Poole 2026

Recommended Posts

Also lets not forget Bowes got injured in the winter, keeping him out of the Aussie Championships.

He has actually scored well in his first few meetings (5+1, 6+1, 8+1) but then only managed 3, 2+1 and 0 in his next 3 which included falls and mechanicals!

His average has gone from 5.63 t0 5.42, whereas Kyle Newman has gone from 4.82 to 4.98.

With Cooper Rushen getting a 'full' average in a week or so, I guess Kyle will be dropping to reserve!!

Kyle at reserve will be terrific, I am so pleased he is staying, always liked him, always gives his best for us.

The way Gilkes was speaking I don’t think he will be keen to line up for Poole anytime soon…..

Leicester showing loyalty to their rider even though the replacement became the second best rising star in the top flight

Poole immediately bin him and keep the replacement whose average has gone up a huge 0.16

Poole have history of being ruthless and showing zero loyalty …. Why not sign Newman at the start of the season if Poole were worried about Gilkes

Leicester would soon drop him if it cost them league points. They have 6 other riders on form, or 5 after Dan T got injured. They can carry him no probs.

We cant carry 2 in the top 5 that is the difference. As then you are asking Will and Cooper to be getting at least 6/7 points a meeting.

You really need to listen to MF's interview on solent at start of the season. Will answer a lot of your questions.

For one they said Dan could come back, Kyle could be an option if he did well or they could look somewhere else. So he was never 100% coming back if that was said just before season started.

They did sign Newman once they knew Gilkes wasn't ready

Exactly and if you look at what Gilkes said, he was disappointed but understood the reasoning. The facts are he was not fit at the start of the season, he has spent a lot of time and money trying to get fit but he turned up for his first meeting and scored one point so he clearly is not ready yet. From a Poole point of view, we got in a rider to cover for his absence who did very well, this rider is a Pirate through and through who has always given his all for us, to dump him for a not yet fit rider would be stupid. I feel sorry for Dan Gilkes but this is a sensible decision.

Funny how it’s only Poole that show zero loyalty…..No mention of Scunthorpes zero loyalty to Simon Lambert…but of course he didn’t ride for Poole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Scunthorpe could ever be accused of a lack of loyalty towards Sumon Lambert, too much if anything.

FWIW I don't think Poole have done anything wrong here, you can't drop a rider scoring as well as Newman has been.

I agree, Lambert has been shown too much loyalty. Poole have never been a club to keep an underperforming rider, we just got lucky with Newman, he has come in and done a job way above expectations, the form he is in he would have been picked up by someone else. It would have been crazy not to keep him. We all wish Dan Gilkes the best of luck this season with his respective clubs.
