Barker said there would no passing because track was slick, how wrong he was, passed Kerr in his first race then got passed by Kerr later in the same race. There was passing in most races.

The positive social aspect of how the sport was, shouldn't ever be understated... Even into the mid 90's the BV riders would be in the bar having a drink and signing autographs with the many fans who stayed to have a beer... Supporters Clubs across the country arranged away meetings coaches and held regular social events through the season... The operating model was always "a bit Mickey Mouse" (but obviously nothing like today's Guestfest version), however, the social aspect of the sport kept people engaged and invested in the teams, so therefore they attended regularly... Teams who were, most weeks, your own riders, or riders doubling up who had been loaned out by your team to a Div 2 track for their development... Nowadays it looks like Teams are put together the night before, with anyone and everyone in the frame to ride for your club on a adhoc, horses for courses, basis.. And, some riders will leave the stadium almost before Heat 15 has started if they have a very early flight the next morning from an airport miles away from the track they have raced on... The whole thing needs urgent review and a complete overhaul and reset... Start UK Speedway again...

Until those who run the sport put the fans at priority one it will never grow. The riders have run the sport for the last 2/3 decades, this fraud call-off was in my view 100% rider consideration, nowt to do with fans.

Well this probably proves that you know nothing outside your Poole bubble as he's already taken 6 rides+ in a meeting 10 times this season across PL + CL. So I would think he would know a thing or 2 about the tyres...

Earlier, Robert Lambert was also supposed to protest”. A few Polish tweets going along the same lines about riders dropping Sweden next year. Could well open up opportunities for a few clubs here…. Maybe 😁

The fact Harris left his comments open so long on his post about the incident allowing some of the comments to be posted is bonkers. For what its worth I don't mind either rider, looks to me as if Harris turned his bike to stop and took Barker off by mistake. Can't comment on the stamping incident as there are bikes in the way but would imagine if he did stamp on him then more Plymouth riders and officials would of been kicking off about it. Some lad claiming to be Harris' mechanic is on there posting all sorts of comical threats, threatening to rip Barkers throat out next time he sees him. He couldn't rip a sausage roll out of a greggs paperbag the absolute k**bhead.

Maybe. Above all else though, we should be ensuring we look after British speedway first. I don't claim to know the ins and outs of the tyre deal in Sweden, but it sounds as though they're trying to reduce costs for everyone, but the bigger names like Lambert (sponsored by Anlas...) and Zmarzlik are against it. This quote is a pretty good stance IMO: "If Zmarzlik, who earns millions of kronor, decides to stay home, that's his choice. For me, the most important thing is that Swedish riders are doing well," said Krister Gardell, head of speedway at the Swedish Motorcycle Federation. Ensure British speedway is healthy and young Brits are actually being produced, then we can consider the bigger names as and when they become viable.

As Lawson has eloquently explained on several occasions, creating and going over the 'blue groove' allows rubber to transfer from the tyres giving more traction (grip) if you catch it correctly. This gives an inside line as well as a wider outside line. Q.E.D.!

Bomber has had so many brainwashed for years, as the ultimate team man and ride through fences for the fans, been making good money out of this persona for years, seems in his old age he’s forgot the camera and the fans could still see him. His statement just makes no sense when you watch the video, he’d of been better of making no statement at all just made himself look a bit silly.

Back in the day riders turned up with bikes strapped to the boot of the car and poor Terry Stone regularly turned up at Rayleigh with dirty bikes seemingly having some sentimental value for the dirt of Bradford, Canterbury, Eastbourne etc. Eventually he took on board the point and eventually turned out for each meeting with spotless bikes, you could eat your dinner off the mudguards. Those were the days because as you said they rode in addition to the main job and it could earn them good additional money. For anyone old enough, after a meeting at Rayleigh the riders all met up at the Blinking Owl Cafe on the A127 and many a supporter joined them. It was a better time for the image of the sport and while the racing may not be as fast and furious as today, it was competitive and young riders were given chances that only today’s youngsters can dream about. Some made it others battled through but you got to see an aspiring young newcomer take on a heat leader and my abiding memory is Rayleigh versus Boston and Ivan Miller a grass track rider beating Arthur Price a heat leader for Boston. Compared to today’s homogenised offering the sport in those days offered opportunity and a chance for success on a level playing field with bikes that were basically the same and anyone old enough will remember riders winning a race on the ‘track spare’. It just would not happen today and more is the pity.

That really is the problem with speedway. It's not a business, it's a sporting activity. Certainly in the UK. The sooner speedway realises it is an amateur sport and stops pretending otherwise, maybe it will survive going into the future, in my opinion.

It is obviously because we are winners, nobody likes other teams winning everything especially teams that are bottom.

You're largely right. This saying that people don't go to speedway because they "don't like seeing the same riders every week" or "the Rider Replacement rule is too complicated" is utter nonsense. That's not the reason new people don't come to Speedway. It's the reason who old people who've been going to Speedway for 50 years THINK that new people don't come to speedway. They're wrong. Look at Darts. No one complains they're just seeing Luke Littler every week in different competitions. They go for the atmosphere. The razzmatazz. Being able to shout and sing in a large crowd, creating an atmosphere. The lights, the music. They can't even see the darts go in the board, but they don't care. They're wrapped up in the atmosphere. Cricket - again, look at crowds for the 20/20 and 100 ball stuff. They go for the atmosphere, the razmatazz, lasers, music. Bands playing in between innings. They don't stay away because Freddie Trueman was playing for Worcestershire last week and today he's playing for the Birmingham Broncos. They don't stay away because they don't unfderstand Duckworth Lewis. Speedway just hasn't moved with the times. The sport is far more exciting than darts or cricket. The one minute races are perfect for today's short attention span customers, but we're not providing the atmosphere and value for money around the basic sport. We're not making it cool to go to speedway like it's cool to watch the darts or the short-form cricket.

I get where you are coming from. But surely people go to Speedway to see racing, irrespective of who rides for who on which date

Good points, for the future of British Speedway, I don't mind Champ moving closer to NL level. It's such a big jump currently for the next generation to make the step up.

People can only comment on what they've seen, we've seen Harris ride into Barker, we've seen what looks like Harris stamping on Barker, with the bike blocking the view, we can't be certain either way. We've seen Barker ride up to Harris to complain apparently unhappy with what happened in the race. We've seen Harris shove him away. Now I didn't see anything wrong with what happened during the race, certainly nothing to cause Barker to be so upset. I'd barely even call it hard racing. Now Harris has told us that Barker said unsavoury things, if true that's uncalled for by Barker, but that's one riders word against another, gonna be very hard to prove.

Certainly, and quite correctly, riders are covering all bases... Just like many have for a long time given they compete in a sport where you can get sacked for doing too well!!! I think the 2nd tier average will be slashed for several reasons.. One. To give clear demarcation between the top two tiers, meaning the league that gets sold to TV is truly a "flagship" one.. Two. The hoped for TV contract should encourage at least two teams to go into tier one, particularly as some tier two teams will be concerned what impact the much lower limit will have on their decent attendance numbers, (given tier two fans are used to watching tier one HL's, so might not see a lesser standard as worth regular attending)... Three. A lower points limit will mean more two and three pont riders needed so development opportunities for more UK riders in a league that doesn't include World Class talent, but is a step up from NDL. You can foresee one decent level No1, who won't ride in Poland, but Double Up, and maybe ride somewhere else in Europe, with, at least two riders, three points and under, in most teams.. Four. The Polish one league rule will pretty much remove most Europeans and Scandinavians from tier two, and remove the doubling up Aussies riding in Poland, who will stay in tier one if they choose the UK, which, given many live here with families will be their clear first choice due to visa requirements... In short. A great opportunity for the desperately needed reset, a huge opportunity to give more development opportunities to young UK riders, and something well, well overdue. With the 2nd tier becoming that bridge, (that it used to be), between the NDL to the Premiership, rather than being "too strong"... And ticks plenty of boxes many on here have suggested for well over a decade!!!

personally if i was advising young riders id tell them that bike time is very important at your time, dont do Poland and ride in both leagues in UK, get a Swedish spot and a Denmark spot and while your young ride as many different tracks you can . but the zloty will always win sadly

Cracking meeting tonight played out in front of what was probably the biggest crowd of the season? Loads of great racing all through the meeting. Batchelor the stand out for the visitors. Best he has been at Poole for years. Zack Cook star of the show two weeks running.

The run to the line in heat 2 was pretty good by Slater. Joe moaning it is all from the gate then passing in the next race in which he is a part of lol. Will going from last to second to last and then third. Barker from third to first then to second. For the Poole track was alright tbf.

Nothing wrong with the racing; hard but fair. Harris went over the top afterwards and should face consequences for it. It was described as 'loutish' earlier in the thread which feels bang on.

No, you only get banned for not turning up... Plus... Any ban for Bomber would mean about five teams short of a rider...
