  1. You won't see Rye win at Poole if you turn up next Friday
  2. Plumpton Road is an industrial area. There will be loads of parking there, only 2 minutes walk from the stadium and it'll also be easier to get away after the meeting. Last Monday was gridlocked getting out of the stadium car park
  3. It's not an easy one to answer. I believe social change has led to kids doing less and less outside. Plus the expense of it all. Lack of exposure on main stream TV means that fewer people know about speedway and go to watch it, let alone want to take it up. Interesting that the demise of West Indies cricket had much to do with Caribbean lads taking up basketball instead of wanting to be fast bowlers due to TV exposure and the dream of earning mega bucks in the NBA. Similar with the rise of footballers salaries over here, with kids dreaming of being millionaires taking them towards football and away from motor sports. All you need is a pair of boots. I recently heard of a rider selling a second hand engine for £2,500. Not many can afford that kind of expenditure.
  4. Rye House meetings are covered by T2TV
  5. And there was me thinking we were certs for the title... damn!!
  6. I suspect he would've scored more than the bloke who replaced him
  7. Agreed. He was gating and looked in control, apart from one fall when he fell under pressure from Scott Nicholls
  8. Not the best meeting on newly laid shale that became greasy mid meeting after a short shower. It'll take a little while for the team to get used to it I s'pose. Anyone who questions Wells inclusion for Watt had that answered today. Gotta say Bates not being in the Lions side helped us greatly.
  9. Danny King is class around Rye, poor form or not. Don't think I've seen Gomolski at Rye, but I've seen Hall there a few times. Can't remember him impressing much
  10. No post for this that I can see. Not as straightforward as it may seem. Looks like Leicester have strengthened. Not many easy Premiership meetings. Hard one to call, but I'd take a 7-10 point win. Weather forecast doesn't look great. Showers forecast from 1pm and on and off all afternoon. Let's hope the tracks in good nick. Afternoon meetings at Rye have a history of being particularly dull
  11. You weren't mentioned by name, but if the cap fits... Was a very rare visitor to the EL section when Rye were PL. I was aware of your reputation and was looking forward to some verbal jousting. Seems I was misinformed. At least Starman gives it some effort, even if he's made to look a fool most of the time.
  12. That's the one I was thinking of. Early season, so no panic. Not many will come away from Wolves with anything but their tails between their legs, especially now they've strengthened.
  13. The vast majority of speedway supporters only attend home meetings. As long as they see their team win on their own track they're usually pretty content. To think some were calling for Robbo to be replaced a couple of weeks ago. Let's not forget Poole were tonked at Wolves by 20 points around this time last year, ex world champ Holder scoring three duck eggs
  14. That's a very interesting point. Race times are irrelevant.
  15. Glad you didn't get lost again leaving Hoddesdon. Good to meet you. See you on a sliders track soon
  16. To be serious (for once) Trees, there weren't many complaints tonight. Even the Poole fans seemed to enjoy it. Rye House is what it is. A small track with tight bends. Not much you can do about it. Long gone are the days of 30 point home wins. You either adapt to it, or go home with an empty pay packet. Early indications are it's gonna be a tight league and tough to call. Isn't that what everyone wants?
  17. You're still miffed cos we beat you last week? Let it go woman. It's doing you no good
  18. I am and will for the few remaining weeks I'm down here. Could be worse. I could be a Berwick fan
  19. Sure, the track was a little slick right towards the end, but mostly it was good. Not like you have an agenda or anything. Keep knocking it though. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. And don't let the fact that the vast majority of races tonight were great to watch. Rockets fans are loving it.
  20. I'll admit I was the one of those who said PL racing was better than EL, but now it's been dumbed down slightly I've gotta call it as I see it. I was genuinely hard pressed to pick a winner in each race tonight.
  21. Hard to call any meeting so far this year. Even individual races I've seen in this league have been like that. Wasn't sure whether I was going to enjoy being in the top league, but so far I'm loving it.
