2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams

I really hope that the majority of posters on here do not represent the general speedway supporter! There is so much negativity that, if I were a potential Premier promoter, I would say "I don't think I'll bother".

Whatever you think of those who run speedway, they are doing much, much, more than sitting in front of a keyboard, sniping at those who do get off their ar*e and they risk their own money!

The sport in this country is mainly ran by fans with a few ex riders tagging along. Reading this forum gives an indication as to why our sport is where it is.

I can’t get behind such a repetitive league but my favourite meeting of last season was when our rivals met us for the 10th time.

We don’t need top stars but I’d be there every time my favourite top rider showed up, no matter how often his team visited.

We need someone from outside the sport to manage things but when that sees the rule book being upheld then I’d prefer a closed shop.

We don’t need top stars and the sport is too expensive to watch and needs to be at weekends. Colts get 500 people turning out to watch lesser riders at the weekend for £15.

Fans need to identify with riders who are part of the team over many seasons but if they ride bad for a few meetings I’d like them replaced.

The rules need to be followed though if it helps my team to fudge them a bit then I’m all for that.

It’s vital we get a tv deal but I hate tv meetings due to all the delays.

I’m sick of guests even though my team used less guests over the last five seasons than it did during five seasons in its hay day.

My favourite race this year was the final heat of the British Final. Races like that could only help make the sport more popular but I do like how riders follow each other around at my tricky home track.

The above displays a large amount of self interest on the fans part making them ideal to become the next generation of promoters.

If we pay our money at the turnstiles we are entitled to our opinion whether you or the promoters like it or not

Lets be honest here, the only thing that really matters with the AGM and in 2026 is which teams are lining up to tapes. Hopefully this is the real rock-bottom and that things can only improve and strengthen from here. It'll be a herculean task with everyone involved pulling their weight.

Surely it can't get much worse right? ...right?!

The promoters have the sport they want. .

Some do it to bring in income to pay their way in life..

Most do it as an affordable hobby, and maybe a bit of an ego trip...

Therefore. Any comments on here, or on the various social media pages, will make not one jot of a difference as to how they decide to run the sport...

Sadly, we are where we are, simply due to that fact...

If they could run the sport "properly" then they would have done so many moons ago, hence the "same old/same old" has been the only plan for a long, long time,, (as it is the best they can deliver), even though it clearly isn't fit for purpose, as the current issues it has led to obviously demonstrate...

Their money, therefore, their way, and that is fair..

However, the sport will never grow unless they radically change their operating model, which is simply regressing the sport, almost year after year..

You do realise you can think that the sport is in trouble, needs new direction but can also be positive about it at the same time, rather than continually talking it down?!!

The powers that be are doing a fine job in taking it down, without any help from the fans...

They don’t make them like Charlie these days. They’re not allowed to for one ..

Saw him at a holiday camp in Devon in the early 80s, he was telling jokes about Asians, a lot of jokes about Asians. A family of Sikhs got up and walked out. You're right, they don't make em like that anymore.
