Following the liquidation of Kevin Boothby’s businesses, whoever is in charge at the stadium has issued this release. Very encouraging, hopefully. https://oxford-stadium.co.uk/4 points

Not bad finishing 3rd in the league, so many experts on this thread having Scorpions down as bottom.😁4 points

Just look at the event from the 10th to the 13th September at the Northampton track and see how the whole period is organised with the punters in mind whereas speedway is organised around the participants and the punters are not even considered. Agree that the drivers pay to compete but you give a good few hours of entertainment that appeals to a whole range of ages and Spedeworth go out to treat the punter to an event. Speedway does not even come close in this country and until the views of the a few change and the promoters get an idea of what it takes to promote, it will continue to attract less and less punters. Speedway is not value for money from an entertainment perspective and is run by fickle promoters who have fickle riders who dictate what when and how things go on in terms of the track. I would rather pay £20 on a banger/stock car meeting knowing it will be on then rock up to a track for speedway only to find that a cat has pissed on bend four and it is not suitable for racing according to the riders. Chalk and cheese when it comes to entertainment and value for money, hence the only speedway worth watching at this time is the Polish scene who know how to put on a meet.3 points

I agree a Wednesday night at Poole is not good planning but the crowd would still be bigger than if it was held at Belle Vue on a Monday. You only need to look at the crowd for the British Final or the failure to sell out the GP’s at Belle Vue to realise it wouldn’t make financial sense to hold every big meeting at that track.2 points

First meeting in about 2 years because wee man wanted to go. Brilliant advert for speedway I thought, can't remember heat without genuine passing after the 2nd bend. 11, 13 and 14 in particular I thought were superb. Pickering is a class act, Leon had to ride the wheels off it to beat him. Bug might be coming back!2 points

How the hell was that a false start? The referee is trying to fix this for Lublin.1 point

Anyone else think Polish speedway needs a joker? Similar to what we had in British speedway with the black and white helmet. Zmarzlilk coming out to score 6 points and create an 8-1 would be great entertainment. What do you think? @racers and royals1 point

And you completely contradict yourself... Laguta is rarely in heat 1.1 point

The whole thing was all a bit "handbags" wasn't it?.. However, I was surprised how many people came out in support of "St. Bomber"... I then thought a bit more about the reason why, and then it came to me .. Bomber would probably have been voted EVERY team's rider of the year for the past decade or so... He must attend so many end of season presentations each year ...1 point

Zmarzlik should thank Putin for his world titles. Laguta is the best rider in the world. Kurtz is 4 points behind Bartosz and Kurtz is not close to Laguta's level.1 point

Brilliant from Andersen to avoid Kurtz....1 point

2027 (Premiership continuing) will be an important season for the fans. Think there is an important list of rider's to avoid. Freshening up is of huge importance. Iversen, Klindt, Cook, Kvech, Lawson are the few that shouldn't be in contention. obviously it's a huge ask but I'd like to see all the stops pulled out for a return of Robert Lambert. If they can, Fricke remaining also and try and get Lidsey as 3rd heatleader.1 point

Lawson might be available but I think bridges were probably burned there. Could see Klindt coming back but I think we probably need to move away from former riders and freshen up.1 point

Maybe they are, but may not want to announce they are in talks, as would be a big let down if talks fail. Best way would say what they have, then at promotors conference announce a deal is done to big applause 😜1 point

Dog rubbish on the centre green brought speedway back to Cradley Heath ! Local Cradley football team "The Lukes " had Dudley Wood Stadium for their home ground in the '50s but regularly had to complain to the owners about the mess. . When one player slipped and fell on it and broke his leg it was the last straw. The team withdrew. With just one sport, - dogs - the stadium didn't pay: it needed 2 sports to be viable, so speedway was brought back in 1960 (after a one-off trial mtg in '59.) https://speedwaychampions.yolasite.com/ https://www.speedway-sa.com/1 point

Was speaking to some Marske United fans at the Workington Reds game this afternoon - they had driven over via the A66 and said the journey was fine. If possible traffic delays are to be added to the ever growing list of reasons for cancelling a fixture the sport may as well shut up shop now!1 point

Did you not get asked to sit down by some old dear because she couldn't see, and had been sat in that same seat for over 60 years?...😁1 point

My first ever trip to Poland was in 2010 when myself and spin king junior went to Zielona Gora v Unia Leszno. We were located in Sektor K where everything goes off.We were taught very briefly by the fanatics "Tanczymzy Labado Kibice" I think there were approx 17,000 crammed in https://www.tiktok.com/@cws_cyfrowewiadomosci/video/7492546890572107030 On leaving Wroclawska 69 SKJ got a wiff of tear gas up his nostrils🫣 An unforgettable intoduction to Polish speedway1 point

When you realise this is his first step up, to go straight into Ekstraliga at 16, he is doing well and very competitive.1 point

Personally I think it is crackers that a team so cut adrift at the bottom of the league are still in with a chance to stay up... Especially as their opponents can be just a couple of injuries away from disaster... However, it does mean plenty of jeapordy and has serious consequences, so it does tick plenty of boxes that a team sport needs to tick... Hopefully two massive crowds and a great watch...1 point

but you will never beat seeing it live, in the stadium. but I'm sure the atmosphere in your lounge will be electric..😁1 point

Play offs for a league of just six is pathetic. At very worst it should have been first vs second over two legs or maybe even second vs third with the winner playing the team that came top. No team who finishes in the bottom half of a table whether that’s 4 in 6 or 11th in a league of 20 should have a crack at being league champions. Total mockery of the sport.1 point

I bought a “late season ticket” for £100 for 5 meetings. When they postponed the last match (weather was fine) and rearranged for this week I knew I couldn’t go as I travelled to Gorzow. I emailed them saying it was pointless me buying the season ticket, they responded with “you have still saved some money and we will give you a programme”. They were hinting that I’ve still saved £5. Then two days later they wrote they are giving a discount of £5 to that match, bearing in mind I actually never want a programme, so I basically am no better off, which isn’t the end of the world and I’m not that fussed. What it did show me is that season tickets are pointless in speedway because one or two rain offs and if you can’t make the re runs then you don’t save any more. I’ll never invest in another season ticket again in this sport.1 point

People need to drop the idea of hosting any important meeting at Belle Vue. I have seen people suggesting every important meeting in the British calendar should be held there. The crowds for second tier pairs, fours or riders championships there would be rubbish.1 point
-
Belle Vue for the pairs would not draw much of a crowd, it needs to be at a PL track to make it financially viable. A reasonable turn out last night considering the weather conditions.1 point

Bought the stream and quite their enjoyed the coverage. Felt a bit sorry for the person sorting out the graphics not knowing who was going where at the gate, even more so when Edinburgh went rogue with helmet colours! Charles Wright whilst exciting, was in my view over-riding. Oxford excellent all night.1 point

Baffling why riders don't ride as a pair sometimes in meetings like this. Seen it so many times over the years, instead of team riding and settling for a heat advantage their ego gets the better of them and they end up costing their team.1 point
