  1. Having meetings at the weekend ie Friday, Saturday, Sunday should be able to attract a younger generation which is much needed, that is youngsters. School the next day must rob a load of youngsters from midweek meetings. Worth a shot. To encourage newcomers, give them a chance in a second half, no points or start money, it’s at their expense to get the experience, perhaps methanol provided foc.
  2. Surely there has to be a chance of British speedway tracks returning to a Saturday fixture day, now no international star rider will be riding in the Britain, the time has to be right. Any rider who does progress to the point he deems himself at the point he needs international experience to progress to “greatness” ,well, he will just have to leave Britain to make that progress. It get Saturday racing back if that’s what the need is for British speedway to prosper again. I always uses to go to BV on a Saturday, never been when it was a Friday.
  3. I can just about remember seeing Ken ride. Another sad loss.
  4. But the vac rollout is scheduled to finish in autumn. If I was you get ready to be disappointed, no Speedway until late in the year, maybe non like last year (except for a few events). BSPA should be planning for different scenarios including full season and a very short season. If it’s a short season meaning meetings twice a week, are people going to be able to afford £20 plus per meeting? Streaming will be a necessity, with £8 max, but Speedway promoted to encourage more viewers.
  5. Thanks for the link Bavarian. Very welcome on a cold foggy morning in north Cheshire. Nice smooth track. Interesting floating start gate, has a safety advantage of no uprights on the inside ot outside of the track.
  6. Can we go back to the days of lower revving engines, maybe even upright engines, 2 or 4 valves I dont mind, but anything but these rocket ships which the top riders can handle but someone at the lower end cant. for sure I understand all riders probably start out wanting to be world champion one day, but very few get anywhere near world class status. So lets have entertainment relevant to where Britain is at. Maybe British speedway would eventually loose any youngster making it up the ladder toward world class ie Lambet and Bewley, but its such a few, Britain will just have to put up with it. Lower cost racing could attract more into the sport, would incur lower costs overall, leading tolower entry fees, potentially bigger crowds. Make it entertaining for families too.
  7. Justgotmecpc, but COVID isn’t just spread by airborne, there is touch problems as well. So if someone stays locked down at home, COVID could come into the home via deliveries of food or other things. That’s why after one of us has been shopping, or receiving mail through the post etc we wash hands.
  8. But in the uk over 1000 died of COVID-19 on Tuesday, uk, a place with social distancing rules. So are you saying COVID spreads when social distancing, and doesn’t when you mix. It was predicted in their the figures would jump up over the Xmas period on the uk, and they have. The opening round of F1 is in Aussie 3rd week in March, Melbourne, and they considering cancelling it. Perhaps Hamilton and co should take up tennis.
  9. Talks suggest F1 first meeting in Aussie in March will be cancelled Due to Covid. That will be the second year running.
  10. If you read the Bible, the star that led the 3 wise men, kings, astrologists, from the East, was not visible when Jesus was born, it was some time later when Jesus was an infant. So, actually the star was very much later then December 24th, does that imply the Speedway Star will be that much late too. Hopefully not!
  11. The initial ones did not open, the last one did.
  12. I paid £3 for a shrub to travel from Norfolk to Chester...... 8 days. Some deliveries are good, some not so, even after paying a few quid.
  13. Sad to hear this news, especially so as he was only 67, much too young to go. A great entertainer, always looked forward to see him ride.
  14. Going to get worse, silly season called Christmas on the way, can you just imagine another increase in volume through delivery systems in general.
  15. Royal Mail is like all other delivery companies these days, they are all under extreme pressure due to increased volume due to the lockdown. Many delivery businesses have increased demand, which in one way is a positive, but they all have staff who are human and suffer from this pandemic same as the rest of the population. Some workers will belong to families who have a vulnerable member, so isolation kicks in. Some will have fallen foul to COVID itself. I been waiting for a relatively small parcel to be delivered for about 10 days now, haven’t got a clue who is delivering it, but there is not a lot I can do but be patient and wait. Not having the Speedway Star for a few days is not anything to throw the dummy out of the pram about. Bigger crisis in many lives going on. Get over it.
  16. Well that really good to hear. Whether one doesn’t like masks and keeping distance as recommended, or not, those who object should respect others who want to comply. We seen crowded pubs (inside and outside) which then leads to tighter restrictions, spoiling it for all those who do comply.
  17. It’s a max of 4000 spectators or 50% of capacity whichever is lower. So if stadium capacity is 4000 only 2000 allowed. I not convinced too many of supporters from BSF will conform to safety precautions that may be involved ie masks, social distancing. Irresponsible action could well scupper bringing speedway back.
  18. Ah, love dogs but cats are the best. 10 years ago we moved from Warrington, where we live now near Chester we could take the two cats we then had (usually had three at a time) but when they died we couldn’t replace them. Long time since gone and don half miss them.
  19. Well, I live near Warrington, probably 15 mile from Daresbury, but, I don’t have a dog.
  20. There wouldnt be many there bex=cause of the covid-19 rules. This shouldnt detract from the fact Wilkie was a popular guy.
  21. I ffully understand what is being said, and it is interesting to see what goes on in the pits, but, re NSS, bends 3/4 left open proved its worth in the world cup of 2016 when extra stands were temprary erected. That would not have been possible if the pits would have been there. What tends to be forgot is that whilst NSS is a brand new stadium, the land built on had physical restraints that the whole comples had to fit in - the space was non-expandable.
  22. So Eurosport has the contract but they going out to tender for a TV company to actually air the meetings. Is that right?????
