Who Should Be In Gb World Cup Team?
Bagpuss replied to bri1966's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Two spots up for grabs for six riders IMO, as Howarth isn't yet at the required standard and Auty never will be. I'd probably go for Cook and King but you could make a case for any of those six. -

Assuming Nicholls sticks to his guns then Woffinden Harris Cook plus one from King, Barker and Worrall. -
Somerset Cases Rebels V Edinburgh 11/06

Put Somerset in the EL and meetings at the OTA would be just as good. It's the track responsible for the racing rather than the league. -

Plenty of rolling tonight including the Rebels riders Starman so probably not a great idea to pick out individuals. -

Excellent meeting with a bit of everything, in particular some very good racing. Great ride by Cook in heat 15, he was the class act of the night for me so fitting that he sewed things up. Fricke looks an excellent prospect and I was also very impressed with Tabaka, great to watch. -

King's Lynn V Buxton 5th June 2013 7.30pm
Bagpuss replied to rhidassa's topic in National League Speedway
He made an awful start off gate one in heat 15 and then nearly came off entering lap two but it was still a stunning if expected debut. I was also very impressed with Lewis Rose who has improved ten fold since I last saw him, and how on earth has Charles Wright not got a PL place? He was excellent. -
Seems to me from reading his Facebook that the boy has agreed to ride in one or two meetings but in their eagerness to get bums on seats tomorrow night the club have buggered up the press release, peeing the Lamberts off in the process and probably jeopardising any future relationship between King's Lynn speedway and Robert Lambert. With the future of British Speedway as uncertain as it has ever been you can't blame Lambert for not rushing in and committing to one club, he has only just turned 15 and has time very much on his side. Not too concerned whether he ends up with the Stars in the future or not, just hope he rides in the right place to fulfill his potential and hopefully perform in the GP's one day like Woffinden is currently. I'm just happy to get the opportunity to see him racing competitively in the UK tomorrow night.

British GP 2013
Bagpuss replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I agree with the big fish bit, personally I think Cook is doing a year too many in the PL but to judge him on last night on such a gash track is harsh, there is no way he was giving it 100% and I don't blame him one bit for that. -

I thought Cook was taking it easy on a terrible track personally, riding with his head to stay in one piece. He's got bigger fish to fry this season. -
Gb V Australia - Ipswich 30th May
Bagpuss replied to 2ndbendbeerhut's topic in International World of Speedway
I'm sure he has patriality from two or three generations back......Lynn tried to bring him in on a three in 2010 before Newport signed him but the English relative was too far back and he started on five instead. -

These line ups are stronger than any PL side so charging PL makes it comparatively good value. If it wasn't for work etc I'd be coming down to see this. -

I don't understand why Screen is unhappy with the press release, it doesn't criticise any individuals or come across as unfair to me? -

Really enjoyed that meeting, well done to Berwick for putting on a good show and to Newcastle for their victory. Kennett should be getting a max with his eyes shut in that company. Good to see all the lads with King's Lynn connections doing well -

Edinburgh V Plymouth (pl) 17/5/13 @ 7.30pm
Bagpuss replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Exactly. Craig Cook is the best prospect we have, his improvement in the short time he has been riding has been dramatic and he could IMO be knocking on the GP door at some point and may even get his chance in the SWC this year. Next season he needs to be riding in Sweden, Poland, Denmark and wherever else he can against better riders on different tracks so he can improve even more. The likes of Barker, Stead, Kennett, Proctor and Doyle have all peaked IMO but Cook has not. I believe his time would be better spent riding in other leagues next season where he is going to be tested much more. -

Bagpuss replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This will surely be Cook's last season in the PL, can't see what good it does him to be scoring maximums or dropping just a point every Friday night at home. Needs to be riding abroad next year to further his education. -

Bagpuss replied to CardinalSin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So Tungate comfortably beats Josh G four times out of four at Lynn on Wednesday but can't beat him on his home PL track......seems he probably, like Ricky Wells, knows exactly which side his bread is buttered. -
Worrall added to Mallett and Kerr certainly gives the Young Stars some top end clout. Don't know an awful lot about Widman in all honesty but hopefully he and Rose can step up to the plate at reserve although of course its about development rather than winning every week IMO.

Kings Lynn Young Stars Vs Coventry Storm 8th May 7.30pm
Bagpuss replied to rhidassa's topic in National League Speedway
Thanks Lorna, will do Agree about the prospects within the Young Stars, Lewi Kerr could and probably will go very far but for me he's probably the only one. To answer Mike I'd say people may have gone to the Foxhole on Monday as it was a glorious bank holiday and tonight sees the World Champion at the EoES. Its a fact of sporting life that people are more inclined to pay to watch better quality competitors even if the entertainment isn't that great, like at Carrow Road this season -
Kings Lynn Young Stars Vs Coventry Storm 8th May 7.30pm
Bagpuss replied to rhidassa's topic in National League Speedway
I don't think its a problem confined to Lynn, there are other tracks such as Poole, Newport and probably Coventry themselves this year who struggle to get decent attendances for their junior side while also running a senior team. Also worth pointing out that Ipswich on Monday and P'boro tonight give people other options within an hour or so to get their speedway fix this week. I'll be there for the IOW fixture and hopefully the prospect of seeing Adam Ellis and a potential league winning team will see a few more turn up too. -
Kings Lynn Young Stars Vs Coventry Storm 8th May 7.30pm
Bagpuss replied to rhidassa's topic in National League Speedway
The withdrawal of Cockle seems to have swung the meeting Storm's way and good luck to them. Lewis Rose really needs to learn to stay aboard his steed as he is quick enough when upright. -
Trouble is you're not going to get many people forking out twice in three days for speedway or choosing the Youngs Star's meeting over the senior team. Hopefully there will be a few more present tomorrow evening
