  1. Good to hear Coleman addressing the supporters at the end as well. Again dangling the carrot of things being much better next year and exciting times ahead at Foxhall. He can certainly talk the talk, and he deserves the chance to walk the walk. Grateful that he stepped in personally and gave us speedway again this year.

  2. The meeting the other week against Sheffield was very good, some excellent racing with lots of passing. But most of the riders were having a whinge on both sides that the track was “tricky to ride” and they were struggling a bit with it. Tonight most of the riders were praising the track because it was smooth and easy to ride, but was serving up next to no entertainment to the supporters. Give me the track like it was against Sheffield and tell them to get on with it!

  3. After giving Leicester the 💷 to throw a meeting it nice to see Belle Vue bury the old hags in embarrassing style 😛

  4. He thanked the supporters & the sponsors for sticking by them this year. After the take over they asked for people to stick by them & not judge them on 26. He thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart for doing that. acknowledged that the performance last night wasn’t good good enough but he would avenge that next year. Exciting plans are in place for next season however as yet he isn’t able to share & they have been working on those plans for some time. Thats what I like about him several times this year he has publicly engaged with the supporters. The guy is a breath of fresh air. Personally as for next year I’d take Toby back in two minds about Tom part of me thinks he is a bargain on his average, the other parts isn’t so sure. As for Danny again on the fence had a very good season however could be a risk on his average if the league is stronger. If the points limit stays the same again his average might go against him. Id also personally try & get scott involved as team manager.

  5. Mayfield should test the waters with Freddie Lindgren. Swedish tyre situation and the possibility of no GP's could open up an opportunity imo.

  6. Wasn't always going to win it. Didn't see anyone put belle vue as winning the whole thing. No one expected tate and norick to improve, also peter done way more than expected.

  7. When he rode for the Aces, I always had a "Steve Worrall" feeling to Tom.. ie There is a very good rider in there, but "something" will prevent him consistently reaching that international level... The pressure to perform when he has to step up seems to be the challenge for him... Birmingham had pretty much zero pressure given they were so poor, which I think reflected in his riding.... And at both the Aces and at Ipswich he has had two genuine World Class riders keeping pressure off him.. I watched him in Sweden last season against the larger number of top riders over there, and he definitely started to look more aggressive on the bike, and in one race pushed Zmarzlik out of contention in a race with a very robust manoeuvre.. Then he got badly injured pre season which I think has (as you could expect), dropped him back a bit this year... A big season for him next I would suggest as an indicator as to how his career will progress.. Will he just end up a solid UK rider, with maybe a 2nd or 3rd tier contract in Poland? Or will he become a consistent SEC or even GP performer over the next few years, with a top tier Polish contract..?. I think any team would want him if they can get two top level riders at One and Five, and Ipswich should be in the box seat for that, given they will want to take advantage of this seasons average..

  8. I saw some of the action from the Sheffield meeting in Luke Killeen's Vlog, and it was clear you couldn't just "howl" into the bends at full gas, sideways blocking the track, meaning the rider behind couldn't pass, but just did the same thing... Meaning, as often happens at most tracks, four riders in procession, equidistant apart... From the action I watched in the Sheffield match, the riders had to go around the bends more circumspect given the level of grip they were getting, hence more mistakes and opportunities were available to be had... Hence, the racing was decent... With so little actually riding on the outcome of a any UK Speedway meeting, you would think the promoters would 100% focus on ensuring that the actual entertainment level, both on and off track, encourages people to keep attending wouldn't you...?

  9. And their in lies the problem, one of the commentators made me laugh late on when he said one of the riders was moving out into the deep stuff to try and make a pass, what deep stuff, it was as slick as it could be, even Doyle said it was really smooth, all you had to do was make a start. A complete and utter pants of a meeting.

  10. I believe we have had 14 meetings this season. Quite shocking when we used to have nearly 30. What I want to know is with all these defunct teams wanting to come back, where are we getting the riders from? And even if we get riders from abroad, how the hell are most clubs going to pay them on pitiful gates.

  11. Allen blocks Scott, costing him second. Edwards gets in Wright’s way, delaying him having any impact on the Pirates in heat 13 and in heat 14, Lambert failing miserably to pass Newman who was essentially standing still, having already gone from second and on a 5-1 to last in his previous heat. Self-harming from Redcar here.

  12. And given how good he was around Monmore, he would revel at Ipswich.

  13. Poole have said they are 'hopeful' that Slater is fit to return for the 2nd leg! Personally, if the badly-gashed hand is bad enough to keep him out tonight then I can't see it improving sufficiently for him to be fit tomorrow?! But we'll see..........

  14. Sorry, that's not really the true facts. Referee's report said "Medical Officer's clarification to referee, as helmet was cracked: Lightcap showed no signs of concussion" So if he recovers from the reported finger injury .......

  15. I think Mike makes a very good point here. Tom's best seasons have come when he's had no pressure on him. It was the same when he first joined Ipswich, We had Emil and Doyley taking the pressure off everyone else in the side.

  16. I 100% would stick by Brennan. He was a massive part of our premiership winning team in 2025. He had the 13th best average in the 2nd polish league in 2025 (just under 8.00). He scored 10 points in the European championship round 2 this year. Beating Dudek, Jepsen Jensen and Michelsen at points in the night. His situation this year was difficult, pushed into number 1 at Ipswich and being dumped from Bydgoszcz after scoring 9+1, 6, 6+1 in his first 3 rounds. Also some riders just have bad seasons every now and then. He's still got 2-3 years before most riders reach their prime, he comes in on a nice average and has experience of racing against top riders. Finally, letting a rider go to a direct rival on a nice average is really not a good idea. I don't want to see him score big in the 2027 playoffs for Belle Vue.

  17. This is a familiar tale in speedway unfortunately. The best racing is often when riders have no idea which line is fastest or the track takes a bit of thought to ride and of course riders generally dont like that.

  18. Surprised at the field, thought Woffy would've used his "celebrity status" to bring some top riders over, especially ones who don't race in GB to boost the crowd?

  19. The first thing we need to sort out in 2027 is we need to get the fun factor back into British speedway, it is sadly lacking in modern speedway and fans (those left ) feel it

  21. Great comeback from Pirates. Would have taken a 12 point defeat at the halfway stage but the boys showed pure grit to claw it back nd it would have been closer had Lawson chain not sent fireworks into the night sky in heat 15. Should make an exciting meeting tomorrow night. Pirates slight favourites.

  22. Having a 12 point lead at one stage and needing to maintain that or build up even more. They have now gaffed it and it’s Pooles now for the taking

  23. Why not plymouth and Berwick do has very little if any impact on crowd numbers imo. Supporters will always prefer live speedway

  24. Agree, I think Kim Nilsson qualifying is a negative for Lindgren's chances of a wildcard. 5 Man Teams in Denmark and no guarantee of starts could also sway riders decisions.

  28. Think this was the reason not on terrestial tv as I think they know the teams are so mismatched this year and wouldn't be good viewing to promote the sport. Not an unexpected result and don't expect to see many passes next week in the return leg watched by one man and his dog as it's a forgone conclusion. Belle Vue were always going to win it this year and only injuries would stop them, but they got a more than adequate replacement in Doyle for Bewley.

  30. I highlighted the point about Scotty as TM last night as well, The more I think about it, The more I like the idea tbh. Has the respect of his fellow pro's, Knows the Club and British Speedway inside out and I can't think of anyone better to help bring on younger team members with his knowledge and experience tbh.

  31. The trouble with uk speedway is clear and simple. The toys are too expensive and we no longer have the boys to play with them.

  32. Kevin and Jan up already done Edinburgh and another final lined up. Then back south tomorrow for second leg. Just had free breakfast in McDonald's. Others look on in envy.

  33. Might not be in our hands anyway re Brennan. After a pretty disastrous year he may decide a change of scenery and a fresh start maybe his best bet.

  35. As said expected result … Kurtz can gate race over Shows how far Ipswich have fallen from absolutely destroying a stronger Belle Vue last season Emil replaced by Lawson Dan T replaced by Nicholls Ellis replaced by KJP The only change that worked a bit was Tobi for Doyle The other 3 changes were so much weaker Hopefully plans are afoot for a much better team next season and I hope that Lawson never rides for us again Belle Vue can only beat what’s in front of them but this has been the most one sided boring season since we won it in 1998 Last season all 4 teams had a realistic chance if winning This season only one team can win it and it’s been dull as you like

  36. The Aces deserve the win, the Witches are a shadow of what they used to be and this is not what the play offs were meant to be about, the climax to an exciting campaign of racing but not what you have on show today. No wonder the punters have left in droves and thankfully terrestrial t v is not showing this live or otherwise. Excuses will be forthcoming but frankly memories of what use to be far outweigh what is served up now with a piss poor league and too many outside factors influencing the quality of league racing. It is not entertainment it is an endurance test.

  40. I wasn't there but saw it on World of Sport. I have never seen a replay of it, although I did see an advert for a DVD on 70s speedway and it showed about 2 seconds of it. Even that traumatised me!

  42. I can only echo everyone else’s comment. A true sportsman in every sense of the word . Like Broady, Briggo and Super Simmo Martin didn’t need a race jacket because you could always tell him by his unique style , except that he was super-tidy on the bike. A natural talent.

  43. Absolutely mate, they need to learn to work together, I believe dean has been impressed with the speedway this season, and it’s all thanks to him that we even have a speedway team at Northampton, and to be honest there has been speedway after stock cars throughout the summer, I just think the rain didn’t help matters

  44. I see the usual eejit from Ipswich is spewing forth again about how desperate he is for Glasgow to race in the Premiership next season. I believe I speak for the majority of Glasgow fans when I say "thanks but no thanks". Once again they are ignoring that Glasgow fans don't want mid week racing, they want Friday nights. We also get a healthy crowd of kids as it's a non school night (yes there was a poll before any fixed race nights and Friday nights were top by a distance hence the Facennas fighting to get Friday night racing). You would also lose all of the local(ish) rivalries that bump up crowd levels for those fixtures. Glasgow v Edinburgh is an easy sell to people in either city in anything. Glasgow v Ipswich? Meh, not so much. And way less Ipswich fans would travel up midweek than Edinburgh fans on a Friday Yes, I'm picking on Ipswich (as it is some of their fans that seem desperate to ruin Glasgow speedway) but to be honest if Glasgow ran in the Premiership in 2026 there would have been no 'stand out' fixture in the calendar, none that you circle at the start of the year saying I must make sure to see that one. No derby and no rivalry. Having seen the odd international match, GP qualifiers etc there is nothing that we're missing out on in terms of racing quality either. As for not seeing Leon Flint or Dan T in the Championship, I think I might be seeing them a fair bit next year, but we'll see what happens over the silly season.

  45. If only there had been a fantastic summer of hot, cloudless, evenings to run Speedway... And a plan to get the cup comps sorted early in the season...

  46. I remember 3-4 seasons back a picture of young Ashton Boughton with something like 6-7 bikes in the background ready for the season and this was a lad starting out who was at reserve.

  47. Lawson gets grief for either being late or just on time, and for bikes not being spotless.. Yet holds down a full time job and has a young family... When the sport was in its halcyon days the minority were full time professionals, with the majority seeing Speedway as a very decent second income, with many able to earn in one night of Speedway what they earned for a week in their "main job".. Nowadays we have reserves trying to be full time professionals... It's total madness from a business and operating plan perspective.. Especially as winning any of the comps has no real value or worth...

  48. Absolute speedway heritage. You can't have a simple opinion on the sport without first having been a rider/promoter/organiser/anyone of any self-perceived importance (delete as applicable). The guy makes a perfectly reasonable point. In fact, they don't even criticise the line up, just that they're disappointed it's not better. This is basically a farewell to one of Britain's best ever riders, I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected a better line up - regardless of whether you're running the meeting, the burger van, or nothing at all.

  49. I can only speak for myself, obviously, but Speedway is pretty much off my radar now apart from the Grand Prix - and my interest in that is nowhere near the level it once was. The two main reasons with me are pretty basic. 1 - I'm a Swindon fan. I don't have a team any more. This probably applies to fans of many of the once great sides like Coventry, Wolves, Reading, Cradley, Eastbourne, Hackney, Exeter, Arena-Essex blah blah blah. 2 - League racing is no longer on TNT/BT/Discovery or whatever you want to call it this week - so I have absolutely no idea whatsover what is happening any more. I don't even know who is doing well the league any more.
