  2. I’m afraid I would not entertain them in Uk in that case. They are helping to send the sport into obscurity with their attitude. Speedway is hardly a no risk sport.Wait till this situation arises at Northampton and see how the newcomers to the sport react.

  4. Update on former Berwick rider Connor Coles posted on social media today. Lovely news from Kirsty Coles about Connor A little update on Connor Connor has now been transferred from Stoke to Derby and has officially started neurological rehabilitation in a specialist centre. Although there is still a long recovery journey ahead, this week has brought some really positive steps forward. Connor is becoming much more aware and engaged, communicating more, remembering conversations and slowly getting more like himself each day. He is now eating food orally again with thickened drinks, has started rehab exercises including the exercise bike, and is walking short distances with support and a frame. Seeing these small milestones after everything he has been through has meant so much to us all. There are still many challenges ahead with speech, swallowing, fatigue and weakness down his left side, and recovery will take time, but we finally feel like Connor is taking important steps in the right direction. Thank you again to everyone for all the continued love, support, messages and kindness shown to Connor and our family

  5. The most positive news so far has come out today. Very good news arrived from the Poznań hospital on Friday morning. The process of waking Patryk Budniak from a medically induced coma has been completed. The Ultrapur Start Gniezno athlete is responsive to contact and responds with simple phrases. He faces further tests. 09:29 After a gruesome accident in Gniezno, Patryk Budniak underwent two very serious surgeries. The first involved his spine, and the second involved his lower limbs. On Thursday, the process of recovering from a medically induced coma began. On Friday morning, we received excellent news from the hospital. As we've determined, the recovery process is complete. The speedway rider responds with simple words. 09:30 The patient has been awoken from a medically induced coma. He is communicating with others. He responds with simple phrases. Remember, he was intubated, so he's communicating as best he can. He's still undergoing diagnostic testing, Zuzanna Pankros, spokesperson for the Poznań hospital, told us. "Regarding sensation, it has returned, but it's too early to say whether the patient will regain full mobility. A number of tests are necessary to determine this. The most important thing is that the recovery process has been completed and the patient is breathing on his own. His condition is not life-threatening. He's a young, strong boy. You can see he has the will to fight," adds our interviewee. 09:31

  6. most of the more senior riders dont want to risk getting injured. they should have at least sent a couple of riders out to do a few laps to test the track. it was a bad look

  7. I think there is definitely a market for streaming at the right price... One of Speedways weaknesses also can be it's strength... Due to the team model it uses, you don't have the same tribalism that other team sports can engender, however the sport does have a large proportion of followers that generically follow the sport, and very closely.. Meaning any meeting, regardless of the two teams involved, will attract their attention.. I watch Swedish and Polish meetings on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, but won't lay out £14 or so for a UK stream.. Make it £7-£10 and I probably would, at least once a week... In the Speedway Star, Gerry Facenna mentions how surprised he was by how many fans from overseas have purchased their streams.. It could be a big market if the price point is set well, and clubs don't just think that the fans of both teams are their target market, (or might not attend and buy the stream instead).. Glasgow say they only streamed due to crowd increases in the stadium, and, once again, are using their own fans to help drive bigger crowds with free tickets.. That's the key... If a promoter thinks "I won't stream as my fans will stay at home and watch", then they either are not promoting well enough, not providing enough entertainment, or the competitions they run are not engaging enough people... Do their day job properly, and streaming should be the icing on the cake..

  8. Rushen now in the team, shame it’s took an injury for them to get too the correct line up.

  10. Agreed. The boys will need to be on it tonight and have their gating gloves on. Jeppesen can fly round Ashfield as can Cook on his day and Batchelor can pop out the traps for an occasional win as can Zischke. Perry can sometimes gate well and hold a front position. Much will depend on Hausel and Jacobsen’s performance imo.

  14. It's possible to believe Oxford have a poor lineup without there being better options. If the poster had said "why pick these riders" or "there must have been better guests available" then you'd be right to question the post!

  15. 6 broom sweepers, 5 male and one female. Each with the objective of brushing the standing water to the kerb and ultimately in to the drain. One decided to brush the opposite direction to the others and brush the standing water out all over the track. Guess which one it was?

  16. Latest update, which is positive: We have the first, still cautiously positive, news regarding Patryk Budniak's health. Our athlete is gradually emerging from a medically induced coma and responding to contact with loved ones. The first signs of feeling in his legs have also appeared, which gives hope in his continued fight for health. Patryk remains under the constant care of doctors, and we will provide further updates as they become available. Thank you for the overwhelming support for Patryk and his family.

  17. With all the rider shortages tonight it’s criminal that this stalwart of the sport is not guesting for someone? is his average too high?

  19. Not your fault so nothing to apologise for and you together with Racers & Royals provide all us luddites with an excellent service and if it was not for the hard work of both of you we would not be getting a d3cent regular speedway fix. Cheers.

  21. They should have held an impromptu practice session, any second half riders invited to, would have soon scrubbed the top surface off without having to race flat out under pressure. But as others have said, A blade is a part of the equipment that a club has to prove they have in order to to get a track licence. The main issue as I see it is that you have some riders who are just too afraid to ride on anything less than perfect because they fear if they get hurt here, their Polish club will throw the book at them.

  22. With our lack of consistency in the 2 and 4 positions we will remain vulnerable at home and tonight is no different.

  23. Easy win for the Glasgow Tigers tonight, Workington are a weak team and using Mickie Simpson for Vinnie Foord is going to leave them seriously short at reserve.

  27. It really a joke now. They don’t even want to get the Kevlar dirty now. Why not give a couple of riders a couple of laps to test the track turn the dirt over( if there’s any).Been there too many times now,I certainly don’t leave the house now if there is cloud in the sky.

  28. Wasn’t this fight in Manchester Co-op live though!? Another reason why fans can’t go to speedway in manchester, too much going on in good ol’ Manny! 😉 They even pack out a boxing arena and sing “oh Fabio Wardley”! From us in Ipswich, thanks for your support!

  29. Well yes but guests are not the alternative, there is enough riders, gorzow tonight was the classic example, polestad should of been in 1-7 and 1 of the other 2 make up the 7 and must have at least 3 rides, it’s not hard

  31. Max Perry came in for Etherington, not Foord. Comets won’t have a bad reserve pairing when Vinnie is back. We missed him tonight with Mickie scoring zero. No suitable guests for him unfortunately

  32. Gerry tends to exaggerate & crowds are clearly down due to a number of factors like no weekly Friday home fixtures, no concession at gate ,over £22 a ticket, football & weather not been great

  36. Just to add a little to this. Previous experience of the VK link streamers is that they can only broadcast one meeting at a time. I've contacted one of them, the one formerly known as SpeedwayRus and explained the situation and asked if they can simultaneously broadcast both, or if not, can they swap to Gorzów when it comes on. I've previously sponsored them in the past, and they usually answer me fairly quickly. I'll let you know what they say if they reply.

  37. He turned left off bend 4 ... while chasing another rider. He didn't look round because he wasn't being chased by an opponent ... but, as you say, you can interpret it whichever way you want.

  41. Boughen was supremely talented and fast as a speedway rider but seemed to lose his nerve a bit after a couple of crashes and injury ..after that he looked fast if he gated and got fresh air after the first bend but if the first bend was tight then he shut off a bit ….i don’t know his mindset but that is what it looked like to me ..a shame as he was talented enough to have done really well

  43. A perfect example of where one point each, no rearrangement, would have, at least, seen riders giving it a go, either before the meeting to test the track, or actually just run the meeting... And the home team would have had to have the capability with the correct equipment to at least try and give the meeting every chance... Too easy for clubs to just rearrange and too easy for riders to come back at a later date to earn their money.. With the fans being the common denominator that lose out... Having to pay on the night refunds and season ticket refunds would also "focus" the clubs somewhat too...

  44. Interesting to hear Rorys thoughts on the meeting going ahead,if that had been Berwick his bikes would have been back in the van as soon as he seen the track 😂

  45. Of course he'd say that and in any case it is up to the referee not the riders. A GP would've gone ahead on a surface as wet as that. Walking on it and finding it slippery is completely different to riding a bike on it. One or two races and it'd have been dry.

  48. The entire speedway community is following the latest news regarding Patryk Budniak's health. As we've learned, the Gniezno rider has already undergone another surgery. This time, it involved his lower limbs. Importantly, the surgery went according to plan, and the patient's condition is slowly stabilising. Today (Wednesday) mark three days since the horrific accident in Gniezno. The young rider was airlifted to a hospital in Poznań. There, he underwent complex spinal surgery the very first night. The first, somewhat more optimistic news began to emerge on Tuesday. A series of further tests revealed no further injuries beyond those previously diagnosed, which involved the spine, pelvis, and legs. "The patient's lower limb surgery has been completed. It lasted three hours. Doctors say it went according to plan, with no complications. This is good news. The patient's condition is slowly stabilising, but he is still in the intensive care unit and placed in a medically induced coma. The timing of his awakening will be determined by doctors, who are constantly monitoring his condition," Zuzanna Pankros, spokesperson for the Poznań hospital, told po-bandzie.com.pl

  49. Mathias Pollestad, …is emerging as a young new star in the Polish PGE Ekstraliga. In his debut season in the elite league, the Norwegian has absolutely no respect for his higher-ranked opponents and currently averages nearly two points per heat! (which translates as: “nearly 8.00 CMA”) At Czestochowa , he scored nine points with two bonus points, once again becoming the best U24 player of the round.
