadium made it through on stream, think the fan's heart rates were all higher than the riders.

  47. It's almost pointless worrying about riders for next year, given how obscenely different views seem to be on league structure and points limits for next year right now. I'm not sure they've even agreed when to have the AGM yet.

  48. I can't quite agree with that statement as we ultimately withdrew all our sponsorship in the sport as a result of the spiralling costs which over a very short time just became ridiculous . In the sport we went from half a dozen riders using Japs with the rest on two valve Jawas all of which could be home serviced by the average( Journey man) rider or an informed individual .You had Ivan & Co on works engines but to a large extent the rest of the riders operated at an affordable level . Enter first the two valve Piper Conversion ( not a huge cost ) then the Street conversion ( half the cost of a new engine from memory ) Weslake ,four valve Jawa and Godden in the mix as well all in a matter of a few years . Riders being as we know are influenced very easily chopped and changed at a whime ,we spent upwards of over 25k( on engines alone ) in three yrs and this was in the seventies . Imo that period is when the dynamics of the sport changed the riders took control to a large extent part of their reasoning was the inceased cost of being competitive .Up until this point the average rider didn't have a tuner lucky to have two bikes and went to a primary job the next morning .This was when the the sport was at it's peak now it has all but dropped off a cliff and your average rider wants to make a full time living out of it !
