What about 2027?

Ford is spot on planning needs to start now , I know he's marmite but I personally think if he was made the big chief the sport would be in a way better place than it is now.

Harry and co need to come up with something when did they come on board Nov 2025 ? from memory and all we have had so far  is Linda L in what looked like a travel lodge room filming herself with a paper bag pulling out names for the ko cup which hasn't resulted in the ten's of thousands of lost fans heading back and Linda probably copped at least a grand for ten minutes work.

I'm leaning towards keeping two leagues but unless a 500k plus sponsor is found, we know the current top league format isn't financially feasible personally think an eight team top league would need to be current championship standard, second division teams of seven a couple of old hands per team Rambo Lambo, Ben Barker etc, 3-4 English youngsters (under 24) and allow a couple of possible foreign rough diamonds in also ideally Aussie and USA who having no formal home league structure might stick around a while longer than the Danes and Swedes.

If a second division team could be moulded to the type of 1-7 Lynn juniors had last year with say a couple of decent under 24 foreign youngsters per team might keep interest at current levels.

I really hope its not all kicked until Nov plus this year with the old fingers crossed format that something might turn up.

Interesting post. Are there any council elections due in Rugby in the near future that may have an effect on a CPO being considered?

As I said in my response to IainB, once agreed the Local Plan can't just be changed overnight by new Councillors. The 'decisions' for the plan and the CPO will be recorded and the Council staff will persue the agreed action. As far as I am aware, talks have already taken place between the Council and the consortium, and as long as the Local Plan passes the consultation process it will definitely be happening. The difficulties will potentially come from Brandon Esatates, not from the Council.

For 2027 still can't see a 1 league structure being viable due to lack of riders and teams wanting different race nites when a lot of riders maybe elsewhere. So a 2 league structure, but the top league should have 2 UK U24 riders at reserve (presuming 7 rider teams) one to be classed at rising star.

In the 2nd league again both reserves to be U24 one to be a 2 point rider from the NDL

Sort rules and points limit before this season ends and agree in early November, teams could be announced as usual, have fixtures for both leagues out by mid January.

Surely this is simple enough to happen  !!!

First priority has to be the collective mindset of club owners and promoters.

Unless they're ALL able to move beyond the silo mentality which has been the prevailing influence, then there isnt any point in talking about things like doubling-up and leagues structure.

This includes, whether there are one, two or three leagues, to adopt a collective purpose and co-operation. Without that, there seems little point in carrying on.

The current management and decision making arrangements need to be urgently consigned to the rubbish bin, enabled by the establishment of a small board of directors with no personal club interests. This needs to be pushed forward collectively by those owners and promoters who are forward thinking, with the first step being to bin off the progress-blockers including if necessary creating a new company which will render the current BSP Ltd obsolete.

All of this is nothing new. But this time it has to actually happen. Then they can sort out issues like leagues, doubling up, rules, formats.

That's very interesting, so the Brandon site will appear in the New Local plan as a site where a CPO will be attempted?

A compulsory purchase order (CPO) is not generally referred to as merely "attempted" in a legal sense, but rather it goes through a four stage process where it is made, objected to, confirmed, and then executed. It is considered a last resort, and the acquiring authority must prove they have attempted to acquire the land by negotiation beforehand.
Only Brandon Estates are likely to make an objection which given the history of rejected planning and appeal only the price offered could be grounds for such an objection.
The valuation is determined by a chartered surveyor, usually appointed by the acquiring authority based on the "market value" of the land as if it were sold by a willing seller on the open market, excluding any future changes in value caused by the intended future use.
