Workington 2026

Recommended Posts

There's a big genny in the pits. The old track used to be connected to the grid via a pole mounted tranny, somewhere around the 4th bend. Unfortunately it burnt down some time ago. So the infrastructure has been there previously.

Yes a generator or 2 powers the existing electrics at the track, but to power lights, if installed, would need another generator, as we all know speedway in general, not only at worky, is not flush with money so how do you factor installing floodlights on top of running speedway costs ??  Also IF floodlights were at the stadium, what would the council elf and safety think of the access being in the dark ??   Not being negative I totally want the comets to succeed, but you can see what they are up against

Can't agree, there is obviously a power source already, track warning lights, etc, don't run on gas.

Forty years ago, Berrington Lough was totally self-contained and ran everything -- including floodlights -- by generator, which wasn't a huge one.  I'm certain things have moved on space since then, and you could power a stadium with a fairly compact generation unit

if the actual lights are LED lamps the power consumption will be fairly modest and a generator would run easily
