some on here could also say they were wrong to cast aspersions and jumping to conclusions about Jack, seemed pretty quick to add their ten penneth at the time.7 points

What a fantastic meeting this was, a great advert for our sport. A big crowd, great atmosphere, top class racing, no controversial moments, banter between home and away fans, couldn't ask for more, it really felt like the big occasion it should. I am happy with a 12 point lead as it gives the Aces a chance, Sheffield still slight favorites, but pulling back a lead of anything over 10 in play offs is not easy. As for the Jack Holder, worky fan issue, too me its something about nothing. The way I see it, without calling anyone a liar, Jack was asked for his teamsheet and could he sign it, he took the sheet down signed it then gave it to the child, why would he go to those efforts to then screw it up and throw it at the kid, it doesn't make sense. The easy option for Jack would have been to ignore the request and walk away, now maybe he didn't smile when he passed it over, but this was within a number of minutes after he'd been 5-1'd in heat 15, so he was probably still a bit pissed off. Anyway on to Thursday.7 points

Booo Hooo... I really would give it no thought whatsoever if I was Jack, or Chris... Life moves on, and, guess what, there are a myriad of disappointments to face, so get over it, and quickly..... If Jack Holder had done something to upset my kid which I felt was "out of order", he would have been told there and then... I wouldn't have hidden behind a keyboard... The world nowadays is far too easily offended... Which, in a way, is great... Because there are loads more who now take offence than there used to be to have a pop at......7 points

Anyone whos been to Belle Vue will know exactly what Jack meant about the fence, its impossible to throw anything through it. The parents are clearly trouble makers.4 points

Like someone said earlier in the thread, definitely looking for a freebie via the cancel culture route. You bought a ticket, enjoyed the meeting as you stated but you aren’t owed anything else and nor are your kids. Glad Jack has set the record straight, ultimately he has more to lose than some Karen on Facebook looking for a freebie.4 points

The dad sounds like a proper prat... Best wishes to the kid as he grows up with that as his role model... If you are peed off then tell Jack why to his face, and move on.. No need for a public outburst...4 points

Another cracking meeting tonight. Fair play to Scunthorpe for keeping it so close, but Nicholls and Masters proving to be the difference once again in heats 13 and 15. Special mention to Dan Gilkes in heat 14 - that was one hell of a ride.3 points

Now here’s Jack’s side of the accusations, the people concerned might have made a mountain out of a molehill but gone very low aiming comments at family who were nothing to do with the initial incident. @Sheffield Speedway Can’t believe I have to post this about the false allegations against me, Always 2 sides to every story, this have been made into a bigger issue then it has to be. So after heat 15 I had come into the pits, took my helmet off and there was a kid at the fence asking for the racecard which I gave to him through a chain wire fence, I turned back around to talk with my teammates, the kid then asked for me to sign the racecard which I did and then handed it back through the fence which had then ripped so I picked both pieces up and gave them back to the kid, who looked very happy! The dad then came to the fence and was abusing me. I asked him what the issue was and he stated that I threw the racecard at his son and his son was crying. I turned back around to my team to talk about the meeting but apparently tried to bring my team manager and my brother into the argument which is also false. How can I throw a program at a kid through a chain wire fence? This has to be very clear! There was no security called or anything like he claimed, Then after getting home from the meeting the father has even gone as far as repeatedly commenting on my partner and my son’s photos with disgusting comments. Since the meeting he has gone on a rampage trying to spread false information all over social media. The way they have interpreted the interaction is so far from the truth it’s actually a joke. Also threatening my team manager Simon stead and laughing about it as it’s all over social media. So I am unsure if this is supposed to be a funny thing or a now serious thing.3 points

Of course he will improve - he is only 19 - this year as an example was only time 2nd time he raced at Poole. Unlike all of the UK riders who have grown up racing on these tracks. He could easily put 1-2 points on his away average. Anyway if Tigers don’t want him the club who does take him will get the rewards just like tigers did this year - a 4 point rider who managed 7+ points at home every week. And yes even when at number 6 he still beat all the same riders.3 points

Sounds like the kid asked for Jack’s signed team sheet and got given Jack’s signed team sheet. Not sure what the problem is 🤔🤓3 points

Congratulations to Oxford for progressing to the final and well done to Scunthorpe for a battling display which pushed the Cheetahs all the way!2 points

Kings Lynn. Id love to see this team win the league next year. i think have raced every year since 1965 , been close a few times in top flight but have had atrocious few years. Lets hope they bring Rob back and build a team to challenge for title next year. Long over due and would be good for the sport.2 points

This point hits the nail on the head. While everyone would wish to see a higher points limit, probably most promoters even, all it would do currently is enable the richer clubs to hoover up the scarce heat leaders and leave the poorer clubs without any top end strength. While the points limit exists then it should be set at a level that encourages healthy competition in the league otherwise there is no point having a points limit at all.2 points

Would that not make the racing closer though? Means a reserve is capable of beating 6 of the opposition team? Ideally you want the gap between the top & bottom riders as narrow as possible for close racing. So hopefully doesn't mean 4-6 point riders get dropped for new 2.00 riders. But with the likes of Pickering, Ben Cook & Brennan possibly not riding in the Champ next year, Plymouth not having a number one all season, will Schlein ride next year? Where will the heat leaders come from?2 points
-
One heat leader, three second strings and three reserves probably the make up off most teams next year. What could possibly go wrong, It must be the only sport i know that weakening the product time after time will make everything better, and they still expect you to pay the same if not more for it.2 points

I personally want Belle Vue though to the final. Not because I think we can beat them it's more of that bend 2 army wanna be hooligans do everyone's nut in at Leicester. The rest of the Sheffield supporters I've spoke to and normal supporters and are super friendly. But that bunch have the same songs on repeat, sometimes do chants that make you cringe and they just look terrible in general. Especially that James fella, seems a right wind up merchant. Why can't they just be normal and stop antagonising everyone ? It's like Sheffield are the only club that exist to them. Either way whoever we get it's going to be a super close and tense final. Sheffield or Belle Vue, not fussed. Just don't want any annoying fans lol.2 points

I find this Jack Holder thing quite cringeworthy really and the ladies post tagging pretty much anything that is Jack Holder related very odd. He’s clearly not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s completely fine.2 points

On facebook, that well known platform of truth and honesty !! Everyone is taking her word as gospel and completely discounting Chris Holder's statement that it didn't happen. Is that because they know the woman personally and are confident she would only post the absolute truth ? Or is it because they dislike the Holder family and see an opportunity to jump on the bandwagon ? I wonder how many of those backing her statement would do the same if she said it about Doyle or Nicholls ?2 points
-
Yes you do and I thought the winner of heat 8 on Saturday Vinnie Foord was going to be paying us a visit and did great to hold onto the bike on the final bend.2 points
-
You see Dave the mature thing to do there is to hold a grudge against a whole club based on the actions of few and cry about it whenever the opportunity arises. It shouldn't be a surprise though. The club is based in the rough area of Hillsborough, so you should expect some foul language and potentially you're a few missing tyres if you drive.2 points

Information from Leicester The outcome of that semi-final has an effect on the date of the Grand Final at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park. If Sheffield win on aggregate, the Lions will stage the first leg next Monday, September 23 before travelling up to South Yorkshire three nights later. A Belle Vue victory would mean the Lions travelling to Manchester next Monday and then hosting the second leg on Thursday September 26. So how is it acceptable that they have to wait till the Thursday to know where the final will be raced on the following Monday, when this wasn't acceptable for the semi finals? For "commercial reasons" couldn't Leicester just have agreed to host the home leg first to allow Belle Vue or Sheffield 7 days to publicise their leg of the final? There is nothing anyone could ever say to make me believe the "fixing" of the semi finals is acceptable.2 points

Yes, I remember them well. There were some juicy battles between those two. I had a lot of time for Jack. Not so much Frank though, I'm trying to be charitable here. 😉2 points

Decent top three for the championship. I’d keep Max James as the 2.00 for next season though1 point

He can't come back until he pays his fine, which seems like something he isn't interested in doing. Perhaps if the deal was right he may reconsider, he's only 321 point

Are you sure Cami makes these kind of decisions? He's a volunteer and they are way above his pay grade.1 point

Apart from wanting the GP winner to be the top scorer, which I don't agree with, but understand why people want that. There are many issues with the current scoring system. If 5 riders are tied on 6 points, why do you need to split them via countback? If someone scores a 15 point max but has an ef in the semi, do they really only deserve 9 points? The other issue is after semi 1, you don't know if the 3rd finisher is 5th or 6th, or if the 4th finisher is 7th or 8th. The world title / rostrum position / top 6 qualifiers could end up being decided by the meeting wildcard! There are far simpler ways to ensure the GP winner ends up with the most points, if that has to be done.1 point

I think Sheffield are favourites to go through, but at least Belle Vue have made the second leg interesting.1 point

Just the same as in football, there is a minority of fans at every club who are unpleasant, but that doesn't make us all the same. I have a friend who, in her early 20s took her 4 year old daughter to watch Wolves away at Belle Vue. On their way out of the stadium they were verbally abused by a Belle Vue supporter. What sort of man would do that to a lone woman and child ? Reading these forums at the moment makes it sound like visiting Owlerton is the speedway equivalent of a trip to Millwall FC !!1 point

You’ve no idea what got said to him only seeing his response, social media is an absolute nightmare for people hiding behind computer screens to abuse others.1 point

Any evidence to support this, or just a typical internet rant that could be completely made up and has gained traction from others who don't like him ? Maybe he was rude, but then again, maybe he was approached a few minutes after returning to the pits after just being done 5-1 in heat 15 ? These riders are putting themselves on the line every time they race, and I would imagine are pretty fired up inside after a bad race. Sometimes fans need to think whether it is a good time to approach a rider or not. Holder is not renowned for being over friendly, so common sense suggests that may have been a bad moment.1 point

Please don't even quote him. I have him on ignore but still see his posts if quoted. 😒1 point

In my experience watching the playoffs it is very hard to pull a lead back. Even 8 points can be challenging. It is just different to normal league aggregate meetings. BV know they can just sit on 3-3s and frustrate Sheffield and then they over try and potentially get excluded from crashing or causing them etc.1 point

Advantage Belle Vue for me at the moment. But we have come back from bigger more in the past. I thought the first half of the meeting was very gate and go, but the racing came alive in the second half of the meeting. As for Jack Holder not shaking hands after the race, who cares. This sport not love island. Personally I don't give a damn.1 point

Well done Workington on your 1st season back in championship, lovely set up there, you had a team with a few unknowns and coped well, to make the play offs was an astounding result and you may have gotten further if you had your full team without injuries. Hopefully you can get back some of the Derwent park fans and continue to do well next season. Believe it or not a lot of Glasgow fans were supporting you to do well, shame that there are 1 or 2 Workington fans dislike us, but for the most part you are a friendly lot. You have Steve Lawson who is very well thought off at Glasgow, you also have my fave rider Craig Cook and Claus is also loved by Glasgow fans. I look forward to some friendly rivalry next season.1 point

If there were no team managers, who would fulfil the four duties that you 'literally' feel is all they do? If you have ever been involved in any sport at any level then you will know how much management goes on behind the scenes to keep the wheels turning logistically, not including any of what happens on a match day.1 point

Believe Tolley can compete with Brum next season now they can start building earlier, based on the rising star position going 1. Lindgren 2. Z. Cook 3. Thorsell 4. Harris 5. Tungate 6. Hellstrom-Bangs 7. Pearson1 point
