  1. There is no contact until Doyle leans to turn in, the contact is with the backend of Jensen bike, Jensen doesnt drift of his line, he psssed Doyle fair and square

  2. So just to make things clear, weve gone from Sheffield is closing next year due as we're getting kicked out of Owlerton to now Tolley is taking over Sheffield... We're proper 'in the know' on this forum 🤡

  3. And wasn't there usually a spare bike in the pits for any rider to jump on when his own machinery gave problems? I remember riders having there bike on a rack at rear of vehicle - some a bit worse for wear. I was watching a rider packing up one night, it was Terry Kelly as a Comet, and someone said what's all those holes in your car Tel?...he said oh that's caused by my passenger the 'rust rat'.......happy days indeed.

  4. You would have slated Lynn calling it off with over 24hrs to go🫢

  5. I use XC Weather and always found it to be reliable, its showing 0.2mm of rain in between 4&6pm and the same at 9pm. With a strong wind, you would hardly notice it on track, hardly Armageddon... It's a bad habit now when clubs call it off on a forecast, it's one of the reasons I stopped going, it's pretty pathetic tbh

  6. Of course the ball remains in Brandon Estates court, the statement from the campaign group acknowledges that. A housing development is also delusional at this stage. Can Brandon Estates wait for 20 years or so to get something back from their speculative purchase? What is the land worth now 20 acres of Greenfield or Brownfield not sure, with a massive clean up needed . Im sure its in Brandon Estates interest to negotiate for some return now and retain the development potential if motorsports fail in the future removing the need to protect the stadium. You have to retain hope anything else is just embittered. up the bees

  7. Glasgow had no control over this meeting. If they had, I'm fairly sure it would've been off in the morning.

  8. That is the trouble, different refs do different things. Some bring it back no matter what and others leave it if the rider penalises himself.

  9. Comets have a fair number of what I would call occasional supporters ie will come sometimes but don't need their speedway fix or love it as much as the hardcore fans. By hardcore I mean fiercely loyal and will turn up whatever the weather or circumstances. If Speedway country wide continues to decline it is partly because it is not attracting enough people to cover the current costs. Those running the sport have to acknowledge this as a matter of urgency and take action to lower the cost base while making the sport more attractive to supporters. Current fan numbers at many clubs generally struggle to cover costs such as rider demands, travel expenses, medical costs ( around £1200 per meeting) Insurance costs, Stewards costs etc etc. I wouldn't be surprised if Workington would have liked to build a stronger team but were very mindful of the losses incurred at the back end of last season when crowds dipped. It is a catch 22, fans want a competetive team , the management have a certain budget probably based on expected break even numbers through the gates. If the fans don't turn up in these expected numbers on a regular basis then not as much money is available for team building. Offers to more capable riders are more likely to be bettered by lets say richer clubs. If the signed up team turns out uncompetetive or underachieves then this affects the numbers through the gate as the fickle won't come to watch a losing team. This increases financial loss even further putting a clubs ability to afford to race at a certain level in doubt. In my opinion the sport does not attract the attendances to call itself a professional sport any longer. It is increasingly questionable whether rider demands are sustainable on current attendances. The days when many riders had a job outside of speedway may well have to return. For me the way forward is one British League, let the riders who say they can't make one league pay make the choice.

  11. Definitely should wait for cairns to be eligible and kerr to sort out his mechanical gremlins and find a bit of form I'm sure everyone agrees.

  12. Jensen was in front, hence his back wheel took Doyle's front, and Doyle had ran him very narrow down the straight, not on a "normal line".. By doing so, there was only going to be one result if Doyle didn't move out... I think he thought he could pin him on bends one and two but Jensen was too quick... Good, hard racing from both, but Doyle caused the stoppage by the line he took, and the fact he was behind when the contact took place..

  13. It could and should have been so much better than it was though, unfortunately the PL was just a continuation of their CL years.

  14. Wrong,Jensen had the beating of Doyle, Doyle knew it but wouldn’t give an inch keeping a ridiculous tight line going down the straight and at the point of contact which was minimal Jensen was infront and was wrongly excluded

  19. I thought she did herself proud. Her gating was the main thing that let her down, once she was racing she seemed pretty competitive, and certainly not afraid to race/pass. It makes more sense after reading that she was somewhat hesitant due to the conditions. There have been worse U21 riders in the past. Hopefully she gets more chances to improve.

  21. I think this is incredibly harsh. I was on co-commentary last night and whilst I thought the first 4/5 races offered little in the way of riders being able to fight through the pack, from Heat 6 onwards the meeting came alive and the banking and dirt on Bends 3/4 offered some great racing. Ben Barker fighting with Anders Rowe, Harris going from last to second, Cluff going around both Pirates in Heat 12, Lasse Fredriksen v Zach Cook just to name a few. There was excellent racing as the night went on and it was fair racing from all riders. Plenty of space given but all desperate for points in what turned out to be another really competitive fixture between the two sides, a thought that must give the Gladiators management hope about what is possible this season. Can't argue that Gate 4 is proving tricky, I believe that's now 2 meetings without a win from it but Riders did make it work at times picking up points. All credit must go to Mark Phillips, the track staff, the referee and both teams for getting on with things last night. As I interviewed Garry May at the end of the fixture it just started to rain then and it came down quickly! There was an excellent, interactive crowd there last night, great noise. Brilliant support as always from the Pirates too who made their voices heard when they could. It's a shame that Gladiators couldn't take a 10+pt lead into Wednesday but bigger picture, they're looking decent this season and it would appear that Oxford was first night blues and Glasgow was just being outclassed by their Top 5 - something I believe a lot of teams will find this season.

  22. gp rider reserve 🤣

  23. Lawson goes to no. 1 in June. Kvech drops to reserve. Ben is still 5th in averages, worst place he could be as limits r/r options

  24. Standardise engines and put rev limiters on, it wouldn't be popular with the established riders but it would equalise equipment, bring down costs and make it far easier for riders to enter the sport.

  26. As it typically is with most Rising Stars. Away from home, realistically the most you’d ever hope for is 3 points from 3 rides, beating your fellow rising star in heat 2, 4 (if a reserve switch isn’t made), and 8. Saying that, even if they got 1 from 3, as a TM you’d be happy with that away from home. No one is expecting the RS to go and win the meeting. I think at Lynn we’ve just had enough of seeing Boughen give up going into the 1st corner if he hasn’t hit the front. We just want to see a trier, who gives 100% effort all the time, regardless whether they finish 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th

  27. From his posts i think Luke's father has his head screwed on properly, from any interviews i've heard with Luke it seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I cannot see him going to RS at any PL team unless they both think the time is right and Luke can do himself justice. He's a very talented young rider, if he moves up i doubt he wants to be slagged off like just about every other RS. I'd say pretty much the same about Jody Scott too, though i think a PL RS position would be a step too far at the moment, needs to establish himself at CL level.

  29. It's not the point though is it.I don't think anyone is happy at any match being called off so early. At least have a look at the forecast mid morning and then make a decision. At least you will have a more accurate idea.

  31. Just for your information, I worked with Adam Shields for 10 years (in the pits, working with and attracting sponsors, running his website and the logistical side) Since he retired ive sponsored Cameron Woodward Georgie Wood Kyle Newman and this year I sponsor Kent Eagles Charlie Wood Vinnie Foord I am also part of the team that tried to get speedway back to Arlington so I have a good perspective on the finances that involve running a rider and a club.

  36. I wish SCS well in their efforts to return Speedway to Brandon and they have done some amazing work, however the ball remains in Brandon Estates court and until such time as they wish to proceed with anything it is all a matter of wait and see and prepare, however it is my belief that BE will just sit and wait until the Stadium becomes beyond repair, I cannot for the life of me see them leasing out the Stadium because if they do that then the Stadium will need to be refurbished and brought in to a useable condition which will then defeat their end game of developing the site, purchasing the site for me seems to be the only way forward can SCS obtain the financial support for this to happen? that is the 6 million dollar question, but with Speedway in the UK down and almost out I for the life of me cannot see a business plan that only involve Speedway and Stocks generating enough income to support the purchase (were it for sale) of the Stadium, any business plan would need to include something more than just Speedway & Stocks most likely would at the very least include some development of part of the site, Yes it is possible to see Sports return to Brandon but somehow someone has to get Brandon Estates to accept an offer for the site, until then it is a waiting game and time is on Brandon Estates side.

  41. It’s disappointing that a great racing track cannot attract decent crowds.I know results matter but it seems there is not the support too keep the sport viable in Workington. In 2018 the Team won everything but it was not enough support to carry on.Nobody wants to see such a good set up( track and facility)fail.

  42. May be they should of not graded the track and taking more than the top surface off as that changed the advantage.I still travelled 150 mile round trip to support the comets and pity more who live closer to the track do not support it.

  43. Was on that bus, if today's supporters think we are bad now, you should look at results from 1980+81 to see how bad your team could be 🤪
