  1. It's crazy that British Speedway thinks it is more credible to use guest riders rather than a genuine replacement for a rider with a season ending injury. Of course, the regulation was changed after Belle Vue did that ( when the regs allowed it - unintentionally or otherwise) to bring in Robert Lambert to replace the injured Max Fricke a few years ago.

  2. The shock of the meeting was the announcement from Jamie Swales that he is stepping down as Promoter at the end of the season. Also an excellent 2 minute silence for the 2 Police officers tragically killed last week. Well done Redcar Speedway

  3. If no-one will beat Poole over two legs, why aren't they in the KO Cup Final?

  5. 100%... Gorzow have brought in Charles Wright to replace Jack Holder . Now, he isn't obviously a LIke For Like replacement but if there had been some World Class riders not riding in Poland they could have, and would have, brought one in.. Like a proper team sport would allow...

  6. no, unfortunately not, a genuine season ending injury should be allowed a transfer

  8. Fair post…… except the harsh racing part. There was absolutely nothing harsh about it.

  9. I honestly can’t believe that people’s love of riders get in the way of facts. did Harris and barker have a hard good race …. Yes. did barker say any words to Harris. No one knows but likely something was said. is there clear evidence no matter what Harris says that he swiped barkers bike yes there is. did Harris stomp on barker who knows from the video it looks like it but it’s no conclusive. Did they have words in the pits of course that the nature of it. should they shake hands and just get on with it, of course. Race I thought was harsh but maybe just about fair. I’ve no idea what barker says. But Harris clearly swipes the wheel and Harris looks old an idiot saying otherwise. Just own it. Shake hands and move on.

  10. No, Poole will get the 4th place in semis and 2nd and 3rd are in the other

  11. No, only thing you get for finishing top is you choose which leg you have at home. 1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd. 4th place looking like Edinburgh unless they decide to win at Berwick.

  12. Very Poor management of the Tigers made it an easier match for the Bears. Blindingly obvious that Battye needed to replace Hagon in heat 11, but Hodder comes in in heat 8 and therefore Hagon has to stay in 11 Battye scores 5 from 2 finishes, plus a fall when miles ahead and doesn't get any extra rides 😲 should have been in 12 Thanks Cami from all the Bears fans 😊

  13. Much easier than expected, honestly thought Edinburgh would run us close tonight. Written off at start of the season, but play-offs secured. Whatever happens, it's been a great year, thoroughly entertaining.

  14. We cant replace anyone, guests for the rest of the season

  15. Thought the rain might help. How this team will probably place 2nd is a head scratcher.

  18. 2 main reasons, Harris was at 1 for Poole (for the 1st leg) and JJ was at reserve for Berwick. Says it all really!

  19. Very grey skies at present, but no rain yet, we maybe lucky.

  20. As per the regs 014.8 CHAMPIONSHIP LEAGUE RIDERS 014.8.1 Qualifying Criteria The number 1 rider from each team and additional riders will be determined by MA from the green sheets. A total of 16 riders ensuring all teams are represented. This will determine the line up for the Championship League Riders

  21. Not sure to be honest, it would be smooth, slick, dry and predictable, everything the modern riders seem to want.

  22. There a many variables that can contribute imho. I would go against any of the above. Spinning up on a slick track ( blue groove) certainly dont help. I'd add riding styles to a lesser extent, and bike set up to that as well. Having said that, riders shouldn't have to worry about trying to make their tyre last a meeting on any track. 2 tyres per rider instead of 1 would help in the short term imho.

  23. Can we give this a rest now.

  24. No one will beat Poole over 2 legs, the consolation for the other 3 teams is to get to the final. Other 3 teams are pretty even, Poole streets ahead.

  25. Not very far either lol

  26. Lets be honest that picture just about sums up British Speedway, a professional sport amateur run with a leave it in the corner over there attitude. That pile of tyres represent the problems within the sport where them that rule walk past it every day with blinkers on saying to themselves if we ignore it all will be ok.

  27. Robert Lambert would be a great addition to the play offs .. Considering the sport uses Mickey Mouse rules all season, (often to its detriment), it seems ridiculous that at the business end of the season they don't do the same to improve the spectacle...

  28. On his Vlog, Dan T said these meetings can actually cost you money if you don't end up in the top few... Can't blame riders for not taking up that "great opportunity" can you?..

  29. Wrong way round. It was Greg who was looking for a team place for Slater. Poole didn’t ask Greg - Greg asked Poole.

  30. It's 'sun breaks' that annoy me. Either tinted goggs, strip of black tape across the top, angle head down or utililize 'The Kelly Moran (Boulevard) method', take note: "When the sun is in your eyes as you go over the start / finish line, count 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi - then turn'. (!)....

  31. According to Dan T in a recent Vlog, the winner of the British Final got £1750, and 16th got £200... I would presume neither of the meetings mentioned will be getting more...

  32. I can remember Doug Templeton taking brother Willies front wheel away after a race at Coatbridge. Great moments in sport!

  33. Well this probably proves that you know nothing outside your Poole bubble as he's already taken 6 rides+ in a meeting 10 times this season across PL + CL. So I would think he would know a thing or 2 about the tyres...

  34. Haha, here he is again slagging off our track, the same track that produced great entertainment and racing last night.

  35. Brady Kurtz replying to the tyre problem said part of the problem is poorly prepared tracks

  37. From Batch's FB, taken 2 hours ago. There is no mention if this was from last nights meeting though. Troy Batchelor 1͏h͏ · This is what we’re racing on now days … The second photo is with a nearly new tyre for comparison. I just think to myself maybe a competitors tyre would/could/has been better ? We’re putting our lives on the line every time we go racing. The priority should be giving riders the safest and best-performing tyre possible whatever that may be. Maybe we should be given the choice to use the tyre we feel is best for us. Maybe Sweden has got it right with their tyre rules ? I know my opinion. Ultimately I want what’s best for the sport. If speedway wins we all win. Some people think this is moaning when in reality it’s just facts and if no-one is willing to say anything, nothing will ever change.

  38. There should be more action like this. Staged or naturally occurring. it would get more people through the door. Let's not forget, it it a dangerous sport, the stakes are high and emotions run a bit. How things like this don't happen more baffles me. Look at the discussion it has initiated here. Bit of drama, should be more of it. Get some real characters back in the game. Does it matter who was right or wrong? The main thing is no one was hurt. We have been entertained, they have done their jobs.

  41. Yes, I have 😁 ”Bartosz Zmarzlik is set to withdraw from starts in the Swedish Bauhaus-Ligan in 2027! The reason is a new tire agreement that will take effect in the Land of the Three Crowns! Earlier, Robert Lambert was also supposed to protest”. A few Polish tweets going along the same lines about riders dropping Sweden next year. Could well open up opportunities for a few clubs here…. Maybe 😁

  42. Good points, for the future of British Speedway, I don't mind Champ moving closer to NL level. It's such a big jump currently for the next generation to make the step up.

  43. People can only comment on what they've seen, we've seen Harris ride into Barker, we've seen what looks like Harris stamping on Barker, with the bike blocking the view, we can't be certain either way. We've seen Barker ride up to Harris to complain apparently unhappy with what happened in the race. We've seen Harris shove him away. Now I didn't see anything wrong with what happened during the race, certainly nothing to cause Barker to be so upset. I'd barely even call it hard racing. Now Harris has told us that Barker said unsavoury things, if true that's uncalled for by Barker, but that's one riders word against another, gonna be very hard to prove.

  44. Certainly, and quite correctly, riders are covering all bases... Just like many have for a long time given they compete in a sport where you can get sacked for doing too well!!! I think the 2nd tier average will be slashed for several reasons.. One. To give clear demarcation between the top two tiers, meaning the league that gets sold to TV is truly a "flagship" one.. Two. The hoped for TV contract should encourage at least two teams to go into tier one, particularly as some tier two teams will be concerned what impact the much lower limit will have on their decent attendance numbers, (given tier two fans are used to watching tier one HL's, so might not see a lesser standard as worth regular attending)... Three. A lower points limit will mean more two and three pont riders needed so development opportunities for more UK riders in a league that doesn't include World Class talent, but is a step up from NDL. You can foresee one decent level No1, who won't ride in Poland, but Double Up, and maybe ride somewhere else in Europe, with, at least two riders, three points and under, in most teams.. Four. The Polish one league rule will pretty much remove most Europeans and Scandinavians from tier two, and remove the doubling up Aussies riding in Poland, who will stay in tier one if they choose the UK, which, given many live here with families will be their clear first choice due to visa requirements... In short. A great opportunity for the desperately needed reset, a huge opportunity to give more development opportunities to young UK riders, and something well, well overdue. With the 2nd tier becoming that bridge, (that it used to be), between the NDL to the Premiership, rather than being "too strong"... And ticks plenty of boxes many on here have suggested for well over a decade!!!
