Whilst I agree with pretty much all the sentiments above, and sounding off makes many feel better, I fear you are all just wasting your breath and your time. The fundamental failings of speedway in the uk are simply that the sport is governed and run by those individual business owners within it. They manipulate whatever is necessary to their own ends, and will continue to do so. Any new member to the club will soon be hounded out or suppressed if they start to break the mould. Until that changes, everything else is window dressing, posturing, and general BS Its never going to change voluntarily, as to do so, you need all these business owners to hand over the control of the rules by which their businesses operate. This isn't a championship problem, it's all uk leagues. The only way these people are going to hand over control is ££££ and lots of it. That's very unlikely, so if you want to carry on bickering about how wrong things are, fine, but at least be realistic. Unless some Barry Hearne type figure walks through the door offering big £££ to take control of UK speedway, It's not going to change. All the BS in the world is just spin. When all is said and done, we are just customers of some business who sell a product. They do as little as they can to get as much ££ as they can. Your 'rights' are you can either buy the product or not. You can bitch and moan about it or not. And please don't ever quote the 'fans' thing. Fans are just a clever marketing ploy to make individuals buy into a brand where they will make illogical decisions and spend more money on a product than is sensible. Turn someone into a fan and you have a gullible cash cow waiting for you at every opportunity. Might sound harsh, but it's true. I think we should just spend more time enjoying the simplicity of watching 4 people racing 4 laps with no brakes a bit more, for what it is. Trying to ignore what we know goes on in the background. If you think too hard about the rest of it, it just sucks the life and soul out of you. Keep hoping for a Barry Hearne type figure to come along, but I believe that opportunity was had, and rejected 25 years or so ago.

It's UK Speedway.... It doesnt really matter... Just go along and hopefully enjoy a good evenings entertainment... There is pretty much no kudos in victory, no major financial reward, and hardly any media coverage other than the odd mention in a few papers for the play off winners allied to good coverage in the Speedway Star, so it really doesn't matter who wins any league.. What does matter is that teams win at home most weeks and stay solvent, which ensure riders who spend tens of thousands on kit are able to ride on many nights of the year to justify their expense.. The sport has been ran in a "bit Mickey Mouse" way for decades so it wont ever change.. It still has the capability to deliver a cracking night out, and the racing today is as least as good as I can ever remember, so just go along and enjoy what is on offer.. You might be even be lucky enough to be there for Bomber's 100th appearance of the season...

Let's go back to 2018 when The CHAIRMAN lost a rider to injury so gave himself a Guest ALL season and even cancelled others Clubs Fixtures so he could get a suitable Guest. Let's look at the failure post Brexit to be prepared for Visa delays that were clearly going to happen Let's look at the failure to put some sort of limit on the combined average of top 3 heat leaders. Let's look at the closed shop that is the PL meaning not enough riders to stock 11 CL Clubs to a more level playing field. It's far deeper than Newcastle, Birmingham and Plymouth. They are victims of the system as opposed to them being the perpetrators. The sport is run by a cartel, for the cartel full of their own agendas. Start with an inpedendent Governing body, separate the SCB which the BSPL have effectively taken over and neutered.

there's no rider shortage, the ridiculous strength of the 2nd tier is strangling their progress from the 3rd tier. Even if they're not world beaters they're competent and could make up team numbers. Yes, I'm saying the CL should be weakened. If Eastbourne and others come back next year it will be needed otherwise it won't work and we'll lose tracks.

Just a reminder of the announcement by B'ham main website when Adam was signed. It clearly says he's joined for the 'Season'! Management are quick to jump on here when something negative is said.... Just wondering why they're not as quick to 'quash' these rumours , unless they're true? P.s it also states that to bring him to B'ham is big big news....well, to lose him after such a short time under false pretences would be even bigger news !

Now being a Glasgow fan I'll probably take a little flack for this but if a rider withdraws from a meeting, and I use Tom Brennan withdrawing at Newcastle last Sunday, surely he should be required to 'rest & recover' for so many days rather than ride the next day? The whole set up British Speedway is a joke. Two (senior) leagues made up of the same riders more or less. It's little wonder fans wonder if riders can give 100% to their team given the strain on machinery and of travel.

I believe the above totally unfair. Before you think this is the views of a fan of any particular team May I point out I am in Dorset and had a season ticket at Poole for 16 years. Plymouth signed Kennett some time ago, I think he was one of their first signings. Yes he thought he had to pull out but later agreed to sign. He fell in his first ride and the injury is bad as it opened a earlier injury. I agree that this could be the end of his career but Plymouth have been looking high and low for a replacement but the rules abroad and BSPA have stumped them. Then Gilles had a very serious injury and Atkins for some reason quit the club. How are clubs going to find riders when there are none there.

Why you go back to worrying about your club and let other people worry about theirs. All you have achieved so far is to paint Newcastle Speedway in a far worse light than it already was (and to be fair with a club that is falling apart at the seams its saying something). Nobody wants any clubs to close in the same way as they don't want the sport to disappear but half baked efforts to keep a club going do just as much harm as good. Given the few who attend its unlikely there were first time holiday makers at the Newcastle debacle but if they were its highly unlikely they would ever attend any track again. Poor showings reflect badly on the whole sport not just the host club.

I have spent thousands at the club over the years so I am entitled to an opinion. The fans spent a “mint” last season on the go fund me campaign. Did that money not help save the club? The bloke in my opinion is way out of his depth. You only hear anything from him when he wants a rant or the begging bucket comes out. But you keep licking his hoop, I’m sure he will appreciate it.

Speedway is lucky it has some people left who put up with all the shenanigans.

I really couldn’t give a monkeys bollocks what gives you the right to slag rob off come put your money where your mouth is we will be at the track all weekend you will see a small part of what rob does but I bet you don’t

whatever the backwards and forwards of this argument, we really can't afford to lose another club, you'd hope the BSPL can give as much support to Newcastle that they can

Said it loads of times - but 6 rider teams with a British junior at no.6 is the minimum requirement of what the Championship should be. Less riders to find, cheaper British rider and the existing riders getting more rides and earning more whilst the need for guests and R/R drops down. Guests shouldn’t be allowed unless there is 2 or more riders missing. Even more money to be wasn’t for riders. Everybody wins!

I remember about 8 years back our former promoter/manager George English asked me to go to the 3rd&4th bend to dig some of the grass out that was growing over the kerb and spreading onto the track which was done & we ( the track team at the time went all the way around the track cleaning up the kerb area which was just below in some parts & level with track in other parts which at the moment yeah it's a bit worse but not what some of the people who have took it to the extreme on being dangerous on SOCIAL MEDIA..& even when Martin Phillips joined the promotion we even tried sorting out the drainage on the 1st bend then but as rob grant has stated in his update on track work ( in some part the drain is blocked which probably would need some of the centre green to be dug up to repair & how much would that cost) so let's give the promotion a chance to do there best for Newcastle speedway & hopefully get some more good racing at Newcastle this season

Are you for real? You expect four guys racing 500cc bikes with no brakes to alter their course to avoid a dangerous section of track. Bikes have a mind of their own at the best of times and can act unpredictably even in the hands of the top riders.

He will have his own personal fixed race night rules soon... The fixture list will have to built around him....
  17. 2 points
It certainly won’t whilst the BSPL board of Directors keep making decisions which circumvent the rules.

There are some at Newcastle who may question that.

Pretty sure GB would count as 1 out of the allowance(ie countries as against leagues) i should imagine the 2 leagues in Sweden are treated the same.

Just paying a rare visit so must have missed that last time if it was there? What's irrelevant? You're a bit of a clown and it's a funny suggestion that gets funnier each time that you say it. Thanks for relieving my boredom though

Greg Hancock was involved in an advisory capacity In 2014 but Steve Lawson done all the major work and this continued last close season funny enough fixing the base on the 3rd bend. Anger management is a soothing thing you should check it out at www.ilovearant.com.
