  1. The lads 16 and just took his first ever win in the championship against Lewis Kerr, I think he’s more than entitled to celebrate!

  2. Bad idea. I remember seeing Sam Ermolenko getting sucked off in Prague.

  3. Which is why you keep a highly knowledgeable track curator who knows how to deal with theses issues with off-season work and during season maintenance, something which has been sorely missing since Jonanthan Swales left Redcar IMHO.

  5. They had rain mid afternoon and then watered the track twice as the strong wind was drying it out so quickly and then at 6.20ish it poured down for a good ten minutes. Track was wet but one team adapted and one didn't! Klima did an unintentional 180 on the parade lap on bend four and ended up looked directly back at Scott Nicholls I think who was behind him! He obviously learnt quickly what he needed to do to get round though as he was superb last night. In heat one Masters got himself in a pickle on bend two but Danny and Joe seemingly had no issues in either running of the heat. Killeen was a little over excited chasing the Gladiators down into the start of the last lap and came off. I'm no mechanical expert but with 40+ years of watching speedway it looked like they had their setups wrong for the conditions although both teams did their track walks before it rained. Only Anders Rowe didn't fall off or get excluded in any of his rides for a Cheetah's side that I was expecting more from. Tom Spencer was the only Plymouth rider to struggle and he openly admitted that was down to inexperience when interviewed at the end of the meeting after he came out for some extra practice afterwards. Barker rode sensibly for a pretty simple four ride max, avoiding the slippery parts of the track when required to do so in heat 3 but still winning comfortably. That was the biggest win I have seen from a Plymouth team since converting from being a Rebel post covid and it reminded me a little of watching Exeter at the County Ground at times with a home side dominant and an away side not really that interested! Well done to Mark Phillips, Garry May and the rest of the backroom team down at Plymouth for the continued improvement on and off the track for the club. Will be back for more in a couple of weeks time when Glasgow come to Devon, that regular 160 mile round trip to the Coliseum doesn't seem very far nowadays!

  6. Nicholls @ No.4 is baffling to me, Should be @ No.2 and then he can face Paco twice.

  8. Dropped in on my way back home from a week in Hayle. More incredible progress since last there, new Bar, new Small Stands. Massive Crowd compared to early last season when I last visited. Nothing wrong with Track, was windy so they had watered it, came ideal by heat 5 or so. Home riders attacked it, Slick Sam Masters did what he used to do at Monmore when it was wet, - went missing started moaning - rest of Oxford team followed him Some good racing later on, with Barker a proper 3rd heat leader at home and Joe T in there and Klima excellent last night, if they could find an adequate replacement for Tobias, they won't be far off the Play Offs. Someone mentioned Bowtell but I'd imagine they would want some one better Away where points will be key. Another amazing leap forward from the SW outpost. My next speedway sojourn will no doubt be to Northampton.

  9. It really is time that Harkess realises that he should step aside for a younger more savvy individual (Scott Wilson perhaps?) to team manage home meetings. He has previous history of such blunders and last night's howler probably cost us a home win. He also rarely takes the opportunity when he wins the toss, to take the option of choosing gate positions in heat 15 against Glasgow, which is an advantage, he seems blissfully unaware of. Time to gracefully step out of the limelight Alex😐

  10. Congratulations to Mark and the whole team at Plymouth who obtained a notable achievement on Saturday by having a record attendance for over 10 years in the defeat against the Pirates. Fantastic for a sport that needs positive news stories to see a club going in the right direction and the swell of momentum behind the club within Plymouth. It's fantastic to see and long may it continue.

  11. How he performs these inside passing moves and still manages to keep the speed up turning tight is what stands him out from the rest.

  16. It's a tricky one but I do get why the BSPL lost patience and pulled the plug on them. Back when the MDL started in 2011/12 we accepted a few "nomadic teams" into the fold. It was good to begin with as it obviously provided a platform for younger riders to get more track time and it also provided a platform the those who were genuinely wanted to bring the sport back to places like Long Eaton for example. Some of the "ghost teams" were run by enthusiasts who above all wanted to put youth development first. Unfortunately other "ghost teams" were run by individuals who only cared about trophy's and winning at all costs to put it politely. These said individuals were not the most savoury of people either. The abuse we received from them was shocking. They were using older former NL riders to win meeting which although was within the rules if they didn't have a NL team place was completely against the ethos of the league. They were essentially playing fantasy speedway without having to pay the promotional costs and fees. This of course ruined it for the others. I think when Cradley packed in it gave the BSPL the perfect excuse to put a ban on nomad teams.

  24. Hope Vinnie gets sorted soon, was a nasty fall, heard his knee had swollen massively. Will be no doubt waiting for the swelling to go down before getting a scan. If Vinnie is sidelined for months there won’t be many options at all with 5.95 available for 2 reserves. Best option would have to be a redeclare with Ben Trigger (3.26) and Max Perry (2.29) to make us at least have champ experience at reserve.

  28. It’s not the riding order needs switching. Castagna is out of his depth and Lynn can only afford to have one inexperienced reserve at this level of racing

  30. Was it Lukas Dryml that had a bad accident when the fence bellowed out and caught him in a GP?

  31. The air fence problem has never been a problem with the fence itself, it’s what is behind the air fence

  32. And maybe not if you look at the very public bickering on Social Media right now which makes the sport look juvenile. This is an example of why the BSPA/BSPL have rules and penalties not withstanding their opposition to Nomad teams run by well meaning amateurs.

  33. Sounds like a great night to be a Gladiators fan, strong result and good luck with finding a sound replacement for Tobias.

  34. It wasn't. Good track curators are rare these days but Plymouth is generally the worst prepared track with numerous avoidable postponements in the last few years. Hopefully you burnt some straw to sort the surface out tonight.

  35. Shame it took the tractors around 30mins to try and rectify the issues with the track. There were very few issues a couple of seasons ago with Redcar 🫤 I wonder why? After the grading the entrance to bend one continued to clearly show there were issues/uncertainty as the riders appeared not to be comfortable compared to previous visits.
    1 point
  36. That's not what the riders said. After the grading riders from both teams said the track was good.

  40. From what I have been told that is NOT going to happen. He is very happy in his new role and no longer wishes to spend days on end doing track prep and he’s not the only one who’s had enough of the cantankerous owners and walked away from the club. A shame as he has always been highly regarded on his work and it’s such a shame that what was one of the very best race tracks is being reduced to its current state. A good track man is about as rare as a British Premiership Football Manager!

  41. I think for the sake of the fans it would be great if the owners and the ex track curator could kiss and make up,the track used to produce very entertaining racing

  44. https://www.mayfield-ms.com/about She is indeed. Seems Chris Louis has walked away from the sport completely then which is sad. Olly Allen is a decent co commentator don’t get me wrong, but Louis was better IMO and seemed to be the regular along with Tatum.
