If TTT leaves there will only be about eight of us rattling around in here.

@TTT is worth 8 of us though... I'm going to miss his posts on every clubs thread with his mock 1-7's 😉😂

My last reply to your burner account IainB as I have a life outside of this forum unlike yourself.

I'm mindful of the fact that you're clearly not a mentally well person so I'm going to be polite in my final reply.

I hope that you can seek the specialist help that you need in order to overcome your mental illness because it's clearly got a strong hold over your day-to-day life.

Kind regards

TTT

The club working very closely with Poland and taking advice on how to improve the track. Reps from Poland due in Uk soon to evaluate what can and can’t be done to improve racing. Finance not an issue.

Oh dear, slickfest here we come😁

Was my initial thought too 😂

Is that any worse than what we currently have where riders can't turn the bike? Dan T on his excellent vlog(which I love) said he retired from heat one for fear of injury so there has got to be something better than sacrificing the first few heats until the track settles down. It costs enough per heat as it is.

I’m not really sure you can change too much re the surface because of the clay content and the stocks? The conditions Dan was talking about was due to them buggering about with the track because of Dicksons demands despite him being told by those that actually know about track prep, that it would make things much worse. Perhaps they’ll look again at uprooting the drains and lowering the inside to create artificial banking that Louis was going to do before he shelved the idea due to costs involved. Who knows.

They need to try something because for whatever reason, the track has gotten worse this year and the entertainment almost non existent. It’s never been the NSS, but it’s been better than this.

Finally got round to listening to Mr Coleman on Chat SGP today, very impressive guy judging by that and not frightened to say it how it is about British speedway. Hopefully he keeps ruffling feathers and gets his ideas across.

Yes, in my view. It's only some riders who can't handle it/turn the bike - "up your skills mate, this is speedway!" I've seen nothing wrong with the track at all and it's an easy one to blame. If the fastest/best rider makes the start then there shouldn't be any passing. Years gone by lots of overtaking was due to rider errors/fear/less skill, now it's predominently only when the fast guy misses the start.

For the days of Siggy, Cowboy Cook and T Rick those lads could pull some moves.

The track has seen a few riders all over the place in the first 1-2 or 3 heats then they grade it and it settles down, Poor old Jason Edwards seems to struggle to get going in heat 2 which ideally is a race we want him and Kevin to win!

Siggy was my childhood idol. Can vividly remember crying all day long when he was forced to retire through his ankle injury! Was a serious threat to the Danish dominance of the 80’s before that incident. Beaten Nielsen in the run off of the most lucrative meeting ever allegedly at the time, the British Open in 82 which was the standard of the world final itself, then topped the British League averages on 10.99 in 83 and was on an upward trajectory.

Then came that accident in 84 that cut his career stone dead. We’ll obviously never know for sure but I’m convinced he would have stopped Nielsen and Gundersen from dominating the world Championship between them in the 80’s.

Siggy maybe , Kenny Carter definitely , would have stopped the Danish dominance. Until what happened, happened

Link to the interview Bagpuss was referring to. Really good listen.

Once again thats a very good interview and I’m more impressed every time I hear him speak. I know there’s fans of other clubs who wont be as enthused about him coming in because they’ll see it as a competitor being in rude health and potentially having strong teams in the near future which will harm their own clubs chances of success and I totally understand that. It’s natural as a fan to think that way.

BUT, what they need to understand is the bloke seems genuinely more interested in pulling British Speedway up off the floor and getting it back on its feet than prioritising Ipswich’ individual success. As he says “Ipswich will need somebody to race against” and he clearly wants a thriving British league so everybody should be behind him because its in everyones interest not just Ipswich.

The little smirk when he was talking about some just wanting to keep “The status quo” and some not being receptive to his ideas was probably an indication that he's fully aware he’s up against it. Every single one of us know exactly who he’s talking about without him even having to name them!

Until these absolute dinosaurs who want to continue limping along each year, reducing the points limit each year and doing the bare minimum each year, become extinct, then I fear he’ll be fighting a losing battle.

You can bet your last Rolo that they’ll absolutely despise Richard Coleman.

Richard Coleman has my respect for speaking up and going against those who've run British Speedway into the ground.

If no change happens then at least Richard tried to make change happen and therefore will be exempt from criticism if British Speedway completely collapses.

Need more than just Richard calling it out though and hopefully others will follow in his footsteps and take a stand against the usual suspects who don't like to listen.

He is another in an ever growing list of "outsiders" to come in to Speedway and see potential..

Similar to John Postlelthwaite in that he has feet in both GP and UK Speedway camps, (someone who has continued to be very successful in his own post Speedway career)..

Postlethwaite, however, sadly, didn't get listened to with his vision on how to deliver the huge potential the sport has, and neither did those others who also came in from outside the "UK Speedway Bubble" since..

The Speedway Stars "x years ago" section is very telling, almost every week, as they cover off what was being discussed from decades ago, and, almost every week, the same issues that we still discuss today get mentioned as something that "desperately needs sorting"...

Meaning many from inside the sport have spotted the clear and obvious issues, (and it isn't just the moaners on the BSF:D), yet, their view on things obviously fell on deaf ears...

(Or maybe not deaf ears but ears with fingers stuck in them and the person going "LA! LA! LA! I can't hear you!!")...

Coleman reminds me of Postlethwaite in that politically, and emotional intellectually, he is of a much higher level than many within UK Speedway, and, regardless of whether he gets listened to, will personally be a success in whatever he does in business going forwards...

It is a huge opportunity for the sport in the UK to use his capability, contacts and acumen...

The, "quite content with their lot, Hobbyists" may not concur though!!!;)

Let's, as fans of the sport, who can also see its obvious potential, (if only just down now to its low point currently), he can deliver significant progress and growth...
