Unbelievable speedway match on the best track in the World.8 points

That's about right... Moaning about the way the guest facilty is consistently applied, rather than running the sport with no need for guest facilities at all... If they spent more time promoting the sport instead of making up ludicrous rules which means lengthy conversations around how to apply them, (with all the subsequent fall out and ridicule around them making the whole thing look pointless), then maybe, just maybe, the sport would be in much ruder health.. And maybe tracks wouldn't close so frequently due to landlords not getting the rent potential that 3000 fans at each meeting could let the clubs pay.. Interesting article in the (excellent again), Speedway Star with the KL co promoter saying that with 7 teams there isnt enough riders.. What nonsense.. The whole of Europe and Scandinavia is opened up with fixed race nights.. The fact those riders might not want to come over definitely isnt down to a lack of rider numbers.. And if 7 man teams means not enough cover for replacements then simply reduce the amount of riders per team which will then create a surplus... No. Let's keep doing the same thing each year and get that fiddle out whilst the place burns around us.. Because that works well doesnt it?8 points

No GP this year at Wroclaw is very disappointing. Appreciate they have the World Cup, but this track should showcase the sport.4 points

We're speedway fans. You could make a Harold Macmillan reference and we'd still be of THAT age.3 points

Due to the weather we MIST the last 4 heats of the Bullets meeting3 points

Two things about this story... 1. Peter Oakes has a nose for a story and is still highly effective at shoe horning speedway into the tabloids. Top work 2. It's absolute balderdash. Speedway will not be returning to Wembley. We (speedway fans) are a dying breed. It would do well to get 40,000 into Wembley. The crowds are shrinking and the average age of the crowd is rising. The numbers don't add up. Wembley gets repurposed to put on days and days of Harry Styles/Ed Sheeran/Adele type gigs and gets 80k turning up night after night. It's low risk, high return. Does anyone seriously believe they would repurpose Wembley, including laying of a track for one night of speedway? There might have been a chance when the new Wembey opened around 2007 and they were desperate to recoup money. Not anymore. The Principality is as good as it will get for speedway in the UK.3 points

Yeah, for all the great stuff the Glasgow promotion do, the actual promotion of the club and its activities has really dropped the last couple of years. They need to get back to it if they want new people coming through the doors.3 points

You do in Wroclaw, but agree he's hit and miss at other tracks, although he did win the big meeting yesterday to be fair.2 points

Said it before... Build a track around an American Football pitch....2 points

Has it been confirmed which team Lawson will ride for in this one Worst draw possible for the Bears (see all points above) but hopefully Riss will be back so at least we can have a full team of our own riders. Mickey Mouse cup anyway* (* I reserve the right to change my mind on this)2 points

Wembley would draw big crowd without doubt, lets hope it happens. Done with boring Cardiff and the rip off hotel prices which are jacked up for GP weekend !2 points

Maybe Wolverhampton signing Nicholls initially as 28 day replacement then asking for the team to be declared back to Becker when Chris Harris was used in the KOC against BV didnt sit very well with Vatcher at the time2 points

We've a rotten record at scunny and Poole so probably Redcar might be fav, but then redcars 2nd strings would probably fancy Glasgow too!! Could be some cracking meetings actually 3 proper racetracks plus Poole...2 points

Real shame that the promotion didn't set an admission price to get me there to use them but hey ho.2 points

Sounds like might be more on the inside of the fence looking out rather than the other way on. One of these weeks we have to announce the crowd changes to the team.2 points

They had run out of paint and the supplier couldn't get the exact same shade to match the existing so the meeting would of no doubt been off for this reason anyway2 points

I assume, The covers covered the greyhound track surface to prevent shale getting on it, if you don’t have speedway, you don’t need to protect the greyhound surface from flying shale.2 points

Went down to press and practice, I've seen the track before, but not seen live bikes going round, just WOW. !! The viewing is high up from wherever you stand, the track is smooth and looks to have racing lines all over. Roll on next Saturday good luck to the team and management . Just hope the weather gods know the speedway is starting2 points

Danes not advertised as missing, as otherwise people might put two and two together regarding the call-off on a fine evening...2 points
-
Yes that's right. They are building a new track on the opposite of the current track. Should be in a shape like Vojens, so much rounder then the current track. They will have a opening with practice at the first weekend of june. Dutch Championship schedules for the first weekend of july with the traditional golden helmet at the end of september.2 points

The current trend seems to be to delay any negative news until the last minute with team line ups not being publicised until the afternoon. In this case the rain off meant they never had to reveal that the Danes were missing. Official FB posts went out of their way to avoid any mention - write up highlighted Chris Harris, Tom Brennan, Sam Masters, Scott Nicholls only and while there were plenty of photos there were none of Ben or Claus; its poor that we need to rely on fans "in the know" to keep us informed.2 points

A much needed win after last weeks debacle Slightly lucky in the sense that Scunthorpe signed a perennial scorer of zero at Berwick in Max Clegg earlier this week but it was good to see Jorgensen looking quicker than he has done in previous weeks Coles continues to work hard and Leon and Rory did enough to back him up Scunthorpe very much a four man team with Douglas very unlucky not to bag a maximum due to bike troubles Quite easily the most entertaining meeting of the season so far which certainly helped2 points

Heard it arrived but they couldn't find a left handed screwdriver so couldn't fit it ....2 points

I think there is potential for a big crowd to attend a Wembley GP, on the following basis: 1. London is easier to get to for most people than Cardiff 2. International fans can easily fly into London. Cardiff airport, surely, has limited destinations 3. London has more tourist appeal (in my opinion) than Cardiff 4. I have only attended Cardiff once, the first, and when I left the stadium, walking through Cardiff, some Welsh men seemed quite hostile. I was with my wife and felt a bit threatened, although nothing happened. Yes, that could happen in Wembley, but in my opinion, unlikely 5. Wembley stadium must carry more prestige than Cardiff's 6. I'm sure the riders would love to be able to say, they have ridden in Wembley stadium 7. With good marketing, I reckon it could at least equal 1981's gate. I won't be going to Cardiff again, but I would definitely go to Wembley!1 point

No doubt if the SF gets rained off on the 18th the restaging will be the 19th. Though the Danes tend to get on with it when it's a bit wet.1 point

Don’t know how you expect the riders to get going at home with so long between Bandits fixtures.1 point

Speedway isn't road racign or motox, we dont have ONE race, we have 23 ! And in every heat the winner gets the most points anyway, 3-2-1-0, just like it should be, so what's wrong with that? With the new point system top riders like Zmarzlik simply don't have to fight for every point during the heats anymore. It shows in the racing, which is not as intensive as used to be when every single point counted.1 point

Berwick’s not going to drop Watson, it was the whole idea of the Courtney’s set up. He had never rode a speedway bike until he rode at Duns, then into the NJL team, then into the NL team, and he’s a Berwicker1 point
