What a meeting , credit to all riders, some fantastic racing. Ht 15 was worth the admission money alone. Redcar reserves must be the best in the league both Jody and Ace rode fantastic . Allen good value, Klindt so fast, brilliant to watch. Jeppersened never knows when he's beaten. Howarth great guest.eee Comets were always going to find it tough with missing riders and so it proved. However i would take a loss every week to watch racing of that quality. If you want to watch quality speedway please pay a visit to Workington.6 points

Honestly the crap we all put up with in our efforts to watch the sport, it's ridiculous. Tatum waffling on as usual, no substance, just opens his mouth and spouts drivel. Love speedway, hate the coverage.5 points

Unfortunately Saturday is a 'Polish' day and as has been said it's rearranged anyway. But there is a wider issue here about fuxture planning in the Championship and whether riders with contracts in Poland etc should even been riding in our second division. We had far, far too many absences last season through riders being elsewhere and add that to all the inevitable injuries and this season could be yet another guestfest year (eurghh) 👎5 points

Comets beaten by the best reserves in the league, but WOW heat 15 was another level, most of the races were good, like to see my team win, but if racing like this I served every week will enjoy my speedway 😃4 points

This meeting would have been abandoned in the UK with the amount of water on the track in heat 5! 😂4 points

It's all very well and good having a professional national team, which has absolutely knocked anything that came before out of the park, but... to what end? How does it benefit British Speedway? It very nearly wasn't even on TV last night and even then behind a £30+ per month pay wall. We don't even get to see the national team in on track action in this country and the only connection it has with fans is through social media.4 points

Joined the crowd for my second meeting at Brafield last night. 60 years ago (Brafield v Cradley 'B') I was with my new bride, this time we were 3 generations ! Speedway Champions4 points

Well done the Bears best team won today, you caught us vulnerable and ruthlessly exposed our frailties. It is notable just how much Jody Scott has progressed since his 4 from 4 for the Bears last season after replacing Tom Spencer in the Bears septet. He has an able ally at reserve in Ace Pijper and it was the 17 points from these two that won the meeting for the Bears. Somewhat surprisingly Jake Allen decided to turn in his best meeting at Northside, same rider only scored 3 points over two meetings for the Scorpions last season, must be the magic Bears race jacket that does it. Nicolai seems to save his absolute best for Northside, his race with Jonas in heat 15 was a bit special. Jonas has impressed with how he treats his racing and just what a fierce competitor he is, an absolutely joy to watch. Real shame we haven't managed to qualify for the semi finals after the hard fought victory at Scunny last night. Special mention to Steve Lawson, great track prep, with a moisture content that facilitated a high standard of racing throughout without any noticeable dust. 👍3 points

I know she has her knockers but the new presenter, Emma, is doing ok imo, seems quite at home in the role so far, she'll soon learn some inane questions to ask the riders.3 points

So, Lawson's quote in the star. " I must have pissed someone off. didn't even get a phone call," Is what lies? 15 point max on Wednesday, 10+3 at Northampton the following night, but in Allan's words. "I would rather pick someone with enthusiasm." Last time I looked, Enthusiasm over talent doesn't win you trophies. Yes, Lawson is not into riding British finals and open meetings, etc., but he obviously would like to have been picked to ride for Team GB. Being a good rider, it seems is only part of the equation if you want to be part of Team GB Limited. You say, and I quote, "(insert your own chosen name here) whose first question is “how much will I get paid? I could turn that on its head and say the first question Team GB ltd ask is, "How much are you willing to pay to become part of the team?" It's already been mooted that Cairns dad paid through sponsorship for his boy to be picked. Hagon's dad sponsored them the other year. Next thing you know, he became part of the Team GB setup!! Sad state of Affairs when Speedway starts going down the same road as F1, where you have to pay to get your place on the team.3 points

The trouble is there doesn't seem to be anybody showing any interest in resolving the situation, when clubs are agreeing to stage rearranged fixtures on dates that they know their number 1 will be missing... it's makes it even more difficult to take the competition seriously. And while clubs keep getting facilities to cover this situation it will only continue and probably get worse, it's a very sad state of affairs.3 points

First of all, and I’m not sure if anyone has said this yet, congratulations to the GB team for making another big final. The success of those running the team is a fair reward for all the effort they have put in, turning a cheap pizzas and beers operation into a professional looking and performing team. Some might try to detract from the result due to the nature of the opposition but you can only beat what’s in front of you. Secondly, I hope people picked up the not too obscure comment made by Ollie Allen of picking the best team available to him. Much has been made of Dan T missing but Dan chose to ride for Edinburgh rather than his country. I find that disappointing especially as I gather - though hopefully I’ve been misinformed - that Dan is missing Berwick tonight because he’s headed off to Poland. Thirdly, we do need a strong fourth rider if we’re not going to finish fourth out of four in the final. But it has to be someone who will fit into the ethos of the GB team and not just be someone who, having previously turned down chances to ride for the team (and there are a few of them) now fancies a bit of the glory that has been brought about by the hard work of others. That has to make selection difficult and controversial. Do you want someone like Adam Ellis who’ll ride whenever and wherever he’s asked or (insert your own chosen name here) who’s first question is “how much will I get paid? Fourth, Will Cairns selection. He was willing and able to be there, and maybe his dad helped with the team finances, maybe not. But who else would you have? It was a shame that, unlike the other teams, he didn’t get a ride but (a) unlike other teams, GB wasn’t built to use the reserve tactically (b) the other four did the job and (c) to put him out cold in the nominated heats on a gaters’ track would only have got his bikes and himself mucky. Will’s day will come, it just wasn’t yesterday. Finally, and this repeats my first point, congratulations to the team, not just the riders but Ollie, Vicky, Rob, Chris Neville, Steve Williams and all the sponsors big and small. No more “plucky Brits bringing up the rear” but World Cup Finalists. Again.3 points

No supporters video available from the 3rd bend crowd tonight🤔3 points

Feel a bit for Bewley having to settle for 2nd on the night especially after that heat 19. But we'd have all taken the two Brits getting to the final & Zmarzlik not looking invincible before the meeting. A Kurtz sophomore slump could be due. The post heat 12 tractoring was hard to endure inside the stadium but the racing afterwards made up for it. Who knew a Coventry Bee could win a GP still.2 points

Really enjoyable meeting. Yeah, it's nice to see your team win. But it's even better to see good racing. Don't think it was a case of Comets reserves being particularly weak, more a combination of a really strong Bears reserve pairing, alongside a missing Jakobsen. That meant a struggling Comets pair had to take 10 rides between them (would've been 11 without a tac ride). I mean, Redcars reserves got a 5-1 over Howarth! Finding a decent 5pt guest for Jakobsen is always gonna be tough, and rr needs 1 of your reserves to be scoring points. And against Redcar that's a big ask. At least Jody Scott won't be at reserve all season, although whoever replaces him will still leave them with a strong reserve pairing. Comets top 4 all rode well. Klindt outstanding once again round Northside, the fact Jeppeson gave him a race in ht 15 speaks volumes about how well he's riding.2 points

Like I said before if there going to Poland why are you signing them when you know there going to miss meetings. It’s not rocket science is it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!2 points

Some really good racing once they let the track dry out and stopped flooding it! Well done Woryna, fantastic debut.2 points

Bewley has had three fantastic races. Means diddly squat under this pathetic scoring system. Someone could make the final on a lot less than what Dan has already. Still, it's important for the sport to show itself for what it is 🤣🤣2 points

It's cost cutting isn't it... but 2 meetings and 2 practice/quali sessions on one track in 2 days is too much imo.2 points

why do they run a meeting the day before this is meant to be the top meeting not a second to the world cup is beyond me2 points

I’m not sure encouraging fans to boycott an away meeting will make the slightest difference to either Dan or the powers at Edinburgh. Neither will even notice. Not attending a home match is more likely to be noticed. I do hope the away fans come down and have a good evening.2 points

This post is sponsored by the c in Mitchell Cluff's christian name. As I left my office in the capital's city centre, I wondered whether I would see speedway last night. Thankfully the sunny Armadale microclimate came into its own, the clouds cleared and it was all systems go. For any away side to victory on the road, they need their top man to be cool, calm and collected in heat one. While we can’t really comment on the first two, Bandits followers certainly thought Bohemian Rhapsody was collected in a calamitous collision. However, they reckoned without Breckon. Michael Breckon that is. The man who was in charge of the 2014 play off final and used the rulebook beautifully to win the league title for the Monarchs. I’m not going to complain about such a wonderful, classy, cheery chap, although it’s fair to say his call caused much chagrin beyond the cow shed. “Coward” they cried, as their team faced the remainder of proceedings minus their leader. That incident apart, there wasn’t much to get excited about. Monarchs built up an early lead and contained their counterparts comfortably. The lack of passing throughout could be construed as a concern though. Hats off to the Thom(p)son non-twins who bagged maximums in both 13 and 15 (it’s been a while!), as well as personally, and took the Monarchs’ lead up to 18 on the night. Can they claim the bonus point? It could be close. Roll on Friday... PS almost completely forgot my concluding chapter: I was at a First Aid course earlier this week. We were doing some drills in pairs. My ‘partner’ was on the floor. I approached and asked, “are you ok?” “Yes”, he replied “Are you a cyclist?” “Yes”, he replied “Oh well. I’m off. See you later” That didn’t go down very well in the room. Tough crowd these days.2 points

Not at all, welcomed back with open arms at Leicester, he'll not be missing any of our matches to go and sit in the pits in Poland 😂 This kind of situation sums up why the sport in this country has become the tin pot third rate product it currently is.2 points

I think if Dan Thompson wants to build his speedway career by traveling to Poland to not ride he should drop Britain... Or ... he could give Poland a miss until he's good enough to ride over there. If and when he's good enough Polish Clubs will be knocking his door down to sign him and he'll be able to name his own price.2 points

Well that was a tough watch, here's hoping they sort the sync out for this evening.2 points

Early days to tell but will she have the respect and be acceptance of the riders ? I was no big fan of Abbie but it was clear she was accepted like a little sister to the riders and had a good rapport with them,no doubt Emma is good looking and has some real stand out assets but watching her last night her rapport with the riders seemed a little fake, like I said early days to tell and obviously she is trying to forge a rapport in a sport she knows very little about, so time will tell but in the meantime she is a welcome bit of eye candy2 points

I can zone Tatum out when I need to, what's not acceptable is televising a timed qualification event and not show the viewers the on screen times... like you say... the rubbishe we have to put up with!2 points

id imagine he couldnt give a rats arse aslong as hes racking up points money and got a nice van with the job2 points

Sadly Iain there seems to have been a lack of interest in solving any of the problems for the last 20 years. UK speedway just doesn't do plan b or c its more lets just wait a couple of months before the start of the season and carry on as is with a few more band aids and try and kick that can a bit further.2 points

When will the GB management learn? Watching heats with Leon or Will running a last against Bartoz, Brady & Lindgren just won’t do it for the fans back home. Far better to see Lawson, Harris, Thompson or King running a last instead. Until these people in charge cater to the fans needs then there’s no way we will add to all the FIM gold medals picked up recently. At least if Lawson was in the team then GB could make a bob or two as he could re plaster the changing room wall that Nikki Pedersen had punched multiple holes into.2 points

Aye, speedway and guests. I have a thought, go and enjoy the racing, which I do.2 points

Only in speedway could a Bears rider help the Comet's win away so that his own Bears now have to beat the comets at their place to go through.2 points

Great win at workington tonight our reserves were the difference. I think workington might be a bit more harder to beat when they have all there team fit again.1 point

Correct decision, I think it’s still likely that Gilkes will come in to replace Newman. But maybe there will be a surprise and it will be Bowes who departs1 point
