  2. I watched the Aussie meetings on bsn and I think Reid will do okay, he can gate, and is a racer, may need to calm himself a bit though. Will be an interesting watch. Disappointed that Jacob Hook does not have a place. We really need to stop losing riders that increase their average due to the team limits, it's always the 5 pointers that lose out.

  5. Blimey the lad isn't even in the country and he's being criticised, give him a break. Many years ago there was a couple of young lads from New Zealand who spent a lot of time hitting the deck or the fence, remember some other riders wanted them banned. Briggs and Mauger were their names, i often wonder how their careers panned out.

  6. Definitely not a one track rider, rides well home and away, any team would welcome him. He is not a gp rider standard and his average shows that but an exciting rider who never gives up and worth a place in any team.

  7. No he’s not quite on the level of Kurtz, Holder, Bewley Fricke but he isn’t far behind. He’s an exciting rider to watch and anyone prem team would have him

  19. I think if you do want to be successful as a team without an out and out number 1, you need to be tracking a number 6 that is better than whoever Leicester are going to have in that position. Maybe somebody like a Klindt, who has the capability of banging in some big scores from that position and climbing out of the reserve berth. From memory the number 6 position of Dad's Army was pretty much a revolving door all season, with most riders spending a spell there. Without that rider, to make replacements during a meeting, you're going to need to be at least 4 points up prior to heats 13 and/or 15 to be in with a chance of league points. Dougy should be okay in those heats at home but the rest will be a lottery.

  20. The only reason dad's army won that year is you had a group of previous top line riders but they were all at least a decade past their peak but were still good enough to pull it off as the quality of the league in general that year was probably the worst in top flight history.

  22. Any team would welcome him as a great all rounder. In the same bracket as Jaimon and Doyle who have similar home, away and overall averages. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/2025-rider-statistics/

  24. But that deal was already done. Maybe the last rider is too I don’t know. You also have to look at value for money. Jack may be expensive, but they may feel he’s the one rider worth pushing the boat out for. If Pickering is after similar money (and I’m not saying he is), then maybe they feel that isn’t value for money as he’s not in that class of rider. Doyle was very expensive at Ipswich, someone mentioned earlier that Pickering was asking for similar to what Doyle was getting. None of us really know the finer points, but there plenty of people who claim Pickering is demanding big money so there’s probably an element of truth in that.

  25. Dad's Army was the Covid season as well when the top riders stayed away, Bewley, Kurtz and Jack Holder participated with Bewley & Holder finishing 1 & 2 in the averages but they weren't the riders then that they are now. I'm inclined to agree that you generally don't win anything without a number one, I hope I'm proved wrong... but can't see it personally.

  26. Not having a real number one will always sting a team in the top flight. besides Peterborough’s dads army side I can’t remember another side solidly packed doing well.

  27. Last signing going to be Pickering, shame as he’s as he’s thinking he’s at a different level than he actually is, Championship heat leader at best, nowhere near the Kurtz, Fricke, J Holder, Bewley level on his best of days. Would rather settle with someone with room for home and improvement away than a one track pony home rider

  32. Sounds like you've counted Killeen as a 3.00, but he's the rising star. The 37 point average is only for the top 6 riders. Killeen doesn't count. The 6th rider (Etheridge or other) has to have a minimum of 3.00. And there's a maximum of 7.80 left for the remaining rider, which is enough for Pickering's 7.76

  33. I dont know how you can say that when you do not know who is in the team and bear in mind the reduction in points so every team is weaker than last season.

  36. Spot on... They have basically tied themselves up in knots by using short term fix after short term fix, rather than having any vision, strategy and ambition for the sport.. That lack of an independent, no vested interest, voice clearly being missed... They needed (still need), saving from themselves, as they lurch from sticking plaster to sticking plaster to cover major (self inflicted), wounds.. So many well meaning, passionate about the sport hobbyists, being in charge of, and self policing, a national professional sport, with so many widely different needs and wants from the team owners, can never work successfully... Hence it hasn't, and we are where we are.. Is it too late now? It is if nothing radical changes, and quickly...

  37. Replacing Lidsey with Kildemand shows that the team is much weaker this season Absolute guaranteed entertainment but nothing to address the fact the team can’t ride away from home and ultimately that will be their downfall

  39. They'll never learn... cannot understand for the life of me why anyone would sign Craig at this point. An absolute liability, completely unpredictable and has let down clubs year on year. Good luck Workington, I suspect at somepoint this season you'll need it once Craig disappears...
