Richard Lawson is probably the best value rider in the league on his average, usually double figures home or away.6 points

Think we should sign the Cook brothers and bring Lawson back. For no other reason than the meltdown it would have on here. Just do it Glasgow sit back and get the popcorn in.6 points

Just for the record PiratecastLive is a completely unofficial video and podcast professionally produced and presented by 2 Pirate fans completely voluntarily and not part of the official club structure specifically so that any criticisms of the club can be and are aired. (Clearly its usually mostly positive). Each live episode features a guest - often a rider, but has also had Middlo, Karlito(DJ), Scotty Mitchell, and SCB referee Christina Turnbull to name a few - all of whom are asked questions from the fans in the chat room. All episodes are available to view on You-Tube or to listen to as a podcast on all platforms. The lads intend to continue through the winter to maintain the speedway fix. Give it a try.......4 points

That’s very true and I was one of the dissenters. He won me over with his attitude and professionalism and after having a few short chats with him in the pits, he came over as a likeable guy who had time for the fans.4 points
-
He told his reasons when interviewed for Poole Podcast, that was straight from the horses mouth.Don’t know why people are still going on about it.4 points
-
he did say how he lost so much money at Eastbourne and then found out one of the promoters was involved at Plymouth .. once bitten and all that4 points
-
Stick. He’ll have a year on all the other two pointers.4 points

They also did a great job of renovating the stadium as well, which had fallen into quite a state of disrepair. In many respects it's better than what it was like before the closure.3 points
-
He was on a ridiculous guarantee at Eastbourne, saying that, he never sat back and took the money, all out commitment for Eastie. That says more about Eastbournes last management and a lot about Richard, good rider and top bloke.3 points

Really pleased to see on here how Richard Lawson won over the Poole fans this season and looks like 100% want him back next season. When you look back at the posts in Poole 2022 around the Basso departing, Lawson coming time it was pretty much the other way. All things considered you ended up with a good deal, he certainly didn't let you down.3 points

I thought we were done with that myth now? Especially now Richard has explained the sequence of events.3 points

One thing guaranteed Poole will be the Team to beat next season as well. They know what they are doing.3 points

Could there be room for a Workington team in the NDL come 2023? Here's hoping!!! There will be a management meeting towards the end of November... fingers crossed... Could be a huge announcement coming that is for sure... Track is ready to go.. Ancillary Buildings; Security and Utilities are the next big challenges to overcome... So get your team requests in now Comets fans as you never know what you could be getting for Christmas... Do "We (still) Believe"? H18tory was made in 2018 and could be made again in 2023... UTC... Positive #1: Wolves only tracked six double-uppers in their seven man team! Could've been seven! Positive #2: The Premiership Pairs lasted more rounds than I expected! Positive #3: (to be edited in later, if I think of one!)2 points

I hope the comets can pull this off. The track looks absolutely fantastic . I wonder with Leicester dropping out they could be looking at Saturday night speedway? Maybe a season in the NL then work towards the championship?2 points

If you give us the details of the ludicrous amounts of money and equipment they have thrown at riders, as supporters, we will be able to come to our own conclusions of how our club is run. I take it you are Glasgow’s accountant……or at least have been given these details from them? Or have you been round every Glasgow rider asking them for the details of their contracts?2 points

It goes without saying, the Facennas have been brilliant for Glasgow and British Speedway but the amount of the money and equipment they’ve thrown at riders in desperation to win the league is ludicrous. From what I’ve heard, they’ve also been paying a certain Dane to drop his average this season…2 points

i'm feeling Danny King will be one to move on, not sure why, but think he'll still be travelling down south, and a bit further than Poole. no idea on averages but would they be able to keep the other 6 and get a mid/low averaged rider in?2 points
-
I can see why they think twice home and away will extend the league programme beyond mid July/August... but they couldn't complete once home and away and 5 play off ties in one of the driest summer's on record... only in Speedway would they think this is the solution. The ONLY way it is going to work is if they get away from this ridiculous idea that rained off meetings HAVE to be restaged, they don't in Cricket, they shouldn't in Speedway.2 points

Play offs this year especially turned out to be a complete lottery. They need binned going forward they have no credibility. Only my opinion of course.2 points

Oh good we’re back to this again…… The promoters chose to go to the press with details of the proposed new stadium in a bid to garner support from the local and wider speedway community. At no point did they suggest it was ‘in the bag’. Speedway at Armadale in 2023 was far from assured when the farewell meeting was staged. Cancelling it and then the extension falling through would have been more foolish.2 points

Worky's new track - looks a belter, Monarchs reprieved. Wouldn't it be good if they cd get a similar facility1 point

I'd take back any of Rasser, Nowak and Vissing, probably in that order. Less keen on Sam Jensen, but I've no idea what he's done this year.1 point

Agreed on Connor. Great lad, good to watch at Ashfield, but he would do better learning another track. I actually wonder if he'd be a good replacement for Drew Kemp at Poole. Lower average but would surely grow and a much better mental attitude - I've never heard him complain about anything.1 point

It's good on paper but I've seen it fail in another sport for one basic reason even with the very best intentions of most involved. Your 200 most passionate fans contribute a sort of contractual amount monthly or one off. Obviously though some of them want a perk or benefit for that, such as free or reduced admission. Human nature is also that some of those will want to act like "King dick" and saviour but probably want to come in free and end up paying no more than if they just went to every match and paid. So if your average and budgeted crowd is 500, but the core 200 are getting in for free or on a discount as they are contributing to build or save the club, your actual paying crowd is 300, and you are quickly back where you started, not enough in, too much out and disenchantment. Sugar daddy's are few and far between and sponsorship and advertising will be desperately hard to find with the economic crisis and rampant inflation and increased interest rates affecting everyone.1 point

I wasn’t impressed with the whole Lawson thing last season, but last season is over now so everyone should move on I’m still not impressed with the incident With Lawson and palm toft as it may of cost us last season I say may as season is now over and who knows what might have happened Lawson must have had his reasons for reneging on his deal with Plymouth but it couldn’t have had anything to do with money as I no that every rider was paid every penny they were owed so something else must have spooked him. As I say I wasn’t impressed but he made the right decision for him as he won the title but it’s time to put the rest of it to bed and it’s up to everyone else’s teams to knock Poole of there perch next season.1 point

With a reduced average and one less team to fill I would think that the riders on or around a 7 will potentially struggle to get a ride.1 point
-
I hope. Not, Danny is the captain and one of my favorite riders, he isn't getting any younger but still has alot to give and never gives up. If we have to let one of our heat leaders go it has to be Steve Worrall.1 point

“Fortunate” …… it was a speedway miracle, just have a look at the result when Drew and Nathan were at reserve against Leicester at home, coincidentally Zachs form took a dip after, resulting in scoring less than Drew in every meeting following this until the July cut off and then Boom slots into reserve and starts scoring for fun. What a turn in luck for Poole. Sometimes all you need is the right things happening at the right time. Even more crazy in his last 16 meetings he’s scoring 8.5 points on average per meeting so getting him on a 4.9 for next year is probably the biggest bargain in the league.1 point

So do I Geoff, but keep away from the shambles that has just finished, start lower down and run training schools etc to bring in the money,( hopefully,) then see what happens in the future, UTC1 point

Can anyone see a line up without King? I can't,, and since Batch was a bargain this year,, then surely on a lower average he will be even more of a bargain.1 point
