Some great news from the Jablonski family Mirosław Jabłoński ·9 points

Think Lublin will be happy the way”their” Team performed given the injury to Laguta.Polish supporters support “their” team and associate with them.In GB it’s just anybody we can find to ride for us system.Just a joke sport here on who are Champions and Cup winners. It means so much more in Poland.5 points

Approx 30%. The tv money doesn’t make up for the shortfall. Add in having to ride on Mondays and Thursdays, the same opposition every 3 weeks and it becomes very unattractive. I was against Poole dropping down but considering the league is double the size and there is no difference bar a couple of riders in team strengths, it’s a no brainer.4 points

Bloody Hell! There's more lights shining on that poster than on the terraces at the Eddie Wright raceway! Any chance that we can all have a free candle in order that we can see to fill in our programmes and also not break our necks up the unlit terraces. And whilst you're about it, please sort out your p.a. system Mr Godfrey. I'm tired of all of the Norman Collier jokes and the Chinese whispers about the race times when you can't make out a word that's being said.. For the chair of the B.S.P.L. to expect us to put up with that quality of presentation sums up the state of British Speedway!3 points

I thought this thread was supposed to feature Wolves and Peterborough. I for one couldn't give a monkeys about Poole and whether they should be in the premiership or not. There time has come and gone and the less said the better!3 points

Personally I think the first thing speedway needs to address are user friendly bikes. Bikes that riders can control on less than perfect surfaces, tyres that work on a wet surface, once you get the confidence in the paying public that a meeting will run to the end they may start to come back. As it is, the first sign of drizzle and everyone wants to give up! Unless it was monsoon conditions, I don't recall the issues we have now back in the day, and that was before dirt deflectors. Once the fans start coming back, then you can think about being more professional. Clubs need to be sustainable from the off and I think that starts with riders wages and equipment costs. Get back to basics and then move forward.3 points

I don’t think living in social housing means the occupiers have fallen on hard times. They are for families who cannot afford, from their income, to pay the high price houses that some areas have. This would include low pay workers like nurses, care workers, transport workers etc. Those workers have been classed as “key” workers and no doubt they work in those sectors because they like the job, even though it’s not high pay. I think they may be upset if some class them as they have fallen on hard times. I think the not often used now term of council houses would have been similar in the past. I was brought up in a council house, and though we didn’t have bags of money we certainly was not on hard times.2 points

Rather than point the finger at Rob Godfrey about the visa issue with Tero he has been 100 % truthful , it’s a shame the other promoters who it has affected are very quiet on the subject . Plus it’s a side in the play offs. ?? Rob stated that Tero was having an issue getting in and out the country after riding in foreign meetings and he certainly isn’t the only rider but fire bullets at Rob for telling the truth unlike other sides2 points

Premiership teams can nominate a rider with a Championship average of 3.00 or below who not declared in a Premiership 1-7 as an additional rider (AR)2 points

I question if it helped us on our way. Because of the injury he scored 0,0 in his first two rides. Yes we got 5+1 for the last two rides but a fully fit MPT would have scored more than that, guaranteed.2 points

There is a quite significant saving if what you read on the Newcastle and Eastbourne threads are accurate re payment.. With Eastbourne paying "too much" for the 2nd Division according to other promoters.. Probably far too simplistic, but maybe the conversion rate they use for averages is also linked in some way to points money conversion too? ie it is "easier" to earn more in the 2nd Division so you get less per point? I would also think that the 2nd Division teams could drive a harder bargain too as so many of the same (decent), standards riders will be relying on that second job due to very limited overseas opportunities... And. Let's be honest, given the crowd numbers the sport has, it shows hardly anyone really cares who wins either league title anyway so you might as well be "successful" for less.. Poole's crowds from what I have seen and heard are at the top end of the scale of any club in the UK, but wouldn't I would suggest get another 500 or so through the door if top of Div One rather than top of Div Two... And of course from an entertainment perspective you get to see virtually all of the best riders riding in the UK each week just like the Div One fans do.. I would also suggest that a few Div 2 teams should have taken the same decision and dropped down to Div 3 in a similar fashion, although to be fair, the Div 3 standard was messed about with which maybe dissuaded them from doing so.. 1000% the correct business decision for Poole, but not surprising as over the years they have made many good busines decisions... One of the sports major issues is the way some run it as a "money no object" hobby bringing salary inflation into it.. If all had to run it as a pure business to make themselves money to live, then I am sure many decisions made collectively by those who run it would be a lot different.. And the sport would be in a much healthier position because of it..2 points

I love how Shovlar thinks the Championship is the bees knees now.Oh how he changes his mind,he thought it was utter rubbish before the season started and was even contemplating not going. He would love Poole to be in the Prem play offs and not the Champ just so he could gloat even more.2 points

It would be nothing short of farce and a major embarrassment for speedway if Edinburgh were to win the league this season. I know we must all bow down to the insane American obsession of back door winners and second chances aplenty but any team finishing a distant fifth during the qualifying campaign shouldn't even be given the opportunity to plunge yet another dagger into the heart of a once beautiful sport.2 points

Looking at the new averages it is just as well Harris and Andersen had poor performances v Sheffield and then engine failures when well placed v King’s Lynn! Anyone might have thought it had been planned!2 points

Is that Hans Andersen, nick Morris and Ryan Douglas riding on a wet grippy difficult track tonight? Surely not2 points

See Geoff Brown announced on Look North tonight that "Rob Grant has decided to run for another year"? "Great news he said the Diamonds are back" Here Here Geoff... However I may not have that verbatim and he may have just made a sweeping statement but if we are only looking at one more year we do need to get our thinking caps on and get moving as it could be we aren't out of the woods yet and we are in the same predicament at the end of next season... I am getting lots of PM's pledging money and wanting to be part of a trust or similar to support the club so looking forward to seeing people next Tuesday... Regards THJ2 points

No rules apart from 2 Polish U21 riders at 6 and 7 (14/15) and a U24 rider of any nationality in the top 5 plus a minimum of 2 Poles in the top5 - if the U 24 is a Pole they still need another 2. A U23 rider can also be named as no 8(16) and take rides of the top 5 up to the max allowed.1 point

As taken from the Speedway GB website the years I have been an avid fan of Speedway, It was a family treat every Monday night going down to watch the Exeter Falcons. After moving away from my home town I lost track of the Speedway scene but the thought of the atmosphere and the smell and flying shale was still in my mind. I ended up starting to go to Belle Vue Aces and everything I remembered about my days at Exeter came flooding back even though I don't go every week it is still a thrill the next time I go back. Pete - Stockport From the first race it became obvious that, despite this being a testimonial, the riders meant business. As they jostled for position around the tight bends, every sinew straining to keep control of the sliding back wheels, the crowd roared on their favourite, struggling to be heard over the deep growl of the engines. The blur of sound and colour, as they passed only yards away, was replaced by the one sensation that, for me, made the whole experience real. The exhaust fumes from the methanol fuel forced their way up my nostrils and left an overpowering but not unpleasant lingering smell reminiscent of cooking oil. It was at this point that I felt a connection with my fellow spectators, as if I had just experienced some rite of passage, which no amount of armchair viewing could bestow upon me. Daren Cowen I went to my first Speedway meeting at Poole in 1979. It was generally thought by those who knew me best that it would not be "my cup of tea" at all, but how wrong they were! I absolutely loved it! I didn't understand about helmet colours and teams and so on, but I bought the Speedway Star and the Speedway Mail at the track, asked a few questions and I was hooked! From that time on, I went to meetings home and away as often as I could and four of us become regulars at our home track Poole and at Swindon in the Phil Crump era. So what makes it such an exciting sport? The smell of the methanol, the buzz when the bikes are roaring, friendly supporters, the Stadium atmosphere and the fact that Speedway is so unpredictable. Even the score card is important. Mary Speedway racing is the most exciting and breathtaking 1minute of action available. The emotions that occur from the build-up of the riders coming onto the track, to the final chequered flag is sometimes more than you can take! The air of awe from around the stadium is a phenomena that no other sport can bring. The sounds, the smell, the taste and the feeling in the air of the dust mixed together with the oil and fumes leads to nothing but memories that you will never forget! As a spectator, my heart pumps really fast and that feeling as the tapes fly up, is not comparable to anything in the world. The thrills of seeing 4 riders bumping and grinding into the first corner and the leader trying to get away is superb! Speedway is modern day hunting, where the leader will be chased by other riders trying to outwit them, out-manoeuvre them and ultimately push them to the limit of making a slight error upon which to capitalize on. A minute of speedway racing combines all emotions, reactions and fear for success. The sounds of the crescendo of the crowd cheering, the air-horns blowing and the announcer going crazy is one word! HEAVEN!!! David Hensby - Canada It's great to support your local and national team, lots of passion comes from that. The bravery and skill of the riders is special, as much as we might moan about the lack of passing or whatever, no way would the majority of fans have the guts to get out there and do what the riders are doing in the first place. No brakes, boarded circuits, racing centimetres from one another ............ scary but exciting to watch!! The camaraderie and banter of the fans is good, discussions maybe heated but they never turn to violence. The accessibility of the riders to the fans is unheard of in sport, there's no having a pint with Wayne Rooney in the bar after a match like you could with Scott Nicholls for instance. Same with referees, team managers and promoters, everyone is accessible if you want to talk to them. Theresa Carman Speedway is the best sport in the world - Speedway rules!!!!!!! Tracey Knights I Love Speedway! It was a trip on the train to Cradley Heath on July 18th 1970 that did it. My Dad and my brother took me to my first meeting to see the Swindon Robins race the Heathens. That wide eyed 10 year old boy was enthralled, from the moment the gleaming bikes lined up for the parade to the wind down lap of heat 13. It was the greatest thing I'd ever seen, or heard, or smelled. On the way home, I raced in my mind, me against Chris Bass or Bernie Persson or Martin Ashby. I was in a speedway world of my own. And now, almost 37 years later, I still am. The sport still enthralls me. After being slightly concerned that a 20 year wait for the return of our famous Brummies may diminish my interest in the sport, I'm now as enthusiastic as ever, if not more so. It's like being 16 again, when I chose to read Speedway Star from cover to cover, or paint another program board, rather than revise for my O levels or do my homework. Race days are now spent with the same excited, butterflies in the stomach feeling that I had way back then. And that's just brilliant. Our sport isn't the "beautiful game", even that game is as ugly as sin now, it isn't the sport of kings and it certainly isn't a noble art. What it is though, is a people's sport, a fans' sport, where the stars are within easy reach and the opposing fans approachable, where you can walk around your local stadium, have a pie, a pint, a chat, make new friends, relax1 point

Hi John Sadly I have broken my legs and I'm having surgery on Thursday so will be unable to attend. If possible could you send me a message or email of what comes from the meeting and how people are able to get involved. My email address is j.potts909@btinternet.com Hopefully we will be able to support the diamonds next season and into the future. Thanks Jill1 point

Really good team management from rob lyon, did everything he could. People are worried about bjarne at reserve, hes not been shining but theres no tight corners at the other 3 tracks left and he ought to get his whack ( if of course panthers go thru)1 point

Take Lyons comments with a pinch of salt, heat of the moment I doubt Redcars fixture list is top of his priority list. Only person who will decide if MPT is riding is MPT. Selfishly, I hope he does rest, but I'd be gutted if it was the other way round.1 point

I think the whole team and Rob Lyon in particular know that the job is still only half done and they need to stay focused in the second leg, if the track is prepared for as it was last Thursday it should be a cracking fixture. No one is getting carried away yet, it’s still early days.1 point

You may have had to wait a while last Saturday, but heat 15 of the second meeting (NDL) was the best race I've seen this year (and this year I've been to every CL track plus the NSS and Mildenhall). With respect, a lot of folk say they've been to Leicester and it was crap. Well it was crap, was being the operative word. The current team and the current track curator (Stuart Dickson) have worked very hard to prepare a track with more shale and better overtaking opportunities especially around the outside. I would make one qualification. The forecast for the weekend looks rubbish. In such conditions, like many tracks, the management tend to go for a slick track to increase the chance of completing the meeting.1 point
