Without aussies over here we wouldn't even have a league. So let's be grateful for them8 points

And she asked Simon Stead if will be doing rider replacement for Like Killeen tonight7 points

He was in a f***ing coma ffs. The info about his injuries was coming from medical professionals, not from him over exaggerating.4 points

And quite rightly so, possibly the worst post ever made on this forum that sinks to new lows almost daily... congratulations 👏4 points

They publish the top earners numbers usually at the end of the season.. Usually a fair few with £600k plus... Which is why it pees off the Poles when their riders get injured riding overseas... Riders will use their signature money at the start of the season, to build not only their Polish kit, but also their GP kit, and their kit for whichever other leagues they race in.. Also. Look at any rehab that needs doing. Invariably it is the Polish team footing the bill, regardless of where the relevant injury happened.... It is big money, big pressure, big jeopardy, big consequences over there... Just how a professional sport should be..3 points

Totally agree with this take. I can't think of an obvious rider to drop (including Lambert) they were all riding close to their averages, but the team was 2 points weaker than all the others. For all the stick MPT gets, what do fans expect putting a 6 point rider at number 5? Mountain maybe the biggest underachiever, plus Harrison away from home, but they've all had good & poor matches, so hope is there they can turn it around? Now Ingram is flying, especially at home, they're kinda back on a par with most teams (built to the limit) Ingrams improvement cancelling out Pickering's average drop. Had they managed to find a heat leader to replace a second string, they'd look a decent bet for a play-offs spot.3 points

Money has always been there in Poland for a while. When I worked with Adam Shields he top scored in an away meeting that Leszno won, they gave him 2 brand new engines for that performance and Thats going back a good few years now.2 points

So not think these GP boys are just taking the p#ss out of GB Speedway watching Holder over the weekend beating all the world stars with ease.He he turn up here and can’t be bothered.R and R must have him under 4for the GPs at Manchester 😂😂😂2 points

Today's fixtures, or this one and return later shows how much the sport has declined in the UK. I seem to remember some of the Bank Holidays had a full league programme in both leagues.2 points

I've heard it all now, the woman asking the questions on BVTV to Zach Cook after his last race... "ate you making any changes to your setup for tonight" 😂 If you've got nothing meaningfully interesting to ask, don't ask anything at all... may as well have asked him what he's having for his dinner! Jack Holder has had a stinker this afternoon and really cost his team big time.2 points

From what I've seen he's mobile but only for very short distances. Be can often been seen in the pits of meetings on his 3 wheel scooter painted in his classic white and yellow livery.2 points

Does anyone know when Charles is going to be fit and can we look to fit both Charles and Klindt in the same team , the bears are currently rock bottom albeit after 2 matches but a few more losses makes it hard to catch the top 4, could Charles get a dispensation with his average ?2 points

Just to confirm, the stock car promoters have now surrendered their lease, and the rugby club are going to widen the pitch. Can't help feeling something dodgy has gone on here, but everyone is keeping quiet. The local paper asked the stocks for comment got no reply.2 points

A Guest replacement for a Guest replacement.... UK Speedway....2 points

Not really a big crash, he just hit the ground hard, caused by his engine blowing mid turn, he didn’t leave in ambulance and was sitting in his pit bay with an ice pack on his shoulder when I turned over to the other match, I’ve got the video of it but I’m not posting it because of the Lilly livered that get on their moral high horse about such things, anyway tai speedy recovery2 points

If you knew your speedway history you would know thumping teams doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in the attendance but does mean a very large increase in your wage bill.2 points

I know i mean the wages put it all in context. Guess thats why Bewley is so adored because he gives it his all every race. Well maybe bar ipswich away last year :).1 point

Another cruel truth of the risks these guys take for our entertainment Gundo and Per Jonson absolute top drawer riders in their day, Leigh Adams even more cruely as he had left the sport when his accident happened, plus Darcy the one rider who could have maybe stopped Bartoz.1 point

Didn't he get a six figure signature fee in Poland? And £2k a point?... Given the "punishment" for getting injured in another league, I would also be very "cautious" when riding over here. .1 point

Just had a very quick glance, and race-winning times don't look any different from other meetings this season - perhaps the surface was more unpredictable? PS: Owlerton isn't fast?!?! 😂1 point

jack had a good pay day yesterday, just keeping safe, was a fast track today..1 point

In that case, need to ask Jack what he had for dinner last night.1 point

Made my first visit to Buxton since re-opening,on Sunday 24 May. I would like to say a big thank you for everyone who put time effort and money in to venture. However I do fear for it. Start time was nearer to 3.30 than the stated time. I appreciate ambulance was late, but rider introductions could have been done without this. Meeting just seemed to take ages. Noticed some leaving as early as heat 8. I had hoped to leave shortly after 5pm, having watched both NL and MDL match. When an interval was announced at 5.20 pm, with only 12 races completed, a few others joined me in leaving. Wonder how many will return. Thankfully didn't have the usual Buxton cold weather. A few simple and easy changes needed.1 point

In the 80's Eastbourne had a Polish rider, Robert Slabon. You could see he had ability but struggled around the tight Arlington raceway and a few away tracks. Went up to the shay and he looked a world beater, won his first two heats but in his third, hit the fence big time and badly broke his arm.1 point

I thought twice about going as these baking hot midday meetings dont tend to produce good racing, decided to go so hope it bucks the trend. Looking at the Aces line up Sheffield should be winning this, we struggle at Owlerton with Dan the evening meeting should be a formality for the Tigers.1 point

Remembered seeing Vaclav Verner for Exeter at Halifax in the late 70’s tight into 3rd bend every lap out to the fence back wheel off the fence and wheeling down the straight for every lap, scored double figures. Some racer.1 point

That was why Gordon Kennett said he preferred solid fences. If it was just a glancing blow, you could stay on your bike, and steer it away.1 point

That’s a very positive post! The sport as a whole needs people you and your son. You say you have been away from the sport but it’s still in great shape (🤭) so onwards and upwards as they say.1 point

The sport is down to its die hards... Winning the majority of meetings at home is the only priority for many promoters... Do that, and crowds will stay pretty much the same... There is zero big reward for winning any league, so why risk the clubs ongoing existence by spending money it hasn't budgeted for?... A title winning team at the majority of clubs won't generate much extra income, so why bother given their outgoings will increase .. Workington, when they won the treble, would have budgeted for around 90 points (like most do) for their home and away meetings, and ended up with a team that often battered the opposition at home, and often scored 40+ away... Their crowd numbers didn't cover that "success"... Only 15 clubs are left, so all need to cut their cloth accordingly as to what they can afford...1 point

There's also the fact most riders are simply riding more and more when I went in the mid 80's early 90's most rode one league in Britain, international and continental meetings, now some riders are in four leagues plus doubling up in UK, loads of under 21 events, European competitions, grand prix of 10-12 rounds against one off finals. The increase in bike speed most likely hasn't helped but the simple maths is the more time your on a bike the more chances sadly of bad crashes.1 point

In the 90's we were trying to get engines to rev over 10,000rpm. There were still crashes then but not as many serious ones that we are experiencing now. Todays engine can achieve 18000RPM but is restricted to 13500RPM. I'd have to ask the question why would an engine tuner build a motor that cannot be used to its full potential. For me the bore size should be limited which would mean a longer stroke to get to 500cc & in turn this would reduce the RPM to a usable level. The short stroke engine has not made the sport any faster as the list of track records will support only a fraction of a second each time it is reset in most cases & less than a second over a 25 year spread. The short stroke motor has made the sport more about who can hold on the longest & who is prepared to take the biggest risk rather than the best control & skill set1 point
