  1. “It’s fair to say we are already working on our team for 2027, and we are excited to see the kind of side we can build with the luxury of months to recruit riders, rather than facing the last minute scramble we did for 2026 as most of the teams were already assembled by the time we came to the table” I really like this fella 😁

  2. This is the type of stuff that ALL clubs need to do far more of. You go on some clubs’ social media and official websites and they’re mostly incredibly poor. Some rarely get updated at all and it comes across as they really can’t be bothered. It’s such an easy and simple thing to do and this is the kind of thing Coleman was talking about in terms of lack of promoting. Keep the X posts flowing, Facebook, Official websites, ram it down people’s throats regularly and keep all the clubs in the forefront of their supporters minds. Its not a hard thing to do.

  3. Next seasons' top tier points limit has just been announced... 24 (including the Rising Star at 2.00).... Voted in 5 to 1.....

  4. The truth is that modern super-tuned finely-balanced machinery has ruined tacks like Ipswich. The rapid pick-up when the throttle is opened, plus the unpredictability on other than perfect surfaces makes them far less suitable on smaller tracks. The behaviour of these machines is resulting in more high-speed crashes (Jack Holder’s is a prime example) - previously that would only happen if the throttle jammed open. The riders are to blame for that incessant need to “improve”, yet all they’ve done is increased costs for everyone.

  5. Success is what brings in crowd levels. Has always been the case. Exeter were a prime example of that in the premier days, regular got well over 1000 a week due to winning at home 99 percent of the time even though they were awful away from home most of the time. And the racing there was absolutely rubbish, gate and go. Having a big council funded stadium with a nice, good race track doesn't guarantee a good crowd as Belle Vue have found out.

  6. Nah Doyle and Woryna collided on the run to first turn, Woryna footrest got hooked in Doyle’s bike so neither could turn and they collected jacks back wheel en route to the fence, zero to do with conditions just one of them unfortunate incidents 👍

  7. Pleased for him as when he was at Ipswich the other year you could see that he gated well and had ability but often just got overtaken, its seems his career was perhaps a slower burn than Dan but he starting to show the decent scores now!

  8. Having something tangibly worth winning is the breakthrough the sport needs above anything else... Other sports show that the bigger the prize, the bigger the interest, and it then becomes a self fulfilling prophecy... A top league with a seven figure prize fund, would give each meeting some relevance and also give the tier two teams something to aspire to be in.. With a big prize up for grabs, winning then means something, with the potential result of the meeting being the engagement, regardless of the racing.. And if you deliver great racing too, then even better.. There must have been over 3,000 Aces fans in attendance at the recent GP's, (like last year), yet crowds for UK Speedway at the NSS are not even half that.. The reason? The lack of engagement that UK Speedway has... Same track, same great racing, even some of the same riders in view... The key differences being the size of the prize on offer, the credibility of the occasion, and the nights the events are ran on.. If any "new blood" coming into the sport could secure some major sponsorship for it, then that truly would be a game changer for UK Speedways future... They would though, firstly, have to do a huge job on the brands image and reputation, and unpick so much of what is currently seen as acceptable... The fans are still out there, in much greater numbers than currently physically attend.. UK Speedway just needs to find a way to engage them again... Something worth winning would be a huge start...

  9. Nonsense, if that were true Redcar and belle Vue would be packed every meeting but they are in exactly the same boat as everyone else. The racing makes no difference to crowd levels.

  10. Were you planning on watching it through a gap in the fence if it was on Davie? Seeing as your barred from getting in..

  11. They did, unfortunately one of the riders decided he'd rather watch a meeting in Poland than ride for his UK club 🤷‍♂️ The rider always has a choice... to sign a contract or not, if he'd rather watch a meeting in Poland than ride for the Lions or if the Lions management want to arrange fixtures knowing he'll be away, fine... just don't expect me to pay £25 to indulge them!

  14. It'll be seven weeks next Friday since the last home meeting and it's ridiculous and it's no wonder people drift away from speedway. Imagine the football being postponed for that length of time during the summer. One day promoters will find out that there is a material called tarpaulin which could be cut into parts to the shape of the corners and laid together over it. Both sides are banked and rain water would drain onto the grass and the meeting could take place after they've been rolled off. Just saying.

  16. Is it due to the threat of rain or due to the possibility of no howarth and hassle already out 🤔

  17. You are wrong, both teams won't be happy, Ipswich threw away the bonus point, moan about the track but it is restricted by the stock car track and fans want to see success like last season, they are less worried about the quality of racing. Poole also get good crowds because of their success.

  18. if anything the racing is often better now than it was back then, during Lockdown the Save Oxford Speedway YouTube put up old matches from the 80s, 90s and 00's - despite the obvious nostalgia element the racing was not great alot of the time - Hans regularly cleared off to win by the length of the home straight!

  19. He already told people last night he was going HoP today to meet with local MPs. Let’s face it, he is the only one actively getting off his arse and doing something about this sports so let’s all actually get behind him before we don’t have a sport to watch at all!

  20. Well to sum that up. Stream is probably the worst in the category of value for money compared to what you get elsewhere for the same price. Klindt is a gating tart. Embarrassing we’ve allowed Simon Lambert to score paid 9 against us. Once again hammered at reserve and Mitch Cluff is an embarrassment to all other speedway riders calling himself one. Think that pretty much covers it.

  21. I love Jason Edwards, he's one of my favourite riders around and he seems like such a nice lad, so I feel awful suggesting this but: Simon Lambert and Jason Edwards out Charles Wright and 2.19 in Tom Spencer? Charlie Southwick? Jack Roberts? Really feel like Jake Mulford is starting to find a little form this season, so I don't see the number 4 spot being too bad for him, particularly at home, and it allows Charles back in the team and Nicolai to stay, meaning the back end of the meeting will be stronger. Jake Allen as 3rd heat leader is very strong and Jody or Ace at 2 and 6 means there'll always be a solid 2 and very good 6 in the team. Just need to find a 2.00er who can pick up a couple of points here and there. The team looks way more balanced like this imo. 1. Charles Wright 9.11 2. Jody Scott 4.40 3. Jake Allen 6.64 4. Jake Mulford 4.56 5. Nicolai Klindt 8.73 6. Ace Pijper 4.37 7. 2.19

  22. Personally I think the FIM are to blame, they are the ones who set the technical regs. In sports like F1 they press the reset button every few years or the cars would be far too dangerous for the tracks they are racing on, the FIM don't seem to do this, for Speedway at least.

  23. I cannot like this post enough, it is everything that is wrong with the sport. Would love to see a Danny King go around Ipswich on a two valve or even a upright Jawa 897 and compare the times bet there won’t be much in it if at all.

  24. Of course it won't, and that's the point... Such a deterrent would stop so much nonsense being accepted... Similar to one point each and no rearrangement for called off meetings... That would ensure far more meetings that currently get called off would take place.. The nonsense has to stop...

  25. Hi Robinh88, I had this post pointed out to me, I have watched this footage back as have no memory of saying Mitch was tired. Indeed, having watched the heat back I did not say Mitch was tired, even once. I said, he's had a busy afternoon up to now taking 6 of his 7 rides, this due to be the 7th. Which was factually the case, and was disappointingly lacking comedy.

  26. He admitted live on the telly box a few weeks back that he didn’t make himself too popular with the others by publicly backing his riders over the insurance stuff but he just laughed it off. Don’t think he’s the least bit bothered to be honest. He was getting on absolutely fine with Mark Lemon last night though. They were have a good laugh and a chat for a good half hour before the meeting. We had a chat with him ourselves a few weeks ago at the rained off meeting. He was just inside the gates with Andrew Chisholm as we walked in, no airs and graces with him, he seems a genuine down to earth bloke and is very approachable. He had time to chat and answer questions to anyone that was asking him.

  27. Thats why we should run the Championship league season every week from late March/early April until a cut off at the end of June, with playoffs from the first week in July. Eight home meetings in 12/13 weeks is doable with ample time to reschedule rainoffs. Later rounds of cup comps can be run after this if required. The point where enough is enough is ever closer. Even Harris had a dig about this at the Oxford meeting on BSN.

  30. In response, Kyle said "I wish I could have been sat in the pits at a track in Poland, watching the racing for nothing, and actually being paid for being there"..... "I'll see if I can get myself a piece of that next time", he continued...

  31. The 105 team places in the top two tiers must earn what? An average of £30k a rider? Given the standard runs from GP Superstar to NDL level... If so, that's over £3 Million paid out... Any troubleshooter coming into the sport, would immediately say... "Restructure your operating model to find a way to knock a million off your payroll and stick it into prize money and marketing"....

  34. So if Lawson didn't have a Danish team, he'd either have to ride at Poole or get a 7 day suspension for a non-speedway injury. But because he has a Danish team who originally wanted to use him, he neither had to ride or get a suspension, how is that fair on all the riders who don't ride for foreign teams?

  36. He is getting on now though not going to be the same rider as he was a decade ago.

  37. To be fair he is the ultimate big fish in a small pond in the championship, and he's played the game like a finally tuned fiddle, knows he's too old now to make it into the gp , rides for two of the best clubs in the UK so knows he will get paid on time. At championship level he can win most rides in his sleep and at top level he's still a 7 point man without too much bother. Also self employed so he has winter earnings covered and can fit work around speedway. If you're one of the 90% of riders who won't make it to the top level he is the blue print to follow for decent earnings without the cost of a gp team.

  38. This was spoken about, they do have more equipment that was written online and they are investing in more, including a potential wonder wheel. Summer ‘27 the stadium gets some renovation but Mayfield have said they would pay rent upfront to bring that renovation forward. Nobody can say they aren’t trying!!! They have a good hour or so for Q&As last night and also one to ones!

  46. Whenever you find yourself wondering what is causing the downfall of British speedway be it selfish promoters, finances, lack of advertisement, no characters in the sport anymore, unreliable meetings with the weather etc. The truth is the downfall is down to tracks like this. Any possibility of racing is absolutely strangled from the off. Follow the leader on repeat for 15 hearts month in month out and year in year out. Tripe.
