Cut off date for play-offs?
IronScorpion replied to eric i's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
That is how I originally saw the fixture list some time ago, probably June , July time, giving approximately 6 weeks for the play offs to be sorted. Now, KOC meetings are being finalised but, also, have seen that play off meetings will take priority over outstanding league fixtures. Before anyone says otherwise, this is not the fault of the BSP Ltd or SCB but the fault of promoters in not trying enough on alternative race days. Every year this happens & I know we started late because of covid & restrictions but pull your fingers out for the sake of the fans & British Speedway in general. -
....... and they are carrying injuries & did not race last night.

Peterborough Panthers 2021
IronScorpion replied to Noodles's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A team built with the "golden oldies", no top rider but al of a similar average which has continued throughout the season. Ostergaard had a majestic spell at reserve, propelling him to no1. Harris moved down, just by hundredths of a decibel point over Nicholls, & now Andersen. -
Arrange the fixtures so there is a spare week every month so teams can re-arrange cancelled fixtures, weather permitting of course.

covid reaction, isolation, family issues, mental issues, visa problems, sudden illness are all excuses but, seemingly, hard to prove wrong.

Barker for Aarnio, r/r for Palin & Summers for Morris was the last info I saw. Riding order ??????????? -
.It is an INDIVIDUAL event & he was not even wearing Sheffield kevlars, "glory boy" but he even races for Scunthorpe this year in the British Leagues. But , I agree, well deserved & I was there to see it. Even Swindon, Birmingham, Lakeside, Eastbourne, Poole, Ipswich & IOW could claim a bit in his progression, not including the foreign clubs.

A safe & speedy recovery to our ex Scorpion Stefan Nielsen which, by all accounts, sounds like another nasty one for him, possibly season ending. -

Is this another rider who has been threatened by the local mafia & will not turn up(aka Garrity) -
But they have re-declared putting Rowe in but it was a rider for rider swap with a lower average If they had done Kemp at the same time, it would be a different matter. Well done!

Plymouth v Newcastle Tuesday 31st August
IronScorpion replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
But when riders can go to court to fight a rule saying you could not drop down if your average was more than 6, and won, is a restraint of trade. How many more would fight the rules? The riders, nowadays, have too much power( barring refusal to ride if not getting paid) in track conditions whether too wet, unsafe at al. They can now cheat their employers & fans(Batchelor) by performing poorly to reduce their average so they can earn more riding in 2 leagues as he was not riding abroad. They then reduce their averages(as rides in play offs do not count) slightly, once their teams are in the guaranteed play off positions, to make them more employable the following year. -
In Manchester, they are demolishing the old Kirkmanshulme Road track, not sure who owns it, probably council, (I think speedway, dogs & stock cars used it) & that had a covenant on it but it has not taken long to change its use for housing & across the road, the old Showcase Cinema car park has been demolished( but for what use, I do not know).

I will say this once, twice & even more times from about 3 or 4 years ago that we have to make up our own model for team racing. 6 man teams Minimise double up/ down to 2 or 3 riders per team No guests from other teams Riders not chosen/declared in a team go into pool to be chosen as & when a team is short. Averages & RS(now) status used with riders only allowed to guest help out a team maximum 3 or 4 times.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It only states "initial declaration" & there is nothing in the rules that states that if you re-declare above your 38 point limit then your new 39 point limit applies & your rising star is reduced. Un written rules and grey area applied & does not matter if your promoter is the "Head Honcho"! (ALL IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF SPEEDWAY. OF COURSE) -
Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A bit of a grey area though steve as it only says " initial Declaration" in the rules so even though we re-declared using Ellis, could we still be allowed a 3* even though green sheets says otherwise. -
Scunthorpe Scorpions 2020
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
No, allowed up to a 2* as that is the minimum in the Championship(2* or lower for us since re declared). Aarnio is 3rd in averages so guest facility is available. -
With Josh Auty taking a sabbatical a few years ago for Scunthorpe saying his head & heart wasn't in it any more but subsequently changing his mind & got a 14 day ban (slated by all & sundry on here), usually 28 days for withholding services but halved due to returning for same club.

Leicester vs Plymouth 28 August 2021
IronScorpion replied to PowerfulPierre's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It seems similar to an incident in our meeting up at Edinburgh when R Worrall pulled a locker & TJ had nowhere to go but into him. TJ excluded for ( causing an incident, took no avoiding action, not applying brakes, riding too close) -

Eastbourne's riders are getting snapped up with Lawson, Kerr & Brennan already announced. On Friday's Redcar v Scunthorpe thread, it is saying Aarnio has a 9 day ban for non speedway related absence! This year, how many times has this been penalised where other related absences are down to, supposedly, covid(positive tests or isolation)? -
Leicester vs Plymouth 28 August 2021
IronScorpion replied to PowerfulPierre's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Haven't Eastbourne issued on their news/report feed that they were down to 5 riders, Kerr didn't think his engine would last another race at short notice & Lawson was already packing his gear away after (his view) being unfairly disqualified in heat 13 -
Redcar v Scunthorpe
IronScorpion replied to Norfolk Bear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was on the forum a few days ago that Lawson & Kennett had already left the club(probably due to unpaid wages) hence Lawson now announced this morning at Plymouth & it was also said that the other riders could find clubs after the official announcement, which was only yesterday so I expect any other moves to be made public Sunday or later.
