This is fantastic news. Phil said ticket sales are poor, they need to hand out a load of free tickets and pack the place out then because this is a huge opportunity to sell the product at the best race track in the country. Makes a world of difference with a packed stadium and great atmosphere.

As I commented on Karlitos YouTube video: “This is a GOLDEN opportunity for British Speedway, something which the authorities need to take with both hands. Just don’t mess it up! Many cynics may say ‘oh it’s only in ITV 4’, but in order to make a journey, first you have to take the hardest step which is the first. Good luck to everyone involved.”

Hopefully the start of a longer term relationship... Good to get it on free to air.. Only concern is the optics of it playing out in front of loads of empty seats.... They may to take a hit and do several hundred very cheap seats... "Speedway is that still going?" Will be something many watching will be saying.. Therefore, make it look ultra popular... And ensure every track with a rider there gets mentioned... A "Golden Ticket" to be played..

Credit where credit is due fair play to Poole I’m far from a Poole fan but when you have legends in Hancock giving you pointers you can’t go wrong Poole will win the league now and it’s up to the rest of us to up our games, there obviously a club people want to ride for good luck to them they haven’t done anything wrong

Remember Wheels clearly from the 80's and 90's, an Anglia TV production on quite late at night; they used to have motocross, truck racing and all sorts. From memory the three speedway offerings were the 4TT from P'boro, the 16 lapper from Ippo and either the PotE or the Barum Trophy from Lynn. Dave Lanning on comms. Had years worth of them recorded on VHS that we wore out from watching! Great memories.

Or get out tomorrow, Thursday Friday and Saturday into city centre Manchester and flog them... Give 100 x £10 tickets to every track and see if they can sell them... It is a British Final, not a Belle Vie individual meeting, so every track should have a presence there..

Take the announcement on board and let’s hope it turns out to be a success. If you can generate interest then it might just lead to a new opportunity for the sport in the UK and further afield. Just imagine televising a top Polish league match live with English commentary. Just one meeting at that professional level may make viewers want to seek out UK team racing. It has got to start somewhere so for all the doubters, you don’t have to watch, go and sit in the stands or just ignore the meeting and stop complaining when someone somewhere has pushed the boat out to get the sport live on TV on Saturday night.

Agree. This is a huge chance. Get a pop up stand with a bike and vids of speedway playing etc, up the town centre, and get rid of plenty of tickets, and fill the place. Look at the bigger picture.

At that time under IBA rules regional broadcasters had to comply with producing so many hours of local content which included some sport so 10.30 after the news suited with 1 or 2 ENG type cameras.

The Coventry British final days will live long in the memory. Fantastic occasions, fantastic line ups, and the title meant far more then (or seemed to) than it does now sadly. Great day out and the only day out that came close for me, was the fours finals at Peterborough.

Not every meeting can be a thriller even at the NSS! An average/poor meeting is an anomaly here. But, get rid of the bloody laydowns and bring back uprights 🙄

Excellent news and everybody should be posting about this on their social media and hopefully generate decent viewing figures. This is an opportunity to get the sport in front of new eyes so hope the meeting is a good one. (Shame the AI poster has a typo on the Trophy ) so I shall be posting my own version but hopefully the sport can make the most of this opportunity. .

The answer is if those on here still believe the sport has a future in the UK try and get to Belle Vue and if they could simply give tickets away free to attend like Arena Essex did a few years back then who knows how it will look. Pack out the stadium, create the atmosphere and make sure the riders are told to chase every point available and find a sponsor to put up a winners pot that is worth while then you have the making of a show case. At this late stage those outside the sport have not got a clue so it is the best opportunity to go for sh.t or bust. It does not matter at this stage who or what organisation rallies around to make this work, those watching for the first time will not have a clue when it was decided what the winner gets so try and push the boat out and make it happen. All on here know that if speedway is to succeed we owe it to get behind this opportunity . I hate the phrase unprecedented but this is and a chance that may never come the sports way ever again.

I believe you are preaching to the converted, the problem is ww need to convert the non believers. So it doesnt really matter whos ball it is every club in the country needs to do everything to promote the meeting and get people there. A live event on terrestrial TV in a fairly empty stadium will not get potential supporters flocking to the turnstiles. British Speedway needs a hard reset and everyone currently involved from top to bottom needs to get involved. If saturdays meeting is a big success with high viewing figures its a firm foundation to build on. If its a meeting full of delays because theres a queue at the entrance and played out in front of empty stands, then we may as well throw in the towel.

British Speedway has to be aired on free to air television imo. Hopefully they can get PREMIERSHIP Speedway on ITV4 next season as it's the only way to try and get new eyes on the Sport over here.

100%, all very much live for now given the landscape... But a signing like this, later in the season, will always give some fresh impetus to a club, which can only be a positive when attracting people into the stadium.. Especially one that could have a few "dead rubbers" as they are pretty much nailed on for the play offs...

Difference between when a club declares a change and when they ride, what’s to say Jacob wasn’t going in at Scunny anyway and then Dan was unfortunately injured Scunny then using these injuries rather than performance as the reason for the change in their press release. Same with Poole their new lineup with Lightcap could have been presented to the BSPL on Friday or Saturday prior to the Berwick match, from memory a change has to be decanted three days prior to the rider making their debut although I’d need to double check on that one So in essence if Glasgow had/have redecorated their side prior to Friday then it would be ok, albeit giving the quotes from Cami it would appear that isn’t the case

Somewhat confusing, if Scunny can bring in Hook, and Poole are today (reportedly) signing up Slater Lightcap -- both signings after these clubs completed 11 Championship matches...... Why can't the Tigers make a couple of signings before their 12th match? Or can they?

The NLRC at Coventry was my highlight of the year - something like the coach parade seems like it's from another world now!

Scoreline kept me interested but unlike last week the racing didn't. Funny how a big scoreline last week can be much more better racing than a scoreline close like tonight.

It's called promoting! Fans more likely to attend when there is opposition riders they like as well as the home riders. For example a lot of Poole fans like King and Nicholls so bigger crowd when Plymouth come, than when Oxford are here.

BVTV have by the best screen display as in regards to the info they show on the screen but they have too many camera angles and changes so many times in one lap you can’t focus on the actual racing which is a shame, if they limited it to the large ‘broadcast’ view of the whole track with just a few times zooming into when two riders are racing close then they would be smashing their live stream.

Absolutely, a great race track might not get more fans through the gate but a bad one will see you struggle to keep what you have. A promoters greatest asset isnt the riders or the stadium, its the track itself, your whole business is about what happens on that oval, get that wrong and your toast, sooner or later.

If by “basic managerial mistakes” you’re referring to his selection of Lawson and King over Musielak against Belle Vue, that’s just your opinion. My opinion, along with a few others around me at the time, understood the selection. Musielak got nowhere near Kurtz and Harris in 13, not sure why you’re confident he would have two heats later. It’s very easy with hindsight. On him throwing a “tantrum” (it was hardly that despite sensationalist “fuming” headlines in the write up), he criticised the away team on WitchesTV mid meeting whilst Ipswich were six up so he wasn’t using it as an excuse. His point was the Leicester manager and riders got in to the referees head and forced Bob Ellis to tyre pack the track despite the track man telling them it would only make things worse. It DID make things worse, and Hurry’s point was they should have listened to those with experience of track prep. Now everyone is entitled to have their own view on that and that’s fine, Leicester and their supporters will obviously have a different one. But Hurry is also entitled to have his opinion also and he had a right to voice it. Mountain out of molehills spring to mind here. Let’s not get in to the train of thought that we should gag those involved and stop them airing their views and voicing their opinions. I want them speaking their mind and would like to hear more of it in the future. It would have been good to see the reporter get Dickson’s view also and it was disappointing that wasn’t forthcoming (unless I missed it).
