As AceBelle says, it's not just about a result, a top team has to be around 50+ at home. Away from home there's no chance of the top 3 scoring 30+. Sheffield would have been far far better leaving out a Holder or Woffinden & making sure Rowe was at No6. I think they could be in real trouble

By your reckoning then the rider who needs 7 riders to progress shouldn't get them and the rider who is progressing should just keep getting more? Until everyone gets away from the win at all costs mentality and starts to make it about Development (that doesn't mean everyone is entitled to take part) it'll continue to be the same old same old below the PL and CL level. 5 rides each has to be way forward for 6 man Teams or 4 rides for 7 (by all means allow reserves to switch and nominate the last 4 heats) to develop all the riders not just those who can score the most points on a night!

You seem to have omitted Jacob Fellows' scores in those meetings... H vs Leicester: 1+1 (scored a point as Max James was excluded) H vs Belle Vue: 0 - A vs Belle Vue: 0 A vs Mildenhall: 1 (scored point as Sam Woods was excluded) Would he have benefited more from an extra ride half a lap behind the opposition, or did Luke Killeen (etc.) benefit more from those extra rides? Yes, it's a development league, but riders should still be competitive at that level if they want the rides surely? Jacob Fellows could have been in 7 heats in those meetings and he would have scored the same (bar exclusions) as he was so far off the pace. Instead the likes of Luke Killeen got them, and look where he is now.

We have someone who wants to open the sport again in Swindon, but the Council are adamant they have no land available. Private land searches have also drawn a blank so far. Clarke Osborne continues to sit on what's left of the Abbey and let that deteriorate and not complete the new bits he threw up to enable houses in the car park. No doubt to eventually be allowed to demolish it for more houses. We are presenting our petition to Full Council on Thursday, but fully expect lots of lip-service and verbal support with no end product from the Council.

Hume is a likable relatable rider. I think he could be a fans favourite. You've a team with a lot of egos. Hume is the opposite! As an outsider I hope he does well for you. (Hope the other 6 flop mind you)

Staying injury free is his biggest problem most seasons.Also what I have seen of him he is more of a gater.

He definitely is better and has come a long way from his first season as team manager, it is not an easy job, but he is getting better tactically just needs to refine how he deals with each rider, one size does not fit all, and that part can take years of experience.

My take on this would be that Luke would have still progressed to the level he has taking 5 rides if teams were six man as he had the abilities. Jacob could well of progressed to a decent standard national league reserve given the chance to take his rides its all subjective though as its opinion based

is it slanderous though 3 names kept getting mentioned last year that were owed money(nothing new in speedway )2 mentioned allready have a guess at the third

One of my concerns with the team is which Picko turns up - the one from the last month of the season who was absolutely on fire, or the one from the first few months of the season who seemed to be struggling

Howarth is better than Rowe especially at Sheffield, Hume is not premiership quality, Gilkes could compete at reserve but Hume can't, not much in it between Edwards and Flint both have the talent but need to up their game.

Totally agree tony,that's why,after discussing with the missus,we no longer feel that what we have to fork out,warrants the outlay especially with rising costs elsewhere and income barely rising to compensate this.its a sad state of affairs but after following the tigers since I was 15,the time has come to say enough is enough,which is a bit sad but a nessecity.

What confuses me is why the 'rules' re Rising Stars are being discussed on the Oxford Cheetahs 2025 page.

Always thought Belle Vue should make more use the massive student population and fact that they generally reside on our side of the city. A coach and admission + drinks ( not trying to get them legless) would be the way to go via the student union. We have a lot of (very) local schools rock up using free tickets but broadening it out to the city would be more beneficial. The Polish community is another miss imo.

Have said this for while the student discounts for speedway are generally pathetic. I’m a Scunthorpe fan and a full time university student yet I still have to pay £18 the same as OAP’s and £2 less than an adult general admission which is £20. When you compare it to football it costs far less and people wonder why many young people aren’t interested in the sport!
