  1. Come on a bit since I last saw him, but Lawson apart, Berwick were dreadful.
  2. Peter Karger (absolutely hopeless on a sub 1 point average) rounding Sam Masters on bend 2 and hanging on for the win was probably the highlight of last season for me
  3. As from this weekend I'll be living 320 miles away from the only team I've supported since 1985. Unfortunately the closest away track will be Belle Vue, 200 miles away. Doesn't make me any less of a fan.
  4. So after all the build up and hype they produced what sounds like a poor advert for top flight speedway. Pretty pleased I'm sunning myself on holiday and missed it. So, who's next on BT Sport and when?
  5. Our last scheduled home meeting is on 28th August, so there will be minimal overlap between football & speedway.
  6. I think they're still learning. I didn't share the pre season over optimism of some and the relative ease of the first meeting win against Wolves probably didn't help. I'm a little disappointed that we haven't been able to pick up more away points, but this is a tough league and we've had teams strengthen just before we've visited. Crowds look to have held up pretty well. The promotion seem receptive to any problems that have cropped up and have looked to rectify them. We've seen some seemingly odd team decisions during meetings, but unless you know the thinking behind them it's easy to team manage from the terraces. Still a lot that needs to be done. The stadium renovations need to be completed and I'm not sure what happened to the training track idea.
  7. I only go to Cardiff for the social. Great chance to catch up with speedway buddies from all over the country. As for the event itself I can take it or leave it. I'd say ok is a measure of where we are so far. Of course an end of season push for the play offs is always a possibility, but with the team as it is I can't see us gaining enough away points to propel us up into the top four. Another one or two home defeats isn't out of the equation either. We've certainly not been disgraced so far.
  8. I reckon Alan Rossiter has a rather smug grin on his boat tonight
  9. I can't watch any sport as a neutral and enjoy it. As I tell everyone, I'm not a speedway fan, I'm a Rye House fan.
  10. I don't share your sense of enjoyment seeing my team lose. I'd rather it was a poor meeting and come away with the points
  11. Groundhog Day. Another point lost over the closing heats. From reports we got away lightly due to some BV machinery issues. Not sure what we're supposed to do now. A top four place looks unlikely. Do we just consolidate, or make a change or two for a late play off push? Gut instinct tells me the former. I'm not gonna knock individual riders as I wasn't there. Every other side has made changes, some even dropped riders that seemed to be doing ok. Professional speedway is a tough sport. Difficult decisions need to be made.
  12. About a 2 minute drive from Shielfield Park Cliffeboy. I may pop along to a few meetings, purely as a neutral. Once a Rocket always a Rocket
  13. You expect the Rye promoters to run a challenge meeting at a loss to please a couple of hundred Bees fans? Be realistic. With doubling up/down/sideways it's always gonna be difficult to arrange mid season challenge meetings. Gone are the days when massive crowds would turn up for these kind of events
  14. Why would the Rye House promotion run a challenge meeting with two of the top 3 missing? Would've probably made a loss on the night. Disappointing for the few Coventry supporters that had planned to travel, but best to vent your anger at the people who killed your club.
  15. As I said in my post, it doesn't affect me, When I return from holiday I'll be a resident of Berwick Upon Tweed.
  16. Going into a meaningless meeting without arguably your top two would've made it commercially unviable for the Rye House promotion, despite the few Coventry fans that would've made the journey down. It's not affecting me now, but the gap between meetings is becoming a joke. Rockets fans have become used to a regular Saturday evening fix. I know there have been rumblings of discontent regarding this.
  17. Doubt there will be any team changes unless there are long term injuries. First season in the top league was always gonna be consolidation. I never bought into the title favourite bolloxios on here and the Rye FB page. Play offs look doubtful and I predict maybe one or two more home defeats before the regular season ends. The promotion are still learning and need to think wisely during the winter as to the make up of next years side. Sentiment shouldn't play any part in it.
  18. Anyone who thinks certain riders don't lose on purpose is deluded. I heard a story about a PL number one who was looking to reduce his average for the following season. Five "engine failures", but the promoter paid as if it was a maximum. This was confirmed to me by the gentleman himself a few years later.
  19. If it's affecting his riding, he should be resting until the injury heals.
  20. Was at Swindon in 2011 on the Thursday before the Cardiff GP for an EL meeting with Poole. One pass in 15 heats. Tonight couldn't have been worse than that surely?
