If the SCB have a picture confirming the back wheel did actually go over the line, I also think Scunthorpe should be handed the trophy, it just seems a hollow victory now10 points
-
Isn't it refreshing to have had these two matches, each with packed stadiums, and no back-biting or moaning from any direction? Two big -- huge, by today's standards -- travelling supports, no complaints about refereeing or accusations about team tactics, just great backing for their riders and appreciation for the opposition. Well done everybody!10 points

In Speedway the line belongs to the infield - on the line is off the track and should result in exclusion5 points
-
Perhaps all tracks should have a curb around the inside of the track, would stop any wheels going over the line5 points

I think the SCB have poured fuel on the flames of this debate unnecessarily. It is clear from what they say that they considered the interpretation of the said law before deciding it had been breached. Why not just say that the rule contained a degree of ambiguity and undertake to define it better going forward. That would at least give the referee some justification for making the decision that he did. As it is they have implied, at least, that the referee made a clear mistake but the rules don't allow a retrospective change in the result. The referee will now be pilloried when in fact inherent in the SCB statement is the fact that they had to review the rule before reaching the decision that a breach occurred. The upshot now is that (apart from Poole supporters) there will forever be a massive asterisk against who was the 2026 Championship League Champion.5 points

They’re the best team in the league and finished well ahead of my beloved Lions in the regular season. We all love the play offs, but the team finishing top of the pile when everyone has played everyone really ought to be champions. That goes for any sport.5 points

His back wheel breached the inside of the white line...the edge next to the shale, he doesnt have to be fully over, its not football4 points

Having to log back in seven times was somewhat annoying ..😁 Luckily I only missed two laps of a race (Ht13), and the Aces were on a 5-1 when I logged back in!! The coverage is good though, and I get many more than expected bought the stream, (me being one), so hopefully they will sort out the issue going forward.. The racing, for Sheffield, was ok, it's just a shame the track is so narrow on the bends given the speed they hit them.. It looked like a very decent crowd, which shows, once again, that there is a following for Speedway if the product makes it worth attending... The NSS will have 3,000 plus there on Friday, me and my lad being two of them now, yet at least 1500 of us won't have regularly attended all season.. Make the product credible, give it some jeopardy and consequence, add in a wider variety of teams, and those 1500 or so would attend far more often.. Especially if you open your doors, often, during the warmer, drier, months!!3 points

Seems very strange as Godfrey has a position in all three parties….promoter of Scunthorpe, BSPL chairman and their liaison officer with the SCB ! On that basis alone why did they put in a protest ? You think Vatcher or someone in the SCB office ( is there anyone else ? ) would have advised him it was a waste of time thus making this press release even more absurd.2 points

Zischke is going to be busy next year riding for Glasgow, Workington and Scunthorpe 🤣2 points

I don't know if the modern rule book says anything about curb height but there used to be something about a maximum height it could be, so that the front wheel could safely cross it without causing an accident.2 points
-
I agree don’t think they should allow front wheel over the line. That’s what the line is there for, it’s the inside of the track.2 points
-
I absolutely agree with you. The regulation as written is completely ambiguous - as demonstrated by numerous different interpretations on here. The SCB had a perfect chance here to explain its own interpretation, and to provide the evidence to support it. It has even had to update its own news release to change 'admissable' to 'inadmissable' regarding the appeal. Wholly unsatisfactory in all respects2 points
-
Quite agree, tonight he was very poor, top rider in the championship but not in the premiership and did not seem that bothered, when the camera was on him in the pits he was on his mobile joking, this is not the attitude of a team captain, he should of been finding out why he was too slow to pass Tate.2 points

The Google search definitions are very clear but I've still yet to see where they are officially written within the SCB rule book. Nobody has yet pointed me in the right direction. The SCB statement says "having reviewed the regulation as written, this has been breached. Well okay, reviewed against what, by who and where's the evidence? Did someone at the SCB Google it too? Because as far as I can see, the rules 'as written' are subjective in interpretation. I'm not saying it's wrong, but I can't see anything to back it up. The Google search quoted says "according to SCB regulations the white line is technically Part of the infield and defines the precise racing boundary as where the dirt meets the outer edge of the white paint. Where do the SCB regulations state this? And why does it say 'formula scout' after it? At the end of the day, I have no axe to grind either way. To be honest, towards the end of it, Scunny had won me over with their tenacity and I wouldn't have been upset if they'd won, but when people are saying that this vague SCB statement is proof or make it a fact that the rule was breached, I'd like to see the proof. I'm looking forward to this week's Star. I hope they can put more meat on the bones.2 points

Sadly for Sheffield fans Pickering talking the talk but not walking the walk when it comes to rising against world class riders like Kurtz and Doyle, he has a massively inflated average due to big home scores against weaker opposition. In the 3 plays off meetings to date he has scored 17 points from 14 rides so 4.85 average extremely poor from a number 5 with a GSA or 8.25, wasn’t the only one not riding to their average but sticks out more than the rest Congratulations to Belle Vue dominated the league and fully deserve their play off win celebrations on Friday2 points

Congratulations Scunthorpe the true champions this year, the fords, middleditch and havelock should get together and hand that trophy to Scunthorpe, the real Poole fans would accept it,who would to be the owner/ manager of a team which just aren’t the winners, the referee should get a horrendously long ban as well1 point

I understand that could be the interpretation, but show me where it actually says that in the regs.1 point

But switched to a British licence as the German Federation wouldn't nominate him in the GP qualifiers when he needed it Have cake and eat it comes to mind....1 point

You'll never know if it would have been easier. R/R was only available to Blödorn and the reserves. If the Aces had then had other problems on the night, they could have been stretched unnecessarily. As it is, Zischke was able to take two extra rides (in place of Cairns and McDiarmid).1 point
-
All the SCB needed to do was: - make clear its interpretation of the regulations ( eg what it determines crossing to be) - say what the ref considered and why that was wrong - publish any video evidence it has relied upon. Instead, all it has done is create even more discussion, not helped by its typographical error when it first published the news item ( by including the term 'admissable' instead of 'inadmissable' regarding any appeal.1 point

Who actually saying Jenkins won’t be at Berwick then as there going to need a re shuffle now Kildemand has retired. On the subject of Jenkins vs Newman I’d have Jenkins much better all round scorer, from memory Newman hasn’t done much away from home and feel Jenkins would be better in away matches.1 point

Well done Arthur54 not Poole's fault but no kudos for winning the play-offs now. However Poole did finish top of the league1 point

Can see Cairns as Ipswich u21 rider his dad been in Coleman’s ear quite a bit, heard yesterday that Premiership will be using a revised Rising Star list, rider can’t have had a Premiership average of over 3.5 so that narrows the pot ridiculously to the likes of Hodder, Pjiper etc1 point

Someone on here did mention rumour of BSPL possibly chipping in for a bit of Lamberts contract, I reckon if he does come back it will be Ippo with the UK Gp being held there in 2027.1 point

Possibly more Guy offering a better deal than Buster assuming he's back helping Ippo in 2027, Buster isn't short of a quid it all comes down to if he's willing to dip into his retirement pot.1 point

I wouldn’t feel too sorry for them because the stream kept crashing early on due to the sheer number of viewers.1 point

Relieved I went with my head and not my heart and didn't sign up for the two legged BSN special. I feel sorry for BSN as the Premiership product doesn't do them justice. Championship speedway far more entertaining.1 point

Hopefully, we get, at least, seven teams with around ten GP riders involved... Tonight showed, unfortunately, the difference between the top level lads, and the young kids who really shouldn't be exposed to to that level, yet... As the crowd tonight showed, there is enough followers of the sport... You just need to make the sport something that people can get engaged enough with for several months..1 point

to be honest, its not motivating me to want to go anymore, not got the rush i used to have, looking forward to different teams, riders, etc. will have too see what happens through the winter, but i dont expect much change.1 point

Should be easier these days as well with the increased numbers of replays available.1 point

Yeah, but they say that includes being on the white line, which no one disputed. Just that some of us thought you could have rear wheel on the white line and not be excluded. Only both fully over. Now the rule has been cleared up, that's fair enough. No argument from me. Definitely got away with two decisions!1 point

So it’s now fact that he crossed the line so the Poole clowns who said he didn’t can shut the hell up Disastrous for British speedway total incompetence in both legs This league title will have an asterisk next to it1 point

Flint's rolling away average is 8.00 and was only bettered by six riders who did the whole 2026 season. I'd also argue that he still has improvement in him too.1 point

also from google.... The Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) Regulations define the "white line" itself as the official boundary of the infield. [1] The rule book phrases it with strict technical phrasing under two specific rules that work together: The Infield Line Definition (Rule 05.1.4a): It states there must be "a continuous line to define the inner edge of the track circuit." The SCB formally interprets this white painted line as being part of the infield itself, meaning the precise "inner edge" of the racing track is exactly where the dirt track meets the outer edge of the white paint. [1] The Point of Disqualification (Rule 012.1.11): Because the white line counts as the infield, the regulations do not require a tyre to cross 100% over the line to be in breach. The rule strictly penalizes "a rider whose machine crosses the inner edge of the track with 2 wheels." [1, 2] In practice during a referee review, if any part of the tyre tread simply touches the painted surface of the white line, that wheel is legally deemed to have left the track. If both tyres touch or cross onto that white paint during a corner, it triggers an immediate red light disqualification, unless the safety or crowding exemptions apply. [1, 2]1 point

I'm not adding it - I'm using it to help you understand what crossing a white line means. I have no comment on any tyre warming for the simple reason that I have no idea what that is all about. I never watched either match. I just looked at the photo on the Scunthorpe website after reading the comments here. Let's see if Google can help. Ooh, look at that! Same analogy as me. Same word - "completely" - as me. And they are not even Poole fans. And neither am I.1 point
-
You have literally just explained why the rider should not have been excluded. If you cross a line, you are going over it, not touching it. The only logical explanation from that quoted rule is that the bike/tyre has to be completely over the line. that's what "crossing the line" means. Take football as an example. If the entire ball is not over the line then the ball is still in play. Same principal. Same with tennis. If the entire ball isn't over the line, it's still in. Congratulations to Poole Pirates on their legitimate title win. This has even less legs than Don King's "long count" invention when Mike Tyson got hammered by Buster Douglas. Anyone else got any other sporting examples to add to the "bad loser" file?1 point

I’m going to be as plain as I can be and try to be as unbiased as possible rule 012.1.11 a ride whose machine crosses the inner edge of the track with 2 wheels must be disqualified. 05.1.4 infield a) a continuous line to define the inner edge of the track circuit. now nowhere in the rule book does it say about crossing the white line with 100% of the wheel, ok that’s fact also the white line is the infield (as confirmed by the SCB )so if at any point the rear tyre touches it then that is a disqualification. the inner edge of the track is where the track meets the white line, so anyone who has stated he was on the line has backed my argument.1 point
