  1. But so was Charles Wright. In fact, he was that little bit closer...

  2. It cannot be ran at Poole... As everyone knows, the people of Poole only go out on Wednesdays....

  3. No, it isn't easy but Ritchings was a lot more on the pace than Marson was, so correct decision imo.

  6. You're so far up your own backside that I bet when you brush your teeth you can see your face where your tonsils should be. If its not Poole it's not worth knowing about That's your mantra.

  7. Forget the past. Bomber is value for money wherever he rides. And let's just exam the facts. He was that close to being crowned British Champion on the same track the GPs are going to be run.

  8. Appreciate you replying on this. Strange and annoying that you have to print an e-ticket for the parking - especially when not everyone has access to a printer. (We don't !).

  10. An excellent meeting but, sadly, so many "throttle jockeys" on show.. Unfortunately, it was like watching a meeting in Poland... They should hold it at Plymouth next year and call the sport "TECHNICALway" rather than "SPEEDway"... How much more exciting would it be to watch riders fully locking up, blocking the track every bend, thus ensuring no one has room outside to pass.. The art of the sport is to scrub off speed by going sideways, instead of forwards.. I have read on here that this is what Speedway should be about, so let's hope the authorities are reading this.....

  11. Marson wanted to find a full-time CL place as well as NDL outings to make it worth coming over from Aussie. He accepted that he was only a placeholder in the Poole team until the end of June, which made it worth his while. But to kick his out in early May to take advantage of another placeholder until June, seems pretty low.

  12. Because they think Cairns is the best 2.00 prospect & they want to win the league. Poole always plan to be the best they can.

  15. A part of me thinks it’s a clever move, if we win then it’s all credit to the riders and Richie for changing the numbers. If we lose it’s an excuse that we tried something but it didn’t work out and we’ve learnt from it.

  16. I think poole are in for a close match , they will feel the sting even without Dougy

  17. Who writes the articles on Scunthorpe's website or posts them without proof reading first? I bet Poole wish they had him at number 5 šŸ˜‚

  18. If you are known for making starts it's a little easier but for those riders who rely on having a chance to pass it is a little tougher if the track is bit wetter. As ever, it can also be a good excuse.

  20. Ironically they spend, as a collective well over a million on riders each season, yet sod all on making their product known to even locals never mind the wider population... That huge investment would be far better used as "prize money" and advertise this total amount of cash as the total that can be won for the season.. eg "One Million Pounds Prize Money To Be Won In British Speedway"..... A bit of creative advertising maybe, but based on the truth...

  21. Should be in the licence that if chosen you ride in the national championship. No opt out option on the form.

  22. Exactly this, you’re making 90% of all league meetings irrelevant for the sake of 6 meetings at the end of the season.

  24. I’ve brought a countless number of people to speedway over the decades with next to none showing any interest in returning with any regularity. I’ve helped run coaches to away tracks up until fairly recently but that was getting increasingly difficult and has now almost stopped altogether. There needs to be a hook of some kind to engage the public with and that takes a canny marketeer, a bit of luck in hitting the zeitgeist of the time and a not unsubstantial amount of money. We need hero’s and villains, fan rivalry (good natured) and most importantly a spectacle on track with delays that let the atmosphere evaporate kept to a minimum or filled with something to keep the fans hot with anticipation. It’s a better man than me who can find and exploit that hook, especially in this new social media age but it must be there, mustn’t it?

  25. Can't get why anyone would want to see Harris riding in a GP again. He's had enough chances over the years.

  26. I couldn't agree more, this thread is a hard read, I am genuinely embarrassed for grown men that have paid to watch the stream and have taken the time to go online and tear it apart as they watch it. I was at the meeting and so was my 8 year old and he loves every minute of the racing, it may not be the speedway the dinosaurs used to watch in the 80s but the volunteers at Plymouth put their all into getting the meetings on and the unkindness on this thread is honestly embarrassing to read. I just don't understand in one breath you can feel so bad for the state of British speedway but then rubbish every effort that is made to keep it going year in year out at Plymouth. The catchment area of fans in the south-west has huge potential and the social media team has put in a noticeable effort this year, having ridden grass-track and been the mascot at Reading back in the early 90's I hadn't watched or been involved in Speedway since, after moving to Devon Plymouth speedway is the reason I have gained an interest again and I have introduced family and friends that will no doubt go in the future. Either lift the sport up and promote it positively or stop paying your money to watch it.

  27. Are Poole trying to cheat again, I thought only new riders come in on 2 average, I think ritchings should be on a 3 average

  28. I still don't understand, did Poole seriously expect more from Marson? I guess from their actions, they did, which seems an unusual error on their part... Everyone else knew!

  29. A real pity they didn't split the wild cards, one each for Wright and Harris would have been good.

  30. Busload of us Bandits fans went on a southern tour in 1987. Tuesday Milton Keynes v Berwick, Wednesday Wimbledon v Berwick, Thursday Arena Essex v Berwick, Friday Peterborough v Berwick, Saturday Canterbury v Berwick, Sunday Rye House v Berwick. Tragic thing is we are the only ones currently running.

  32. I don't know about anybody else but all I want from my Speedway is to see a close match, preferably (but not essentially) with my team winning, a sprinkling of good competitive racing, run in a timely manner and to not go home covered in dust. It's not too much to ask is it? These days not all of those 5 key things are consistently met. I don't think that being branded a "Keyboard Warrior" when saying when any one of those things has not been met is the right way to address it. It's the type of statement a Speedway promoter makes and has gotten the sport into the state it is currently in.

  33. Your right i remenber Granty Sr worked in a garage, Steve McDermott worked at Massey Ferguson the majority of them had normal jobs. Riders had to use up holidays for away meetings. I can remember going on a southern tour and Berwick had about 4 meetings in a week.

  34. There is a chance for You in the UK to get to see one of our best female riders, Nepalese-German Patricia 'Paddy' Erhart in the SGP2 qualifying round in Glasgow on Saturday, May 24. Here she is pictured along with her Olching team mates Martin Smolinski (captain), Seychellian-German Mario HƤusl, and the junior 250cc rider Carlos Gennerich, in yesterday's Bundesliga 2 meeting at Teterow. This is what she afterwards wrote (in english) on facebook: P2 in Teterow. Great team spirit, happy to be a part of it . For me though, it was a day to forget. After my fall in training, it went downhill from there. I did not trust enough to go fast or take over. I had that same problem in the last years after my bad crashes, so it was nothing new, but I hoped to have left this issue behind. Also my clutch didn’t cooperate, I got two warnings because in the green light phase my bike pulled me near the tapes. In consequence I was forced to start 15 meters behind in third heat. It was disappointing, but bad days happen. Now I only look forward to my next race. I will be participating in Scotland for the SGP2 Quali in about two weeks. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1589724204579111

  38. I don't think they did but I don't know on this. The car parks were full and a good crowd, loads of Eastbourne and Kent fans in attendance, a good few fans from Leicester too which was good to see and fair play to them..
