If Poland bring in the new rule (1 league other than Poland) quite a few of the top boys will leave, that means the Premiership will have to lower its standards inorder to maintain a competative league. One league is a none starter because there will be no way enough riders even if you went down to 5 rider teams. I think most championship teams would be willing to lower the standard(and wage costs). The exception being Glasgow and Poole, Poole I could see moving up, the standard of the Premiership wouldn't be far of their current team.

I don't think I ever said I was new. I was a Milton Keynes fan until they closed mid-season in 1992. Occasionally visited Coventry after (and did one Cardiff). I just have good memories of a 16, 17 team National League and want something like that back. But whatever.

Richard Coleman has been quoted as saying he wants an 8 team top flight next year. When I read that I initially assumed it meant meeting each team twice home and away but I'm wondering whether he means that it should be run on the Polish/Swedish model, i.e once at home and once away and running on a single night, almost certainly Monday. This could keep some of the big names here and attract more over if they only had to come here once a week rather than twice. Given the Swedish decision on tyres it might attract more riders to come here and be able to use the same tyres as in Poland. This is conjecture on my part, but it will be interesting to see what comes out of the conference.

The level of doubling up over here causes so many problems.

The championship product can only continue in its current guise with the same level of doubling up. The championship clubs couldn’t afford to run at their current level without the riders earning another income via the premiership. If the premiership fails then the standard of the championship drops overnight costs rise & that’s the beginning of the end.

For the sport to survive like it or not it’s needs a successful premiership & a two tier set up. 
 

An 8 team premiership properly ran with very little or no doubling up is a must. The gap between the tiers also needs to be widened.

A mixture of needing to curb doubling up & the polish rules will see a different set up next season.

Those riders who currently ride for Friday tracks appear very happy to do so , possibly because they know these tracks pay their riders on time.

Look what Charles Wright did this season ( injury aside ) he chose Championship and Poland and turned down a place in the Premiership.

That would be the way I would go but ideally not on a Monday I just don't think the appetite is there for speedway in its current form once home and away, home meetings run fortnightly, season  May - Aug when weather is best if nothing else the losses should be lower as fewer meetings and more people might turn out if they only got to see the visiting team once bar play offs.

It's delusion to think riders will choose CHAMP over PREM in 2027 tbh.

If CHAMP clubs were happy to pay PREM wages then they'd race in the PREM.

There’s only you thinking they do ! Whilst I accept Glasgow are well known to pay above the norm in the championship, possibly to compensate their location , the rest pay what they can afford that’s why they are still running.

Premiership is a small fish and that’s why Poole , Glasgow etc prefer championship as they keep their preferred race night and get double the fixtures.

The reason home and away twice may be on the cards is to give double the meetings that Sweden or Denmark do, so can entice riders..

Also, some landlords may want a certain minimum amount of income..

I would suggest regular fortnightly meetings should be the aim, with the same team not visiting the second time soon after the first visit..

Isn't that what most promoters do, off set speedway loses against a company, as very few Speedway clubs make money, apart from maybe Poole
