Correct. Ideally you pick him up after one of his bad seasons and on a cheap average, when you’ve built a strong team and challenging. Glad to have him of course, but does seem a bit of a waste this year if you get my drift. Average will surely be a bit more hefty next year.

Agree, Will more than likely be pushing 8.00 imo but the good news is that Brennan's average will drop considerably at this rate so it kind of levels things out.

As a neutral, it's a very disappointing result. Partly I don't want every new team in the Prem to finish bottom (then no one else will ever step up) partly because it makes the play-off fight a complete non-event.

Next year will be different for them imo.

Like Ipswich, They were left behind with Team Building, Difference is Ipswich had a couple of loyal riders who were willing to wait for them as a starting point, Then they snapped up the best two riders available in Musielak and Lawson.

Northampton had to start from scratch entirely, Kye Thomson has been a top signing for them and I think young Luke Harrison is starting to find his feet so that's a couple of positives and a starting point for 2027.

Crowd was down to around 1000-1100, I'd reckon, and it was poor entertainment at times. Batchelor did actually try hard and deserved his win, while Jeppesen just didn't look interested. I think the track got to some of the riders, and some of the Foxes veterans were unwilling to take the risks younger men might've. It is what it is, and it'll be like this all season. Hopefully there'll be a second go-round next year to get it right - is Alun Rossiter free?

I hate to be critical of such a new venture, I really do, but there are some basics that need to be addressed and soon...

The whole show seems a bit slap dash, they haven't yet once started on time! Craig Saul, as good and informative as he is at interviews etc. is no hype man! The team manager, the less said about him the better... but the track! The promotion may not be able to control many things, such as rider performances etc. but they can control the track and last night was the worst yet... yes there'll be the usual excuses, couldn't get on the track in time, the bowser broke down etc. but on each and every occasion it has been too dry and dusty to generate any grip for the riders and last night they had the added bones of giant stones and rocks hitting them.

BSN were towing the usual Speedway line last night in that we must be grateful that they have come to the tapes... NO! They are (or should be) a professional outfit operating in the top tier of British Speedway and what they're putting out, especially with the track, is just not up to muster and the "fans" are already voting with their feet.

As he said in his interview, there’s certain A list clubs that you want to ride for, and Ipswich is one of them. A happy Musielak at a good club is a fine rider. It’s when he’s at a club that isn’t particularly well run that he loses interest pretty quickly.

Surprised that's true - did he say that in the interview?

Should be a few more for the Aces visit as they are trying to organise a coach which, if it happens, would get 50 or so there...

Plus, a fair few who will be driving down themselves, as me and my lad will...

Second visits from teams will see a natural drop in away fans, as they have ticked the box of attending a new track..

The challenge for the promotion will be to have enough home fans when the away numbers dwindle to the usual minimal amount at most other meetings...

A promoter several years ago, once told me that, by the end of the season, circa a third of the opening night attendance becomes the usual number there most weeks...

1000-1100 won't be too far away from his view being correct I would think...

The favourites for the title should get a few more home fans there too than last night, especially given Kurtz and Doyle will be there. (Hopefully!)...
