That is why the sport is a pastime that few punters care or are interested in and until it has a total revamp with people who have vision, it will continue to be a sh.t show. No regular fixtures, shared riders, no legitimate reason to win a meeting and journeymen who use UK speedway and in part the fans entrance fee to a meeting to top up the pension pot. They take few or no risks and pootle round a track and protect the revenue stream from riding in Poland but at all costs ensure no risks are taken to jeopardise the income and do the bare minimum and the punters in the UK accept the morsels on offer. That sums up most of the riders contribution to league racing in the UK and the racing on offer. Take it or leave it. The sport will never get back to its halcyon days. ouch Posted July 3 Report Share Posted July 3 Matej’s replacement has to make way as any other changes to the side have to meet the 37 point team building criteria. The only problem for Northampton is their obvious lack of home knowledge. The team put together might not be champions but neither would they be the whipping boys in any other season than this, their first. Had the modest losses at home been turned into modest wins then peoples opinion would be very different as they sit on 9 points in the table instead of 2. BARNES Posted July 9 Report Share Posted July 9 (edited) Had my first visit to Northampton this evening and was pleasantly surprised. Track seems to be improving with lines and passing compared to what I had heard. Decent enough facilities aswell. As for the home riders, it was nice to see Zager and Batchelor get their acts together as the meeting went on, unlike the skipper who frustrated after winning his first. GeneralMelchett Posted July 21 Report Share Posted July 21 Finally made it last night - very impressed with the set up there - the track was bladed etc after heat 2 and then after that produced some really good racing. Its a shame its a 2 hr drive for me as I would be tempted to go more regularly but its a great set up and sat in the grandstand on a warm sunny evening watching a 45-45 draw with quite a lot of overtaking I was very happy! 8 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
