Comic post of the day. Poole have to build to the rules of the Championship, not Premiership. So of course this current team isn’t good enough for the Premiership. But if we were in the top flight, you can be sure we would be at the pointy end.5 points

After a hiatus of 5 years (due to first Covid and then a family illness) I have just returned from my first trip to Poland since 2019. Sat in the main stand of the Olympic Stadium, Wroclaw on Friday night, I realised just how much I had missed the ‘buzz’ of being at an Ekstraliga match!! It was a great experience, very tasty ‘kielbasa w bulce & piwo’ (sausage in a bun and beer) in the fan park pre-match, good racing to watch, a fabulous atmosphere and, overall, a superb way to spend my birthday night. I even had the pleasure of a chat with Dan Bewley whilst getting ready to board the outbound flight last Tuesday. Dan was heading for a practice session in Wroclaw on Wednesday, before heading back to the UK for the Aces match on Thursday, and then back again to Wroclaw for Friday. And, just to say thanks again to Racers and Royals for his advice on the Wroclaw ticketing arrangements when I messaged him a few months ago now. Now back to the NSS for the Aces v Oxford tomorrow night – hopefully some good racing to watch, but maybe not quite the same 13,675 noisy & partisan crowd!!4 points

I wouldn’t believe a single thing that comes from King’s Lynn, not a single word.4 points

Who, knows, we have been struggling for some free Fridays if you don’t count the 8 we have had in the last 10 weeks.4 points

Surely if the boy Musicylak is with-holding his services to Kings Lynn , he cannot be allowed just to sign up for another club in the same league ? Kings Lynn surely have a contract with the rider for the 2024 season ? If he is allowed to ride for another club surely there should be a transfer fee involved ? For once I support the SCB BSPA BSPL (or whatever they call themselves nowadays) in barring Musicylak from riding in PL for anyone but Kings Lynn. I see the non viable PL is now regularly exposed as the fixed race nights of only Monday and Thursday racing, even with just 7 teams, just means fixture backlogs cannot be recovered. Some years ago I proffered that cancelled meetings should not be re-run. Teams should each be awarded 1 point. Clear incentive to home team to get fixture ON.3 points

If KL are blocking the Witches from using TM then I would hope they encourage the team to refuse any guest bookings...3 points

I’m sure he will do exactly that. And that is the problem why you struggle to attract riders and struggle to retain them.3 points

Rob Godfrey having a whinge about Friday's meeting on BSPL website today. Don't think anyone else would be allowed to openly criticise the referee without sanction. As for the incidents he complains about: 1. Bomber fell on the first bend, most times the referee calls all four back. 2. Jack Smith might have moved but Connor Mountain's helmet touched the tapes. 3. Heat 14 Mountain and Ivacic's bikes locked together on the back straight and they fell on 3rd bend. From the refs box there's no way he can see who's moved in or out but he can assume that Mountain's footrest has stuck in Ivacic's bike. Therefore Mountain is the primary cause of the stoppage. Sour grapes from Godfrey.3 points

You really are a massive pr..k, Sam like a lot of lads is trying hard to make a successful career out of speedway, sometimes they just get it wrong, do you actually think bewley, lambert and especially Bart got it right every single time, they just got into a habit of going around the pits saying sorry to move experience riders and that’s what Sam and all the young riders have learned to do since time immortal, try being in Sam’s shoes last night travelling home, do you actually think he would have been delighted? Do everyone a favour and keep your comments to yourself unless they are helpful to young lads please .3 points

Yet a team can drop a rider at any time with no notice and no financial liability Qutting/withholding services carries a 28 day ban - once served he should be free to ride elsewhere If not every dropped rider should be due a full seasons income for such a binding contract2 points

If Lynn pull out of the PL this season without fulfilling their fixtures, the same promotion should not be allowed to compete in the CL next season imo2 points

I suspect the truth is that VJF was fit enough to continue. I suspect the problem was that having wrecked 2 bikes that when the other 6 Pirates were asked to lend him one the universal answer was Erm... "no" Not without a signed damage waiver at the very least. The kid is very fast but very wild. No one wants to see him (or anyone) hurt but he really does need a wise head in his ear to calm him down.. Poole couldn't risk the spectacle of 3 riders and only 1 Pirate because no one would risk their machinery.2 points

Trouble is when you burn your bridges when you need a guest your options are more limited. Looks like mpt can be added to the list too.2 points
-
To be fair as the Scunthorpe promoter he is always going to judge it in favour of his own team. I have no issue with what he says it won’t change the outcome.2 points

Instead of knocking the four young men riding at reserve, why not watch the meeting and post your thoughts, good, bad or indifferent then It's no wonder so many youngsters get disillusioned after a few seasons of riding.2 points

If i was Buster, i would hold off until Aug 1st, if i had found a rider. Toby took the pi$$ imo.2 points

'If it was due to not having machinery' then he would have still had to have 3 rides (possibly 3 rider races) but if declared unfit to ride, then Sam Hagon could take his rides. But as you say he was fit to take his place in the rerun, then was suddenly unfit!!2 points

I’m a bears fan, and much as I am disappointed we lost, the best team won because they have the ruthless winning mentality,Redcar are too nice, but let’s not kid ourselves, Poole are masters of the dark arts,Foord was declared fit to race in heat 2 rerun until someone had a word in his ear, and how can you declare a tac sub in heat 11 and then just change your mind.!! But teams like Poole,Scunthorpe,Glasgow do this while the meek are left behind.2 points

Jeeezarse, they say I moan about King's Lynn but at least I can end a conversation I've never heard anyone go on & on & on & about a subject on totally the wrong fackin' thread too. Oh my dayz2 points

BIRMINGHAM take on defending champions Sheffield in a highly anticipated ROWE Motor Oil Premiership clash at Perry Barr on Monday (July 22, 7.30pm). The two played out a fascinating draw on opening night in the Second City back in March with the Curtis Sport Brummies stunning the South Yorkshire side early doors when they raced into a ten point lead. Plenty has changed since then though and the Brummies now find themselves on a run of six straight defeats in all competitions. Meanwhile, the visitors currently sit second in the standings - but they have lost their last four away fixtures. And that’s something that CEO Nigel Tolley hopes his side can take advantage of on Monday night. “We know results and performances of late haven’t been good enough,” Tolley said. “But this next home meeting against Sheffield could actually come at just the right time. “Everyone on the outside will probably be expecting Sheffield to come and take the points without many problems at all. “But for us, the Brummies’ riders are desperate to turn things around - and let’s be honest, there’d be no better way to get things back on track than by beating the champions. “They may have a good team, but it’s not as if Sheffield have been sparkling on their travels lately. “So hopefully that will prove to be the case again on Monday and we can get a much needed win.” Michael Palm Toft will make his debut for Birmingham whilst they have booked Zach Cook, who was released from the team earlier in the season, to guest in place of Justin Sedgmen who is ruled out with concussion. The visitors include Jack Holder, who is currently second in the World Championship standings, 2012 World Champion Chris Holder and Josh Pickering who is a popular racer with the Birmingham faithful. Sheffield have also booked Australian international Max Fricke to guest in place of the injured Tai Woffinden. Whilst supporters can pay on the night trackside, tickets are also available to purchase online in advance for £23 adults, £20 concessions (with proof) and £10 students (with proof) - children under 16 are admitted free of charge! Brand new racenight ‘VIP Gold Tickets’ are also available for £39 - this includes a raceday programme, a pre-meeting pits visit, a centre green experience as well as use of the executive boxes upstairs in the main grandstand. All tickets can be secured via: trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/64084? Any supporters attending are also politely asked to note the racenight parking revisions. All season ticket holders are being asked to park in the main car park of the stadium where a dedicated parking area for season ticket holders and blue badge holders is being created close to the main entrance, which will leave only limited parking onsite for non-season ticket holders. However, the club will continue to do their best to provide car parking at the stadium for those with mobility issues, but are urging those fans to arrive by 7pm. The club are asking for fans who aren't season ticket holders, to use the car parking in Holford Drive (in front of Prince Albert High School), postcode B42 2TU, which is less than 5 minutes walk to the stadium entrance. The VIP car-park, which has been accommodating some season ticket holders and blue badge holders, will now continue to be used for sponsors, staff and second half riders. BIRMINGHAM: Freddie Lindgren, Michael Palm Toft, Wiktor Lampart, Zach Cook, Tom Brennan, Piotr Pawlicki, Leon Flint. SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Kyle Howarth, Chris Holder, Josh Pickering, Max Fricke, Jason Edwards, Dan Gilkes.1 point

Speaking to people before the meeting saying that this season has been awful , With the gaps between meetings that they've got out the habit of attending every week and are picking and choosing the meetings . Personally think the track has been awful this year and feel sorry for home riders as making them look poor, probably been spoilt over the years .Missed 4 meetings this year as i couldn't be bothered to turn up as I've found the racing poor .Don't think ill be renewing my season ticket next year. League needs to change to racing each other twice at home and twice away scrap the Bloody Stupid Nobody cares Series Get a decent track curator ! If you had a Michelin star restaurant and you lost your chef ,You wouldn't get someone off a burger van to try and replace him or if you did people are going to stop going to your restaurant.1 point

If this situation with tobi went to court the BSPL would not have a leg to stand on. it just needs a brave promoter to take on the cartel.1 point

From KL website 11/06/24 "We must stress that Tobiasz wants to return to the UK" 02/07/24 "we later received a phone call to say that Tobiasz would not be returning to UK racing this year" Something must have been lost in translation!1 point

Belle Vue & the BSPA will have lost a fortune. This event just sucks money at the best of times, But to put it on against Euro24 was never going to work. The Polish TV company have far to many staff that need to be paid & their costs met. I'd say on the first night there were 800 paying public in the stadium & about 100 discovery sports staff.1 point

I don't disagree, but the last time he lost the SGP was to Artem and he's not been allowed to defend it. This makes BZ a disputed World Champion as opposed to undisputed!1 point

Ipswich went in to meetings severely hampered by numerous injuries this season. At one point they went in to meetings without FOUR riders (Doyle, King, Ellis, Dan) and didn’t attempt to cancel meetings. They just got on with it as everyone SHOULD do.1 point

I think it's very hard on Kemp, he's a Prem reserve who was expected to ride at number 2. Now it'll be hard on Killeen who's not had a shot as a RS, but expected to be a number 6. If they really felt Kemp wasn't working out, what about Heeps who's been having a much better season for the Cheetahs.1 point

You seem to have a real bee in your bonnet about this......I expect the idea was that Lambert would be more comfortable round the kerb than Bewley and Dan probably better from the back at BV as it's his home track. It's a team event and the idea is you use riders to their strengths to get the job done, that's exactly what GB did and it worked. I keep reading this and find it inconceivable that the two riders didn't have more of an input than the TM.1 point

To be honest the event promoters should have noted what’s happened to the attendance at the British GP in recent years and why, they clearly haven’t and looking at the attendances this week I cannot see how they balanced the books if the early information about the staging costs is right. The final was excellent entertainment with some exceptional racing and the icing of course was GB winning, shame the weather somewhat ruined the other three meetings but the final was worth the wait.1 point
