Ipswich Witches 2026

Chris Louis wont over pay what he thinks a rider is worth and the rumours are Leicester have offered Dan more then Ipi were prepared to pay, much the same as last yr when Rew was offered a better deal by Birmingham.

The parting of the ways between Ipswich and Rew last year certainly worked out better for Ipswich than it did for Rew.

Not surprised at all that Ipswich won't match Leicester's offer for Dan Thompson tbh.

Adam Ellis and Dan Thompson's GSA's are seperated by 0.05 and Adam Ellis is much better around Foxhall so if it's 36.00 for a Top 5 then it would've been a straight choice between the two riders anyway.

If that's the case then I agree with Ipswich here.  Rider costs/demands are helping British Speedway to go down the plughole.

Sounds like leicester just offered more than Ipswich just as simple as that.

It's all BSF rumours, I wouldn't take any notice of it...

Quite possibly, but if you look at last season's averages, Thompson's away average was 1.5 higher than at Foxhall where he struggled after his wrist injury.  There was a run of 5 meetings at no6 where he scored 2 in 4 of those meetings.....

He was quite open about his struggles at Foxhall and his body language wasn’t particularly great either towards the end. This was on the cards and as I said on another thread, a move away is the best for all parties here.

He’s been a great signing and done very well since he was recruited as rising star.

Wouldn't surprise me to see witches line up something like

Woffinden, Ellis, Rew, Nicholls, Doyle, Edwards & Jenkins

Wouldn’t that be good. Imagine the clubhouse after every home meeting with woffy on the decks banging the tunes and the f bombs out 😁

It's been mentioned on the Leicester thread that Dan was offered a really good sponsorship deal if he returned to Leicester but it was only available if he did so, and like been said he did seem to struggle around Foxhall after his injury and he gets around Leicester better as a home track so its a no brainer for him if that's the case.

I think it was known at that time that he had been made a 2026 offer elsewhere which would be hard to match....

Where I'm at.

TV Deal, 36.00 Limit for a Top 5 and One Rider Over 8.00 Rule.

1. D. Bewley 8.64

2. A. Ellis 5.92

3. T. Brennan 7.05

4. D. King 6.50 or K. Rew 6.19

5. J. Doyle 7.86

= 35.97 / 35.66

NO TV Deal, 36.00 Limit for a Top 6 and One Rider Over 8.00 Rule.

1. J. Doyle 7.86

2. S. Nicholls 5.25

3. K. Rew 6.19

4. A. Ellis 5.92

5. T. Brennan 7.05

6. J. Jenkins 3.46 (25% Discount)

7. J. Edwards (RS)

= 35.73

I'll go with

J Doyle           7.86
T Brennan       7.05
D King             6.50
K Rew              6.19
A Ellis              5.92
D Hume          3.48
J Edwards       R/S

I would swap Hume for Jenkins as he will get a 25% reduction for coming out of the RS scheme and if his final average is 4.61 would reduce to 3.45

Pretty sure Jordan Jenkins had his 25% reduction for coming out of the RS scheme in 2024, and you can only have it once even if your average drops you back into RS.  So he shouldn't get it again.

I see Dan as a level headed and smart guy. Not sure he would chase the money and seems to understand the importance of being at a well run and supportive club.
