Of course they put bums on seats in comparison to non World Class riders... The more salient question is though... Do they put enough bums on seats to justify the outlay for them?... It has been mentioned on here, by some who appear "in the know" at their local tracks, that between 3500 and 5000 quid is the going rate for a World Class rider... Therefore, taking the lower number, that is 14,000 quid laid our for two World Class level riders, from your home meeting income, for the home and away meetings.. Now, I know sponsorship will cover a fair amount, however, I would suggest laying out around 8,000 quid for those two meetings for "decent" riders, and using 6,000 quid to actually promote the meeting, on a night that is maybe better to attract a crowd, would be the more sensible business plan to follow.. Ipswich fans have suggested that crowds have, in the main, held up this season without last years "Superstars".. Which, even if there was a drop off of a couple of hundred, must mean a fair net saving on outlay this season, given their current One and Five won't be in the same pay bracket .. Utopia is every team to have two World Class riders, reality though means they wouldn't cover their income by increasing gates enough to pay their salaries... My old company has made many managers redundant/retired over the past decade, with, on many occasions, those highest earners the ones who have taken the attractive redundancy/retirement terms on offer.. Are their replacements as good? Nowhere near, given the disparate level of experience and capability, however they are 30-40% cheaper and will gain experience and capability as they develop.. The bottom line though is you could have King Charles himself at No1 for any team, but if hardly anyone outside a select few know the sport itself, never mind the team, exists, then you won't be needing the " House Full" signs outside... -
how many times have we been told great day for Coventries comeback ,this got overturned that got refused. the secretary of state says No ,so that's it no more applications for housing .. and then just a matter of weeks later another application is handed in . IMHO if you offered Brandon estates 20 Million for the site they would still not sell , this has become a battle of wills just like Cradley Heath ,, heard the song I get Knocked down but i get up again ? that's about brandon estates

The reason fewer people came is because the event was advertised as a youth/academy event. In all sports fewer people will go to youth events with football being the major example! World Cup final tickets were £10,000+ but the U20 World Cup 2025 final tickets were £3. Anyway, my best example is I have brought a number of my friends from Uni to Poole Pirates on a few occasions. For all of them they had never heard of speedway before they met me. The favourite riders were Cooper Rushen because of his tassles and Tobias Thomsen because of his celebrations. The meetings most people have enjoyed have been those which are close and competitive in terms of points. It's just anecdotal but I think the general public don't know who Dan Bewley is! -
its got a whole lot more professional since then ,, riders don't have time for the plebs who pay their wages anymore ... some are so selfish they don't even do the victory parades because their vans are loaded and off to Poland . I've even seen one refuse to do heat 15 in case he missed his flight

I’d never claim Brady to be one of our own in the same way as Dan but we should be looking for more riders to move from 7.50 to 9.50 and become GP challengers as despite popular opinion on here, they put bums on seats. -

I was expecting to go down by 20+ Sheffield is a place where a string of 3 4 5 consecutive 1-5 heats can slip by very easily Neither happened so I felt it was decent That 1 extra point could be vital - no need for the super heat next time 😉 -
Aye you got more than a brief mention on BSN last night as well during the Scunny v Redcar meeting . Something to do with having the same name as someone famous. No mention of any royalties though. 😂

What's happened to Scott he started the season on fire, I know he's had a few knocks recently is he carrying an injury as in my mind early season he wasn't far off the Poole turbo teens. -

I was comparing Bewley & Shimelt as I continually get told that we don’t need names as nobody knows any different. Is this the case or not? People who don’t know the difference also wouldn’t feel the difference in speed , which is less than a second a lap. -

dry at the track for last couple of hours and no rain forecast for rest of day on weather channel. -
Hence why I say I don't know why. It's just a weird feeling I have that he'll do it, because it'll be so incongruous if he did. I'll be pleased for him, even it he isn't good to be in it. At the end of the day it is an oxymoron for anyone who says that the event is stale or that they want change then moan when the true open way in throws up a weird qualifier like Kim Nilsson. Or a decade of Andy Smith :ha:
