  1. Good effort from Tom in gp qualifiers. 10 points and 5th place best of the rest. Could probably hand picked the qualifiers beforehand

  2. Connor Mountain scored 13+1 at Berwick for Plymouth on Saturday . Not bad for a 2nd string rider

  4. To make a switch at reserve would be a major error. Both reserves are improving week by week and are great to watch. Workington is my favourite team right now. Two ex Swindon riders, 3 exciting new foreigners, solid number one and a raw 100% tryer at no 7. This team needs sticking with. I've already got my credit card ready for the next time they are on the telly!

  5. Back in the day (like 50 years ago) there was no more intense rivalry than that between Coventry and Leicester. However, as a speedway fan I regularly go to Leicester these days while I wait for Brandon to reopen (yes it will, you see). My best friend says he follows Leicester but isn't a supporter. I'm a bit more on the side of being a supporter. It's not like any of the team come from Leicester is it? Seriously, I love my speedway and supporting a former rival seems to me quite appropriate. And just so this doesn't hijack the thread, I enjoy my visits to Oxford, very much. But when Brandon reopens I'll be back there like a shot.

  6. my statement went way above you ignorant and arrogant head, prime example of my statement, happened yesterday in home bargains me my daughter (19) her boyfriend (21) went in to get 2 of these one use barbeques, i got in the q to pay for them, while they were looking at other stuff, i pay for my stuff and there is a guy in between us being served while my daughter says to me i think we need these steel barbeque skewers, so i pass them some money to pay for them. when the woman behind the counter ( in her mid thirties i would guess ) asks them for id. they did not have any on them, so saying she couldn't serve them, i says to her i gave them the money to get them, she says i still cant serve them, so i say ive paid for them for me, she then said i can not serve you for them, because i now know they are for them. her common sense gone, taken over by health and safety rules. i mean no offence but your statement is absolutely pathetic.

  7. Having been looking forward to a Dad and his 2 lads weekend at the Grand Prix Round 2 in Warsaw we had brilliant day watching some excellent racing and the whole day went smoothly and as planned. Our flight home Sunday morning was an early one , we met and had photographs taken with Chris and Jack Holder , we met Jason Doyle and his pit crew all at the Airport which was a good start to our trip home. We had unallocated seats on the plane back to the UK and expected to be separated which was fine ….. the boys boarded as I followed on after only to go and find my youngest lad sitting next to the current leader , the one and only Jason Doyle with Simon Lambert sitting in front. As you can imagine my lad had the biggest cheesiest grin ever to be seen ! Both Jason and Simon chatted pretty much most of the flight home sharing stories and offering some banter. Jason also took a keen interest in my lads Kart racing and was more than willing to look at some photos and ask about the sport which made my lads days. To think Jason had been to work only a few hours before and come away winning the Grand Prix and still take time to talk and show interest in my lad is a day we will never forget. We now look forward to our next trip to watch Round 8 in Wroclaw only this time we’ll be joined by her indoors so I’m guessing they’ll be a bit of shopping and sight seeing involved !

  8. Don't think that's a way forward. Bottom end would be Ace, Jack and a 4.00 rider, who might not make his average. That doesnt strengthen us in any way and writes off a top four finish... and our season.

  13. If/when the NSS closes I’ll be lost to the sport after fifty odd years. Away from the NSS it is now a far too tedious affair and with no team interest it’s only use is as an insomnia cure. Considering I use to taking in 100+ meetings away from Belle Vue every year, it’s a sad position the sport has engineered itself into.

  14. I guess I'm very much in the minority here, so I'll hold up my hands and say I was wrong. I don't feel the way most of you do, but that's okay. Then again I grew up with speedway during the Brian Karger and Martin Dugard era - and that sort of rivalry (for me, at least) isn't going away just because a track closed. But when Oxford was closed, I went to Swindon and supported the opposition, and it was still a huge amount of fun.

  19. The Speedway stadiums past and present group is still there. FB groups can be a funny old thing and can quickly stray away from their intended subject. As a group becomes bigger they become a nightmare to moderate if you're the admin. The biggest problems are the spammers and those from other groups who see fit to take over your page to promote their material. Unfortunately there are also just some very nasty people who are hell bent on trolling.

  21. One of my personal favourite questions, I always found Karl a hard person to talk to,he is very opinionated which is fine but he won’t take on board anything that someone else says and from what I hear he wasn’t overly popular as a rider although he was a good one so I do respect him for that ,,we had a disagreement over F2 bikes, I had my opinion he had his and we were never going to agree, strangely I only just found out I wasn’t a member of speedway friends even though the page kept popping up on my FB feed and he has messaged me twice to do his where are they now feature but I have refused

  27. Suppose the bonus is he is decent At Ashfield as a scoring reserve.

  28. Probably riding better than I've seen him, but he's still not much more than a reserve who'll struggle at most away tracks. I'd gladly see us bring in some new talent and prep them for next season/ attain real averages. There's no changes we can make that will make us challengers imo

  29. Aye the boy Hamilton who did a few laps at Ashfield after the Edinburgh meeting . Hard to judge when they are out on their own . Michael Penfold looked good doing laps on his own

  31. Yup. It's getting a bit nasty now and he's misjudged a situation that he could have handled so much better and negotiated an amicable split, but he's just a bully who thinks that what he says goes without question. It only takes half a dozen people (some local which he isn't) with strong views and local knowledge to cause problems and delay for AEPG and get something significant for Peterborough Speedway from the mess that Butterfield and Co have created.

  32. CJ bailed and left us in the crap? Not sure about that? Who signed and paid for them is open to question I'd say? Chapman would have done a cost/benefit analysis for his input. He would know that Panthers already healthy support would be boosted by sensible investment. Would the same investment have reaped the same reward at Lynn?

  35. Middlesbrough had to make a redecleration to use Mudgeway as Jake Mulford was away at an international meeting in Germany & it was deemed to be more helpful to his ongoing progress to honour this commitment & to offer a team that used a novice at number one was not a step the club wanted to take. So step forward Jade Mudgeway & thank you for your efforts. For Wayne Hutt I'll agree he is not at this level & he is 40 but he is available as a 3.00 unattached rider & there might have been others but with limited options he stepped in to fill a gap. Both teams had a full 7 riders, each race had 4 starters weather we like the rules or not both teams complied without question & a full match was seen by all.

  39. I would have thought it isn’t the court case but possibly he spent his budget on getting a proper number one and the rest of the team isn’t performing which is partly down to lack of meetings which is partly bluster’s fault. it’s more difficult to get guests as sometimes only one other team isn’t riding on the same night. add the problem of him falling out with several other riders and not being prepared to pay the going rate for heat leaders. All this makes thinks more difficult. his stubbornness is costing him dearly.

  40. Gutted by this. There’s an argument to be made that Complin won that league title for Glasgow last season. No, he didn’t top score, but he went above and beyond what was expected of him. His heat fourteen move and block on Lewis Kerr against Oxford at Ashfield, allowing Brennan to come through the inside, was genuine world class speedway. What was more impressive was his connection with the fans. He almost single handedly had Ashfield rocking. Regardless, he’s f*cked up, big time. I heard he was gifted a very expensive engine which, including the many sponsors who backed him and the multiple fans who bought his merchandise, renders a long list of disappointed and let down parties. What a shame.

  41. STATEMENT: KING’S LYNN SPEEDWAY SATURDAY, MAY 18, 2024 Having already been under investigation for postponing a League fixture on the 4th May 2023, the Directors of the BSP Ltd reported the King’s Lynn club to the Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) for postponing the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership fixture on the 9th May 2024 stating the reason for the postponement was lack of rider availability. The members of the SCB viewed the evidence given where the King’s Lynn team were missing two riders namely Tobiasz Musielak who is currently absence with a speedway injury and Patryk Wojdylo who was competing in a National Championship in Poland. With the facilities available to the King’s Lynn team and three Premiership Teams not competing on the 9th May as well as a host of top-class Championship riders available the SCB supported the BSP Ltd Directors view that this fixture should have gone ahead. Due to the actions of the King’s Lynn Promotion by postponing this fixture when facilities were available, and also already being under investigation due to the fixture being postponed in May 2023, this Breached the following SCB Regulation – 017.2 Breach of Rules f) Any proceedings or acts prejudicial to the interests of any part or body of the ACU, SCB, BSP Ltd or of the sport of motorcycling generally. Due to this breach the King’s Lynn Club have been issued with the following penalty as per SCB Regulation 017.3 Penalties – Point Penalty – The Removal of two (2) ROWE Motor Oil Premiership League Points. No further comment from the SCB on this matter will be made.

  43. I mean no offence whatsoever @DazS, but that statement is absolutely dripping with ignorance. There isn’t a single more important professional metric on this planet than ensuring people’s safety. I’d be very interested to learn more about your opinion on this as from an employment perspective, it’s a subject I’m exposed to on a daily basis.
