Hi all, I hope this is okay to post as a comment in here. I know many of you may have known my father as Jenga / j20hh. He sadly passed away recently after battling with various illnesses the last couple of months, but I know he was fairly active on here, and I thought it would be fitting to log into this account to announce it. I'm aware he was a bit of a marmite character on these forums, but he was on here exactly how he was in real life, a windup merchant with bad grammar. It's been fascinating to look back through his posts and comments, and more so the replies from other people. I can only apologise if he aggravated any of you with his comments, but know that they've brought a grieving son a great deal of joy, to have an online archive of my Dad just trying his best to wind people up over a sport he loved. Speedway and Workington Comets were a huge part of my Dad's life, and a huge part of my childhood, I'm sure I'll have to get down to Northside to honour his memory soon. If any of you happened to know him in real life, I'd be more than happy to pass on funeral details over a PM. Thanks10 points

I don't think Scunthorpe could ever be accused of a lack of loyalty towards Sumon Lambert, too much if anything. FWIW I don't think Poole have done anything wrong here, you can't drop a rider scoring as well as Newman has been.6 points

Funny how it’s only Poole that show zero loyalty…..No mention of Scunthorpes zero loyalty to Simon Lambert…but of course he didn’t ride for Poole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!6 points

My instant thought was "is Christina Turnbull the ref" and it's becoming pathetic how that's a common question in my head now.4 points

Foxes looking very weak,, taking that into consideration and who they are up against,, I think the Foxes will scrape home with a 70 - 20 win4 points

Etheridge was a gamble, but one worth taking with such a low average, especially if he could rediscover his form of a few seasons ago. The problem at the moment is that all of the top 5 seem to be struggling to gate consistently so they are having to try and come from behind all the time. Killeen has scored 10+5 from 5 meetings. What more is an RS expected to do ? I think he is worth persevering with as he is always pressuring and looking for a way through. Once he gets settled into the track at Owlerton I think he could surprise a few.4 points

Seems as though the speedway referees are as useless as the football ones this season. Seems to be bad decisions at every meeting lately.3 points

They should stick to the advertised start, if people miss the start then maybe they will turn up earlier next time, if not then the late starts will continue.3 points

Was an interesting match. KT has started the season very well. Rushen’s move was horrible, do that to the wrong person and he will get hurt either on or off track. Lidsey looked like he wanted to be anywhere but there. Batch and Klindt are passengers that wake up every now and again. Half decent performance from any of the aforementioned 3 and Foxes win.2 points

@IainB arrived at 7.15 and there were no queues. So we are talking about late arrivals, not staff training. The sport is enough of a joke already in this country without this sort of stuff. It's not just Northampton either, tapes up at 7.30 should mean exactly that unless there are genuine problems due to an RTA or simialr.2 points

Agreed fair play to the fella he's really stepped it up this year just a shame he's ploughing a lone furrow with this lot.2 points

I think it is in the regs now that they have to if TV evidence is available... Seemingly they can even use WhatsApp video from the fans of the team whose rider gets excluded so they can change their minds and exclude the other teams' rider....2 points

I seen it and hoped it was his helmet that had just come loose because if not, then it could have easily been the worse. Awful from Rushen, I really rate the kid and think he’s going to go far in the sport but that was down right dangerous. If that was in Poland, probably would have been thrown out the meeting for dangerous riding. He makes the mistake in 3&4 and tries to over compensate but it’s the look before he does it. Referee has had an absolute shocker. Hope Luke will be okay, sounds like concussion, and speedy recovery to Jody aswell, the innocent party in it all.2 points

Also just checked 2010 Darcy’s first season at Poole 9 from 5 In 2011 Darcy 11 +1 from 4 a paid max Then 12 +2 from 5 It appears Shovlar is a liar and a bad one at that If you can find any meeting where Darcy got 4 at lakeside then find it ……it one million percent was not when he was racing for Poole Shovlar what a clown2 points

Sometimes weather dictates as does the opposition, it was a very one sided contest as born out by the score.Klindt was terrific no one else turned up. Allen was his normal self at Wimborne Road, the rest were awful. Lawson did not gate in one race but had little trouble passing both bears before the 3rd bend. Ace was his usual self moaning about his fall, never his fault.2 points

Saddened to hear about the passing of your Dad. I didn't know him personally and often wondered he was because of his many posts. I certainly wondered what had happened to "Jenga' when his posts disappeared but soon came to realise he had reinvented himself as j20hh , the writing style was unmistakeable 😃. Sorry to see another Comets fan has gone to the speedway track in the sky and no doubt he will be keeping his eye on the forum !. You really must pay a visit he probably would have wanted you too. RIP 'Jenga'.2 points

Their track is now "shocking" when once it suited "proper Speedway riders, not throttle jockeys".... Good to see Will Cairns' score last night, there does seem to be a bit of a "pile on" for the kid, now and again, from some, for some reason... As with all the young UK lads, just let them develop and see where they end up... The sport is desperate for more supply than demand so if these lads only reach tier two second string status they are playing their part....2 points

If Lynn don’t win this then the season might as well be over now (I know it’s a dead rubber KO cup match but the signs wouldn’t look very good). 42-48. Northampton Foxes 1. Lidsey - 10 (6) 2. Batchelor - 5 (4) 3. Z Cook - 9 (5) 4. Kerr - 4 (4) 5. Klindt - 8 (4) 6. Thomson - 5 (5) 7. Harrison - 1 (3) Total - 42 King’s Lynn Stars 1. Fricke - 12 (5) 2. Castagna - 3 (4) 3. Harris - 10 (5) 4. B Cook - 9 (4) 5. Kvech - 7 (4) 6. Rushen - 4 (4) 7. Scott - 3 (4) Total - 482 points

Left field shout but I was quite impressed by Ukrainian Stanislav Melnichuk who rode in the WC the other week might be worth a go. Glasgow keep signing these ringers year after year, More clubs should try it, he certainly couldn't be any worse then Palm Toft. Vuolas, Kemp or Stevie Wonder he'd be just as useful2 points

As I said earlier Brum 2025 are Cradley 1985 in comparison, its real shame as it looks like core crowds might have settled on a thousand with a team that could win at home. To be fair not much the fellas running it could do, started late so left with the scraps and nobody half decent wants to ride over here. So there's really no one they can bring in who will make a material difference to the outcome. Sole bright spot is the form of Thomson great to see him stepping it up if he can avoid injury should have a great year ahead for him.1 point

That's the issue with starting so late they were left with the scraps , Thompson doing fantastic, Harrison can't expect much due to age, Neils will still give it a go but a decade past his best, leaves you with Batch, Klindt, Zagar and Lidsey all of who if they don't fancy it won't turn up you could maybe get away with having 1 or 2 riders like that in the side but you will really struggle with all four.1 point

I'm pretty sure they announced over the PA that the ref was looking at a video replay.1 point

I agree if was an established track... However, as only the second meeting the staff will still be finding their feet, in the Speedway Star they said those on the entrance gate were still getting trained up to an hour before letting people in last week... And as some punters tonight will no doubt be new you want to try and not pee them off by missing out on the racing... Maybe a 7.45 start time would be better for this season?1 point

Just seen the crash on social media as I'm not watching it live but that's an absolutely appalling move from Rushen. He was absolutely aware of Harrisons presence and made an obvious and intentional move to ride right down the middle of the track to block the move - WAY off the racing line. I know he's a young lad and obviously a massive talent but that kind of frankly dangerous riding deserves some kind of actual and considerable punishment. He can't continue knowing he can get away with something like that. At one point Harrisons head is almost 180 degrees in the opposite direction, he's lucky he's not dead.1 point

Doesn't help when you don't start until 7:50... a dose of British Speedway reality being served up tonight.1 point

Wow I hope someone can put you right and back me up you clown 2012 Darcy scores 12, 13 and 14 in 3 matches at Lakeside 2013 Darcy scores 17 2014 he didn’t ride there I can’t find if he guested 2015 for Swindon he scored 17 Not a genius at lakeside is a stupid predictable comment from you and a lack of knowledge I honestly did not look at 2011 he may have scored 4 then I don’t know I saw Ward twice at lakeside and he was a genius there1 point

Was a strange comment about the tears. Never saw any, he was angry with himself which I think might be his biggest downfall.1 point
-
Yes I picked up on that, and it might also be the case that they needed the extra points from Gilkes having a lower average than Lambert to make the next change so best not to judge until the next one is announced1 point

Most teams will lose most of their away meetings. Northampton are unfortunate, because of circumstances, to have four of their first five meetings away, and doubly unfortunately that two riders are already injured. It's also a bit of a head scratcher that the captain didn't check the size of his home track before signing! Stick with them. Season 1 will be a challenge, but beyond that will be the real test of team strength.1 point
