Those "last gasp" meetings before the cut off date often show the "integrity" involved .. With a good many down the years taking place on tracks that would have seen a call off in the months before.. "We just need to get to Heat 10"...😀 Amazing how the date of a meeting can suddenly make tracks rideable...😁 If only this country ever got some decent weather from say April to August, the fixture compilers could have at least a chance of fitting in so few meetings in so many weeks!!!4 points

So, it seems after the longest and driest summers since nineteen canteen, a six team league will struggle to fulfil their fixtures before the current play off dates and so will loose my money should we (Ipswich) make it because I stupidly booked a holiday. How on earth did we fit in 28-30 meetings a season?4 points

Maybe teams should've run during the lovely summer instead of having such a disjointed fixture list.4 points

Nice to see him ignoring the approaches of other clubs who think they can poach hot prospects, instead of seeking & developing a promising newcomer themselves🙂4 points

Just to pull in the horses a bit. If Poole currently attract a crowd of 1,000 in the Championship, how many more holidaymakers, etc, will attend if the Pirates move into the Premiership? Let's be optimistic, and say another 500. No more, as regular followers will be there anyway, whatever the level of racing (as long as the team is regularly winning) as history shows attendances go up very little if a team goes up a league. In the past, Scunthorpe, Workington and Plymouth were all running very profitable speedways at NDL level, but found little if any increase when they went up. When Somerset went up to the top league and signed the World Champion, the increase was minimal. Simply, Poole is a profitable concern in the Championship. Why change? To run as a Premier club, the dramatically-increased wage bill -- probably 4 times that being paid this season -- world have them running in the red in jigtime. TV money? Who're you kidding? Even if a deal were reached, the dribble-down that would accrue to each Premier club wouldn't turn loss into profit. Take it easy Pirates. That grass isn't really greener.3 points

i live down the road from track,,,nice warm sunny day ,small shower this morning,,, bank hoilday,, good crowd expected,,,and again no meeting,,no wonder the sports gone to pot,,,something dont add up.3 points

Now if I was losing £10k a meeting and my riders were carrying injuries or with-holding that might just work and save me a few quid but as I'm not in that position I'll go with your suggestion and not get my ego confused with my integrity 😉2 points
-
As has been suggested before .. Any meeting called off gets one point each to the teams and doesn't get ran at a later date, and no bonus point gets awarded for those section of home and away meetings.. If they were the rules I would suggest many, many more meetings would take place that currently get called off now... With the riders themselves being the main ones pushing for the meeting to take place given each meeting lost is a pay day lost too...2 points

Not as low as 1,000. Last week vs Plymouth was over 2,000 if a poster is to believed. Also you have the novelty factor for a season as well. Matt Ford also said if Poole moved up they would have both Holder and Cook brothers (depending if Jack can get fit again of course) but that would be a big draw. Every season on Poole FB group, fans you always asking if we will ever see Chris or Jack at Poole again. Also don't mean this a mean way but the Championship has no challenges for Poole. You can pretty much put Poole in top 2/3 in table straight away, whereas Prem is a bit more unpredictable and more challenging where you would end up in the table. Although if anyone were to move up, they need to start prepping for it June/July onwards so you don't end up with the cast offs!2 points

Yes seems that way. Its on Bandits website News now as well. There been something special at Berwick this year. Good crowds, excellent racing, good presentation, social media on the ball etc. Okay they cant always get it perfect, no one can, there will always be critics somewhere, thats nature of day to day living as everyone entitled to opinion but its been good in 2026.2 points

You've completely and utterly missed the point! Guesting for a rival compromises the integrity of the competition. I have no issue with Sheffield, more with the system, my own club and the two riders. I don't imagine Fricke is bothered either way as he'll guest for Sheffield if Lynn don't make it.2 points

Tonight's news on Reid Battye, who has re-signed for Berwick in 2027 is really tremendous. Reid has had (generous) offers from other clubs to leave the Bandits, but will instead "dance with the one that brung him to the ball"2 points

Was at the cycle speedway in Leicester & looking forward to seeing the Speedway afterwards. While it rained at times, they just got on with it. Almost looks bad for Speedway that an amateur sport with brushes can get a track ready, but a professional sport with tractors etc can't?1 point

There have been plenty of shysters in this sport over the last 100 years, not all of them recent!1 point

It will not happen. Those that run clubs and decide when to race are in control and the punters can go screw themselves as not one promoter or club owner gives a fig as far as supporters are concerned. It will not happen but clubs like these second rate businesses deserve to be boycotted and frankly UK speedway is not what it was when clubs were run by professionals and not the cowboys who seemingly think they are the future of the sport when in reality they are bringing it to its knees. To every promoter, the message is ‘you are shisters’ and you would not have survived back in the day when the sport had a modicum of respectability but each one of you have brought the sport to its nadir. I hope you are all proud of your efforts because few if any supporters believe you have the sports interest at heart. Thankfully real supporters have credible options to follow and the UK features way down the rankings when it comes to following this once great sport.1 point

Not that’s it’s going to happen now but I do think the play down thing is a bit unfair on Zeilona gora, Gorzow and grudiadz, Częstochowa have been shocking all year but 2 good matches in the play downs could of seen them stay up even though they haven’t scored a point all season1 point

Doesn't make sense, multiple people here said hardly rained, British cycle speedway championships at Leicester lots of photo/video showing its dry, they haven't got a spare Monday/Thursday to rearrange this now, why call off a bank holiday meeting?1 point

I would say 2 out of 4. Beat me to it Mike! Poland actually helping Poole by default if we move up as only Danes that don't ride in Poland would be affected. Can also do what happens in the Champ, and ride at Poole in July during the Danish break for the teams that have any Danes in. So more doable than it has been recently. Just need a tv deal now and could be a go! 👀1 point

Totally disgusting, no wonder people give up on the sport. I was considering going to this but won't be planning any other trips given how easily they call meetings off. Probably looked at the Ipswich side and didn't fancy it.1 point

Provided they can prove they’ve been trying to get a replacement, the facility can be extended.1 point

I don't think so. Whilst it is good to race at the highest level possible, this brings it's own negatives. The rider joins a team & is not expected to score many points & the team insist there is no pressure on the young rider which is all fine & well until the teams results are in question. Whilst racing in a lower league the rider can race against others of the same standard & can learn to win races rather than having to come from behind to gain points. This will see the rider progress within the side & gain more confidence 7 advance his career quicker1 point

Given the "one extra" league, the better level of riders will have to choose either Sweden, Denmark or the UK, meaning less cross over, so minimal clashes, (if any at all)... That should mean Poole could, theoretically, ride in the top tier on Wednesdays...1 point
-
This will cause a rider shortage but on the plus side it will mean Premiership will get Wednesday and Tuesday racenights back. Surely Poole will move up to a watered down Premiership on their favoured Wednesday race night.1 point

Watched a Vlog on YT from the ZG/Gorzow match a fortnight ago... It is done by a Polish lad who usually does generic football Vlogs as he visits different places.. There were at least 10 White Police Vans outside the stadium to try and ensure a safe day for fans... He filmed the crowd and the ZG "end" was incredible... All orchestrated singing, flag waving, and banner displaying... A truly brilliant atmosphere, with a last heat decider too.. Not many seemed to prioritise filling their programmes in as soon as the races finished, nor many asked those around them to be quiet so they could hear the times being read out.....1 point

I'd agree with that. If Lawson stays he would surely need to knock European racing on the head. Will be interesting to see how Lawson goes against the Championship's best on Wednesday. Might be crucial in making up the minds of the Pirate's promotion on which way to go? I'm not Master's greatest fan, but he would do a job. Kerr is simply a matter of value, he has been great for Poole this year, but can't see much potential for further improvement, but might be good for consistency if there were wholesale changes. The issue with Rushen is maybe where Poole comes on his priority list, he does pack in alot of racing. Poole's biggest problem is definitely finding a replacement for Zac. Morris is I think an interesting proposition. Would be more than happy with Cairns, Lightcap and Bailey.1 point

Interesting. Were we almost in sacking terroirity there? 😬👀. Though i like Sam Masters so no issues with him being in the team. Hard to make any predictions til we hear what riders will be doing with the new Polish rules? 🤷♀️1 point

This is how Bewley got track record on a wet August bank holiday, but will mean poor racing.1 point

Well if Fricke was to deliberately get a zero, and Kings Lynn still not get a play off spot, would he then lose the possibility of guesting for Sheffield in the play off, and the extra points money he could earn tonight.1 point

Every team has their nutters including your beloved gorzow, worst I’ve seen was Gdansk when they raced Toruń a few years ago, think it was around 2014, we were there on a GP weekend, they were masked up ready for a fight from the very start of the meeting and they certainly got one, bit I didn’t understand was Toruń fans were in a fenced off pen surrounded by police but some still got into rest of stadium. Also like to add that Zeilona gora is one of if not the best atmosphere in any speedway stadium world wide, the noise from those fans is something else1 point

Ultimately if we don't qualify (again) it'll be because of the three home defeats and at least one loss at Northampton; however the optics of two of our riders helping a direct rival do so is horrendous, and something British Speedway needs to sort out going forward.1 point
-
Why? I don't see it needs to be that low. A small reduction is okay but 32 would be a massive drop.1 point

Brilliant news. Reid isn’t just performing on the bike there are new fans turning up just to see him. And that’s exactly what we need. Does the business on track and makes a huge effort with people. Something has just changed this year the atmosphere in the ground has been incredible. Part of that is home wins part of it is the rider interaction with the paying punters. I do truly believe that Reid, fresh faced and doggedly determined to ride to the best of his ability is a huge part of that. Well spotted Dick.1 point

An exciting rider. Good to see him back with the Bandits. P.S. Glad he won't be off to any NORA meetings next year. He'd never live it down (or understand).1 point

Trust Sheffield to be the first team to use guests this season1 point

This is why I detest guests; Fricke and Cook could in theory help Sheffield pip Lynn to 4th.1 point

Imo the track last night didn't seem to have much grip with the highlight for some being Thomsen's pass on BZ ,it was overall gate and go . The Aussies deserved the win they were by far the best team in a team event ,speaking personally I didn't care who won I was more interested in the racing and in many ways it proved what I have always thought .S/way is a team sport ridden by individuals someone commented that BZ rides differently in GP's or league matches they are spot on he is on a personal mission in the GP's and is paid a huge amount of money in the league . Kurtz and Lambert are in a different place they are on the cusp of being at the very top of the sport ,both now real threats to BZ which is great for the sport and even BZ as you are only as good as the competition and need to be kept on your toes . My point being no matter where it was held these type of meetings never really catch fire because what's truly at stake !1 point
