CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY OFF FINAL - SCUNTHORPE v POOLE v SCUNTHORPE (2 & 7 October)

Recommended Posts

If Poole want to prepare their track slick, that’s up to them, same with Oxford and Northampton to name three, the racing might not be up to much but it’s not dangerous track because it’s slick.

It just means the racing tends to not be very good if your a neutral, but as fans we have a choice to buy these streams or not, I decided after after break to give the British promoters another chance and buy the BSN package for both leagues this season, more fool me, I won’t be doing it again.

15 clubs in all and only four maybe five tracks I feel confident will produce a decent level of entertainment,

It's called home advantage. Every promotion should be setting up their track to best suit their riders - if they want to win things. The Poole promotion want to give their riders the best possible chance of winning, that's what they care about. It's also what Poole fans care about and what keeps them coming through the turnstiles - and who can blame them? Whether you like it or not, Poole don't care about a Glasgow fan watching on a screen.

The naivety of posters like this will be the death of British speedway.

It’s difficult to debate this with someone who cannot distinguish between a legitimate home advantage from deliberately sacrificing the quality of racing to maximise the chance of a win.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Poole build excellent sides that are more than capable of winning AND entertaining.

Yes I get that and you are entitled to your opinion, I thought the final was very entertaining as was the BSN final at Poole.

The death of British speedway? You're talking about a track that has the biggest attendances in the country and do more to promote the sport in the local area than any other! You and I might not like the racing, but the Poole fans clearly do. Why would Poole change that to appease a Glasgow fan?

The ref from the first leg who missed the tyre warming should be disciplined, the Poole leg is not so clear cut, riders leaving the track is normally black and white and is followed by an exclusion light, saw it happen all the time in the late 80s before Arena had a safety fence installed.

Thing is if Cook had sat behind Pickering it still would have been a Poole win, its not like the pass enabled the win.

I think its one of those things that a decision has to be made in real time and thus conclusive, once a heat is completed other than a tie for position on the line, the race should be called.

Anything that comes to light afterwards should result in the ref being disciplined and banned for a period of time and certainly losing the right to ref any higher prestige meetings, they are paid to do the job, hit them in the pocket.

I don't remember any meeting that has been re-run. You could argue both meetings being re-run as there seems a big case for Cairns tyre warming.

While I am not suggesting it should, or would, be re-run.......

At some point in the '80s there was a match at Ellesmere Port when Berwick were visiting, which was declared null and void after the event (something to do with tyres, ironically) and had to be re-run late in the season.

I can't be bothered looking up chapter and verse, but the precedent is there.......

Or indeed, fans of any other teams who are watching on a screen...

The same fans who always watch Poole matches, and then always complain the racing is rubbish!!!:D

Every. Single. Time!!!!!:D:D

I think the forthcoming promoters' meetings should address why all tracks haven't got radio communication between the ref's box and the start marshalls (unless thats already a rule), That could/should deal with all starting issues on the spot!

Or is it because that isn't in place at the BSPL Chairman's track?
