  1. Not sure the size of track makes for good racing,, it's the room on entry and exits of the corners that make for good or bad racing.

  2. Good luck to all at Swindon. Planning meeting just started (6pm) but Blunsdon is item 8 on the agenda, so a while to wait

  3. You’re posting pics of the track before any work has taken place and declaring it a death trap! They know what needs to be done to make it a speedway racetrack and like every other track in the country it will be subject to a full independent inspection before it’s granted a license from the SCB. It amazes me, most people said this had no chance of happening, even suggested the 6th team was made up for the BSPL press release. And yet when it is announced, rather than be happy that we have a new team in the league and we have a premiership of 6 teams, everybody can’t wait to mock it or tear it to shreds before it’s even opened. And you wonder why there isn’t a lot of people willing to run/keep a speedway track going for us?

  4. Back to Northampton, announce they running and then silence again, what a strange way to conduct a business

  5. The application to build on the stadium has been rejected. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1A5dPxTP8J Not out of the woods yet, but this is a good start.

  6. Whoever is control of media/marketing clearly isn't on it. The season starts next month and we don't know who the owners are, the riders they've signed, team nickname or team colours. They are going to need to get every man and his dog they can get through the turnstiles to give this venture a chance. They need to look outside the current speedway bubble for interest. Supporters of other teams will visit the track initially for the novelty, but a core fan base is essential for it to be sustainable.

  7. Surely, anyone willing to run a speedway venue is not going to be so thin-skinned or woke as to be deterred by comments which are mainly observational, questioning, or humorous?

  8. This is literally the same as posting a picture of a field before the new Workington track was laid and saying "it's a bit bumpy at the new Worky track" 🤣

  10. Was at the meeting tonight with plenty of people speaking up to reject the plans...sadly Steve Park spoke and told a pack of lies .And no time did they say in public were up for sale and give the chance for anyone to run speedway at the abbey

  12. Perhaps they won't get the choice It's the British Final and should get full priority

  13. Silence would be the preferred option in that case 😂

  14. Why? Have you been to the NORA meetings, not much if any difference in standard to the national league

  15. Deanno, what do we consider to be to close to houses ? surely BV is close to houses but it is something the council wanted so it was allowed, surely if something improves the area as a whole then it can be put forward for outline planning permission ?, discounting farmers fields i am aware of pretty much 99.9% of sites around Cradley Heath obviously their is no ideal site otherwise it would have been found by now, ideally a track share with Wolves would be ideal and if a site was big enough a track within a track could be the way to track share (the inside track for Wolves), The Lion Farm site just off Junction 2 of the M5 would have been ideal for a project such as that, but again the local council prefer to let the site become more and more run down before it eventually becomes uneconomic to repair and will be sold off to developers, in the meantime they refuse to lease the site and receive an annual rental income which could have been be reinvested.

  16. Well said MM. Seems a lot of people come on here just trying to pick holes in everything. Probably goes against the grain for them when there is some good news for once. Get a glass half full is what I say and yes, although I'm an optimist, I'm also a realist.

  17. How is that any different to the fence at Kings Lynn ? At least there is a grass banking to land on should a rider be unfortunate enough to clear the fence, unlike the concrete that Doyle landed on at Lynn a couple of years ago.

  18. They must have been cheap as they certainly went unnoticed themselves... Not a good look for a marketing company... The sponsors are key and the clubs should engage them to use the money for local marketing and not just to fund "Superstars One and Two"... One Superstar should be the plan for every team with that rider being the focal point of the marketing.... Clubs spend a truly huge amount on riders for a sport with so few followers, so maybe a redirection of sone of this money could help it grow?

  24. Well, when??!! 🤷‍♀️ Promoters wonder why shortage of away fans at tracks 👀 There is no reason why they couldnt have decided when the BF was going to be before Championship fixtures came out especially if they are going to steal one of their race nights. It doesnt affect the Prem calendar. They definitely need to do an online course on how to be organised.

  28. I'm impressed with what I have seen so far 400 mtr track should produce some good racing ,as has been said it will have to comply to get a license . Most of the work seems fairy straight forward they have the infra instructor it is more adaption to co-exist with the stoxs that needs to be done ,there will be a cost but assume that has been factored into the project .

  30. i for one am looking forward to it coming off. Haven't been to a meeting since the demise of Elfield Park @ MK however, having watch some on Sky & youtube. All the messing around at the start is off putting. My one concern is, 6 teams in the league!!! Really should look back to 64/65. Think there should be an amalgamation. link for Defunct tracks. http://www.defunctspeedway.co.uk/Brafield.htm

  32. All that is easily fixed. The cost of doing it is a bigger issue. There's a long time from now until the tapes go up. try to look at things with a more can do attitude not for reasons not to do it.

  33. The tractor tyres are not the problem as they are easily moved. The issue is the grass you can see behind them as that is raised several feet above track level with a plate fence on the track side, and there is no inner kerb so the shale is right up to the plating.

  34. Take a breath, Arthur. I don’t know the bloke. But then again, I suppose from the lofty heights of your moral pedestal, we can't all be as flawless and beyond reproach as you, clearly. Stay perfect.

  37. Saved the second tier too... Those five or six riders which Northampton will use, who DU, will now get the other part of their two part salary covered.. The only reason for two tiers of racing existing is so the majority of riders can DU, and clubs can therefore share the costs of this majority of riders... There simply isn't any other reason for two tiers of Speedway in the UK.... There is no promotion or relegation due to no aspirational, organic growth being possible due to crowd numbers at the majority of UK tracks, and there are no higher rewards for winning either league.. Northampton have been "parachuted" in to the top tier, just to ensure the operating model and business plan keeps going.. No one knows if crowds will be on average (like they are at most tracks (with the odd outlier), "tier one level" (1200/1400), or "tier two level", (600/800) however, it is just vital they go into tier one as some riders would have missed out on a DU place.... It surely must be one league of fifteen teams next year? Five rider teams if needed... That would actually then look like a "Championship" worth winning and give a good geographical spread across the nation to promote the sport as a "National" one... And look more secure, and relevant, from the view of any potential track developers, with safety in numbers, and collective resistance, being possible...
